How is your EU3 Game going?

Delete the cache folder but nothing more. The game will create a new one the next time you start. It will recalculate some stuff about the map so it will take a little bit longer to start. When it starts... I do not know if this will solve the problem, it was just an idea. I would recommend the technical support in the Paradox forums if you have still problems.

I always love seeing successful Ottomans. :)

Fortunately they continue to be successful. Long jump this time, though, to 1564, as the mid-1500s focused on keeping inflation limited, building up infrastructure, and converting the infidel to reduce revolt risk, as well as lowering badboy in hopes of avoiding more wars with France.

We did fight a war in the 1540s, though, as our ally Fez DOW'ed Morocco and asked for help. This led to the establishment of Ottoman West Africa:

Kind of worthless territory, to be honest. Having an Atlantic port might be useful in the future, but there is zero manpower from these lands, and except for Anti-Atlas, the populations are low and the growth is negative. Thus if anyone decides to invade, we'll have to ship troops from the mainland to defend it (there are a few there now, but not enough to fend off determined invaders), and it might not be worth it. On the other hand, it's quite possible that no one will consider these territories worth taking. At least they are Sunni and easy to control.

In the late 1550s, we embarked on another war, against Oman and Persia.

Pretty modest gains, in territory. What isn't visible here is that both Oman and Persia are now Ottoman vassals. The Hedjaz, controlling Mecca and Medina, are vassals as well (and have been since 1518), giving me all of Arabia as vassals except one city owned by Aden, and what little belongs to The Kaliphate (orange). I plucked most of Oman's trading posts in the war with them, along with Masirah, which I took for its port. My involvement in the war also spared Nogai, the Khazak Horde, and Transoxania another defeat at the hands of Persia.

My economy has developed noticeably. My production %, in particular, has greatly increased, going from 32% to about 57%, and taking me from 8% below the leader to more than 10% above second place. I've also built a Fine Arts Center in Istanbul. I now have the technology for governors, who fight inflation, so I'm hoping I'm at or very near peak inflation. My military tech still is mediocre at best, albeit good enough to fight non-Europeans, but the infrastructure investments were expensive, and hopefully will be worth it. Other countries are starting to like me now that my badboy is lower, too. Which is kind of nice. The Europeans still don't like me (although Denmark has mellowed out a bit), but most other countries are starting to think I'm not half bad.

In Europe, Scotland has had a bit of a revival, taking most of both Scotland and Ireland, and France has expanded moderately, claiming Venice. Presumably colonization overseas is underway as well.

What's not shown: I got into an epic war with Muscowy and Poland over Finland. My initial advances got raped by a 50,000 strong army of Muscowy's. Poland then slipped in and started besieging all of my territories. However I split their army in half by moving my navy into the sund. From there I mobilized my forces and completely decimated the Polish. I was in the process of occupying their territory when the game ended. I plan to take their Lithuanian provinces from them.

Additionally I am now mobilizing a 30k strong army to combat Muscowy who is unable to get to me or the occupied Finnish provinces (Novgorod won't grant them access). I have a good 3 or 4 military tech levels on them and my generals are rather beastly so I hope to be able to defeat them given some time.

Lulz. You didn't split their army in half. You got 2 regiments stuck. :p For a truly epic war, try when I fought uberBavaria. And unlike Poland and Muscowy, their armies aren't totally outdated. I still whooped them.

And then they took it out on Matt :p

An uberBavaria who became HRE immediately beforehand. I initially had 30,000 guys against 70,000 Bavarians and Friends, then had only 15,000 before I had to call you in for 40,000 men. Managed to buy out Bavaria for 500 gold though, and progress in Italy south of me went swimmingly, they're all my vassals now. (Minus Mantua and Modena):)

Ottoman Empire, 1597

Diploannexation for territory expansion! Thanks to me playing Mr. Nice Guy, The Hedjaz liked me enough to be willing to be annexed.

Fez and Tunisia still resist my efforts to diplovassalize them. Seems like a money sink so far. Doesn't seem to matter how stable I am, it always fails. And I don't really want to recruit a humungous army just for scaring them into being diplovassalized.

Inflation has gone down by 6% since 1578, thanks to my governors. It's back to 17% now - what it was in 1518. Still planning to lower it more, though.

In Europe, not visible on the map, Spain destroyed Scotland, and most of Scotland and Ireland is now Spanish. Oldenburg and Saxony have also asserted their authority, reminding the newly-formed Netherlands that they are supposed to be a one-power minor, at least at home.

I've been realigning my policies to get colonists, but so far the only new colony is Senegal, which is currently yet another worthless west African territory which would cost a huge amount to develop (and take a long time regardless due to still getting just 0.6 settlers per year).

I now have arquebusses, but am still behind all of Europe, save Lithuania. My navy also fails to impress.

You don't joke with such things :) Already i had to quit one game, partly because Castille turned to Spain and decided to insult the hell out of me and then declare war while i was unprepared and alone.

In the sixth expansion, "Big Blue Blob", France will gain cores on all of Burgundy and the Netherlands right from 1399 and will gain an increase to manpower and land morale and a reduction to war exhaustion. Just to "balance" things, England's naval power will be increased and both Bohemia's and Austria's armies will be strengthened. :D

Starting a game with Cyprus, my goal is to take every small Island in Europe (Rhodes, Naxos, Crete, Sicily, Malta, Balearic Islands, Corsica, Sardinia, Gotland, Osel, and the Danish Islands)

Ohhh, I finished a EUIII game for the first time ever. Will post a screenshot quite soon.

Im using a blitzkrieg tactic, only 20 years have passed and I already took Sardinia, Corsica and the Balearic Islands. My infamy is high, so Im going to chill for 20 yeares and then Im going to try to take Rhodes before the Ottomans
