How is your EU3 Game going?

It appears as though there are sever risks for declaring war! Sounds realistic to me. ;) I have heard that cascading alliances are a little broken right now though, so I won't debate that it could cause problematic gameplay.

Oh yes, cascading alliances are crazy.

You need a lot of allies of your own...

After being done with the braindead ottomans in a few years, i moved on to liberate the rest of Greece.

However i soon discovered that this game devours an aeon to play, so i gave up.

Well i could not resist, in the end, to start a new game so as to see if i can do better.

And this turned out to be very interesting...

Although the ottomans are not yet wiped out, they are a four province minor. They lost their capital at Adrianople and now are centered in Bulgaria.
Those two green provinces in Africa are ottoman :) It was the result of an early war they had against the mameluks, a war which left them with just an army of 10.000, which got annihilated when it reached Europe by my 12 strong force.

Milan is my ally, they now got very strong after annexing Savoy.

Venice is reduced to a two province country, and i have plans for Naxos ;)

The Mamelunks are pretty much dead. This will help me since in the other game they were a serious antagonist.

Thanks :)

Relation with Naples is 125. It was the result of a strategic raising of good relations, and finally a royal wedding, back when they were a real threat of attacking me when i was still weak.

I am allied to the Papal states as well, so after annexing Karaman i may attack Naples if i have the casus belli of restoring Byzantine Italia :)

I find it hard to get CB to attack who I want (as Castille). I've annexed Granada and part of Morocco, but to attack Aragon and Portugal I needed to force it. I also forced an attack on southern Italy when I got the mission to give me cores on any acquired Italian provinces.

I guess what I'm really looking for is more ways to get CB that decreases my infamy cost from acquiring provinces. There's plenty of alliances going around that I could get into a war if I wanted to, but annexing comes with a huge infamy hit.

Advice?

Obscure Documents are your friend.

The war to drive the ottomans out of Europe was not that easy. Of course not due to the ottomans, who were dead already, but because of the system of alliances which brought Morocco against me. They had a bigger fleet, to my surprise, and broke through.
I quickly won against the ottomans, forcing them to hand over a province and release Bulgaria. Now they exist in some banana republic :)

Unfortunately the rest of the war was not that easy. I finally ended up anexing Karaman, after some battles with their allies, but in the west i was forced to cede Kerkyra to Morocco. Now i have to strike when the moment is right so as to take it back.

Hit print screen.

Current game, Sweden 1627 (1619 start date). Got a cozy defensive alliance with Poland and England (vassal Scotland) and a small foothold in NA around Nfld. Just got out of a looong war with Denmark where I was only able to wrestle Skane, Halland and Gotland from them. Danes also managed to totally sodomize my navy which sucks. Still, I came out on top and am now trying to bring my economy back to life. Ive also got monopolies in Thrace and Venice. I want Pommerania next as per my current mission, though not sure if its worth ticking off Poland who has a royal marriage there.

Ive noticed Austria loves the Sub-Saharan coast in this game. Savoy also tends to get on the colonization tip quite regularly.

Wow, the Ottomans and Spain are crazy.

Pah, check out Spain in my game!

Playing as France, Starting date was 4th July 1776. It's slightly tedious having to wait to get under my infamy limit to annex some more countries without ending up at war with half of Europe, especially with ridiculous manpower and income, and with my army totalling up to just over 100,000 men, as well as a huge navy. I think I have a grand total of one diplomatic agreement in my favour (Austria allows me to pass through their territory, which, considering our borders, are convienient for me getting to rebelling places quickly. :mwaha:)

Also, that's not me in Korea. And yes, that's America controlling Tierra del Fuego for some weird reason, and Portugal and the Netherlands controlling New Zealand, parts of Australia and the coastline of Washington state.

Yeah, I think I've only had one game in which the Ottomans did well. And the only reason they did well is because I created a massive power vacuum in Eastern Europe as Russia, destroying a rather beefy Lithuania. The Ottomans took this opportunity and managed to expand their borders all the way to the Kola Peninsula, the Kola Peninsula in Scandinavia. It was crazy.

It seems that this game eats up a lot of ram. I only have 2 gb though. Anyway it has got to a point where saves take more than a minute, and loading the save screen takes around 2. I can see it deteriorating from there as well...
Someone mentioned erasing the achievements content helps. Do you mean erasing the content of the txt, or erasing the actual text file (or even the entire folder?).
