How is your EU3 Game going?

Sweden is rather fun, as I can attest. :)

Lol at poland and Lithuania

Yes. Achaea is friggen baws in this game.

Also some vassals o mine:
Brandenburg, Holstein, Meissen, Oldenburg, Ansbach, and Brunswick (who I'm in a PU with)

My future plans involve getting my infamy down (it's just dropped below 50), then annexing Holstein and Brandenburg, followed by fighting with Hansa, Pommerania, Riga, and Novgorod.

Also I've been sucking up to Muscowy lately.

I've vassaled Korea as Russia, does that count? ^^

No.... I was thinking about colonizing Africa with Korea, I saw an AI take out Swahili with Korea, but can you colonize all of Sub - Saharan Africa

I read an AAR on the paradoxforums where the guy ended up smashing europe with the Iroquois. the key in the beginning seemed to be aiming at getting level 1 forts up an running in your provinces as well as keeping the number of provinces at the exact level where it does not cause a civil war.
Furthermore he seemed to be very cautious with where he expanded, which meant he only had one border province with a european power, which in turn he did his best to keep at very good relations.

Here is the link

Thankyou for ruining my evening, took hours to read it through.

There are people who hadn't read PrawnStar AARs? Wow, and I thought my activity on the Paradox forums was low.

As for the poster (Germanicus12) who mentioned his "strange" war with the ottomans, i came to notice that the AI calculates what it should give in a peace negotiation based on three factors:

1) How many provinces of it you occupy.

2) How many provinces of its allies you occupy. If they are vassals then you get even more warscore in your favor.

3) Last but definitely not least: what standing armies it has, compared with your own.

This means that you can forget signing lucrative peace-deals if you have not wiped out most of the enemy forces. I had games where i occupied almost all of the ottomans and they would not even give away a single province, because an ally of theirs had an army of similar strength as my own, and so the result of the war was deemed to be undecided yet ;)

Yeah... I came to that conclusion myself when I discovered that the Ottomans were allied with the Golden Horde. I did not realize it earlier because they never attacked me. In my second war against the Ottomans I had an army ready to invade the Golden Horde.

The war ended with a lucrative deal in which I captured all of Ottoman territory minus their capital and all of the Golden Horde's Black Sea provinces.

List of new Byzantine Allies: (How ally became ally)
Poland (During war against Golden Horde)
Lithuania (Same as above)
Muscowy (Just before the war against Golden Horde, they were instrumental in keeping the Horde army busy in the north as I breezed through the south, they also gained several provinces in the peace deal.)
Milan (Allied when Venice declared war on me.)
Naples (Allied after I handed a them crushing defeat)
Castile (Allied after I took Alexandria)
England (Same as above)

Not a bad job on my part if I may say so, given that I've only been controlling Milan for the last 25-30 years or so.:D

Thought you weren't in the previous updates about that game. Good to see England reuniting a bit.

Ottoman Empire, 1509

Four wars since the last update, and a significant expansion of territory, including Ottoman Italy.

OttomanEmpire1509.png

First war was against Austria, Genoa, and Ulster, and netted me Tirol and Steiermark, the latter being important as one of only three gold mines in Europe (Toledo and Samara being the others), giving me two (the other being Armenia). I also gained Kerch and Kaffa in the Crimean area from Genoa, and repulsed an invasion of Apulia by Ulster (who'd have thought...). However, I made a mistake in accepting Tirol in peace - I had actually wanted Istria (Trieste), and because of my mistake had no way of reinforcing Steiermark/Tirol. This war also exposed a weakness - due in part to infamy (below the limit, but not low) and in part to French expansionism, France, who had military access through Austria, DOW'ed me after I made peace with Austria. I had enough forces in Tirol to repulse them, but it was worrisome - France has arquebuses (land tech 9) and I have land tech 3 .

While waiting for the truce to expire, I DOW'ed Croatia and took all of their lands excecpt Croatia itself. Practically, this amount to a territory grab that makes my territory look a bit nicer and be a bit less coastal.

At some point I also took out Ak Koyunlu, gaining Kurdistan.

The fourth war was also against Austria, gaining me Istria. Again France DOW'ed me after I made peace, but again they were repulsed. Still, if they hadn't been willing to accept a quick peace, I could have been in trouble. I don't think I would have been able to win a drawn-out war against them, due to the tech difference if nothing else.

Balance of power is now a chief concern. Beating up on Austria has been good for my territory, but all of a sudden it seems like there's a power vacuum as a result. Spain, Portugal, England, Cologne, and my sole European friend Franconia (in Heidelberg) are allied, so there is an alternate power structure to France, but none in central Europe who I feel could take on France. Austria is being pawned pretty badly right now too, with Bohemia occupying the middle part of 'the snake', Friesland occupying Holland and Wurzburg, rebels occupying their Italian territory, and 31,000 Hungarians besieging Vienna. They could legitimately collapse from the internal and external pressure. Only a few provinces in the Low Countries are still completely under their control (not occupied or besieged).

All the same, I'm proud to have occupied Vienna twice already :smug:!

The biggest external change is the replacement of the Timurids with Persia. The Timurids have regrouped as the Mughal Empire, which occupies Afghanistan and a few other minor Stans. Delhi still dominates India.
