How is your EU3 Game going?

Im still in that burgandy game in the 1560's and i have under direct control most o brittain and france(France doesnt exist anymore), parts of spain, and colonies all over the world. I also have most of the HRE vassalized, yet its impossible for me to be emperor right now because i have like 50 infamy. Diplomacy is not my strong suit. Still, its crazy being in a game without having either france or england, right now the only real competitor is scandinavia, thats right, scandinavia.

A query : What is the way to get hold of monastic nation territories ? My current mission is to get hold of Fruiria or something in Aquilia, they are my vassal, 200 relation, but aint getting the option to annex .. :(

Also, does having too many vassals increase your stability cost ?
MY vassals include, Ottomans, Byzantium, Bulgaria, Wallachia, Zapotec, Maya, Fez, Morrocco, Srilanka.

They have to be at peace and they have to have been a vassal for over ten years. Save your game before demanding annexation so if they refuse you can just try again until they accept.

That's very close to cheating. You can just bribe them back to 190+ relations again easily.

If you're going to save-spam, you might as well console-annex the country in question.

It also has to be 10 years since you diplo annexed someone else. It should tell you why the button is greyed out if you hover the mouse over it.

Playing a new game as Austria. I've never played in the HRE before. Anyone recc some good Austria AARs?

oh 10 years for each diplo annex ? that would explain .. thanks a lot guys ...

Out of interest when trying to form Italy how did you annex the Papal States? As far as I'm aware there is an event that will try to get you to re release Rome so I'm wondering if you just took the negative event or somehow got a core on Rome?

I've never heard of this, and I have formed Italy. You annex the papal states like any other country, and then you get a core on Rome like any other province. The papal states will reamerge as long as there are catholic teochracies left.

However, a big catholic country can get a mission to restore the pope to Rome, wich gives it a conquest casus belli against you. It can be bad news if France gets this.

If there are no Catholic theocracies left, then the Papal states will die off alltogether. At that point, you'll get the release of Rome event. Shouldn't be a problem considering Germany has tons of archbishops.

Really? If so, does that only apply if you are catholic?

Edit: I checked it out. You have to be catholic, you can say no, and if Italy exists, it doesn't happen.

The Restore the Holy See mission is one of the most badly-designed missions in the game (and that's saying something). A big country getting it is reason enough to load the game as it and cancel the mission.
