How is your Victoria Game going?

Germany will never form now :(

Good. This is third Heart of Darkness game I've played, and in the previous two, Germany became an unstoppable blob within 40 years of game start.

French game. Germany won. Uk second, me 3rd, USa 4th. Russia fascist in this game. Austria took a pounding. Poland did well. I colonised most of North Africa, not anywhere else though (apart from starting colonies). Netherlands conquered Belgium right at the start, so I took Belgium from them later on.

Edit end date to 1945. Have Germany annenx Poland for cleaner borders and parts of Austria. :P

What happened to Italy and Romania? It looks like an EU3 game.

I would guess the Italians lost a war and nationalists got in on the war. Italy in one of my games was missing Tuscany and Sardinia-Piedmont, who both revolted out of the union.

Its also possible Italy was formed by Redshirts and Two Sicilies just didn't join it.

Itay formed in the North, the Two Scilies were never part of it, and Italy lost every war they had where they tried to conquer them.

Not really sure what was going on with Romania, there were pleanty of wars over their territory though!

Russia collasped a couple of times, hence Latvia and those German/Polish/Romanian borders.

So I just finished a game as the Confederation of North Angola, released from Portugal. It was a fun, challenging game - especially the early bits. I had an extremely small population and very little territory - just a strip of coastline. I was, thankfully, civilized and inherited Portugal's tech, but it was still quite challenging in the beginning. I spammed culture, commerce, and industry techs so that I was rank 16 by the time the Scramble occured and managed to carve out a large slice of Africa - and conquered Mozambique.

What really helped was conquering Transvaal before the Scramble occurred. Their gold provinces were life savers in actually funding things; I only fought four wars of aggression this game. Transvaal, Oranje, and two against Mozambique. Oranje was the only challenging one; I had to fight both the USA and the UK since they were in the UK's sphere and friendly with the US, but I managed to cause the war to be so costly for the US (the war leader) that they eventually white peaced out.

I didn't really accomplish much of note, but it was a fun, isolationist game and I eventually adopted business schools & tycoon capitalism, focusing largely on just letting my country run itself, and it did OK, I think. After I hit secondary power status I don't believe I fell out of it once, but I never managed to climb to great power status, either, though I didn't try very hard.

Great Britain just aided the Polish and liberated them from their Russian oppressors.

It's taken me a few tries to get a united Arabian state. You have to leave your NF on extra soldiers to get replacements because the new siege rules end up attriting your army into nothingness, and recruiting new units (I went for cavalry) takes years because of shortages in the world market. I'm happy in my current game that I've only lost 2 brigades of my starting troops. The key to annexing Hedjaz is to declare war on their ally (in my case, Yemen), get them into the war, occupy both countries, then add a Conquest wargoal and annex both within a month or two otherwise the Turks get involved.

Also, getting lucky with a +4 attack general on my first recruitment is probably a must. Otherwise, you won't be able to win the battles by a wide-enough margin to keep your army in the field and siege provinces.

Gawd I need to play a major. Arabia sucks balls, you have no tax base, can't reinforce worth anything, and the Persians and Turks won't let you be.
