How will America Fall?

Barbarian invaders from the south will stream across the border and eventually break apart the Kingdom of Texmex from the union.
Troubles in heartland America causes the president to order his troops in the outmost provinces to pack up and head home leaving Hawaii and Alaska in a state of turmoil and internal conflicts for a couple of hundred years before Scandinavian ships start appearing along the coast looking for ripe spoils.
The country is split up in two. The western part, Pacifica, continues the American legacy from its new capital city Los Angeles, aka "the second Bysantium". The eastern part collapses and while the newly appointed King of Richmond grasps control over the southeast (except the Republic of Florida ruled by the Council of Elders), the northeast pledge allegiance to the prime minister in Ottawa who claims to be the emperor of The Holy American Empire of Canadian Nation.

How will america Fall?

Like all great civilisations, America will be besetted by corruption, disunity and scientific, economic, social and spiritual stagnation. It will slowly decay into oblivion, overtaken by other, newer, nations and finally extinguished as a civilisation. But of course, elements of that civilisation will remain eg being absorbed into another civilisation's culture and so on. How long? The USA had been around for 300 years or so. The Ottomans had lasted 700, the Romans 1200 and the Chinese 4000. I would guess the US would start to enter a period decline in about 150 - 250 years, but the "Fall" will happen much later, maybe not for thousands of years.

(I'll make a detailed story on how this might happen later, if this thread is still around)

As for the thread: I'm going to have to go with the "we will not fall, but fade away" train of thought, though I doubt even that will happen for a long time. Even if we are no longer capable of doing whatever we want militarily, our economy is so immense that we will sill maintain supremacy in the world for a long time.

I dont think the US will fall anytime soon, as they have reached another level of power compared o the Romans and even my beloved british empire, so it will take a hell of a lot to make them fall. Maybe some kind of Galactic war in a thousand years time??

Provided I don't desire to interfere with the natural progression of things, America will probably remain a considerable power until decades of extreme interconnection of the world renders national governments useless.

America will fall in this time frame (0-100 years) Because withen that time frame I'll be conquering the Earth at the head of my Legions of Evil!

Sometime this century China and India will catch up to America in terms of economic power, but the US will still be a very large power in the world, and will remain so for a very long time.

It depends how long it takes the UK to decide that the "Independance Experiment" has failed.

Or, maybe other nations such as the EU will catch it up but the US will remain a pretty cool place to be.

Impossible to know, and i dont know what you mean by "fall".

If by "fall" become weak. Then i dont know that either. I dont see us becoming weak economically or militarily in the near future.

I dont even think we will 'fade' that much. If anything we will lead the way into space itself and carry our flag there if needs be.

But seriously, it already has fallen. It did a long time ago.

I voted 0-100. How many of you have heard about the American Hiroshima? Basically, it is Al Qaeda's plan to set off small nuclear devices in as many American cities at once. According to some sources, Al Qaeda has procured 40-48 nuclear weapons from the former Soviet Union. If they were to successfully carry out their plan, America would fall.

They might try this as early as September 11th of this year.

I hate to admit it but it has happened to all other great nations and must happen to us sometime. Man it makes me sad just to type this right now.

Maybe not obscurity, but we won't be numero uno anymore.
