but it would take many many many generations
I am not aware of any new distinctive qualities being observed in the last 1000 years.Drool4Res-pect said:Well we won't notice eveloution buddy because is so slow. Scients say although are heads have gotten much bigger over the millena, that they won't get bigger anymore until women grow to be bigger and wider after pubrety because otherwise our heads wouldn't be able to fit though being born.
That cannot be right, because I posted exactly that (in your defense). See Post #42Bozo Erectus said:The problem is that you fail to understand that the effects of gravity would create seperate breeding populations, which would lead to speciation.
Does anyone believe humans have removed natural selection as a force controlling our evolution?
Don't forget that a lot of the world doesn't have access to this kind of health care, and that many countries still have infectious diseases as a selection pressure. With things such as the NHS and charity.. are humans still experiencing any evolution, or has it slowed down to negligable levels. Selection pressure, which is the driving force in evolution is devoid in our lives.
...and why we arnt telepaths yet![]()
Mutations occur at the same rate. All natural selection does is alter the likelihood that the gene will be successful or unsuccessful in the population. Different genes will still arise in the different populations and while some will be unsuccessful, through chance, some will be successful. Some genes may become fixed in the population. Then there's also the founder effect: Whenever a population splits, through chance, the founding population of each new population will have different frequencies of different alleles. These will be carried through into the offspring. So the allele frequencies will start off slightly different. Some may vary quite a lot between the two populations. You could seperate our populations as much as you want, but unless one of them loses modern medical technology, I don't see how they will evolve.
Sure we are, except that natural selection doesn't have as big of a rule as it used to.
Everyone's breeding, even the incompetent. It's still evolution, just not as directed by natural selection forces.
Humans will not evolve anymore unless our population becomes seperated.
The way it is now, no specific genes are being emphasized over others, so speciation is not occuring.
(I hope it sounds like i know what im talking about.)![]()
I agree with the first bit but that emphasises how evolution is still occuring...In the modern world, stupid people are getting laid more than smart people, therefore, evolution is dead.
