After getting whooped because of my weak diplo skills on a warmonger map, I decided to roll me another start, so I may finally beat this cheater-cheaser AI on deity :)

This is my 2nd roll :crazyeye:

I have not looked around yet, so I can't tell whether or not it's beatable. Gonna take a shot at it now... Keep your fingers crossed for me ;)

Would settle 1E here, yep no joke ;)
Even with partly 1 gold less (1h and 2c more on city tile makes that look less bad) it's still great, but that early advantage should make sure barbs and so on get easier.

Very understandable. For a fast fast start.
And early game, that's hard to work all tiles anyways.

There's also the fact the more gold tiles you get, least is the cut research term.
Between 20 turns to 13-10 turns for a tech thanks to 2 gold mines, the third may cut 3 mores turns or less. Again, inverse function of tech turns. :crazyeye:

Maybe 1S to leave room for a Rice/Cow city on the coast. You still get the Gold/Plains Hill city square benefit, keep the corn, and you can grow river cottages to be used by the cap later w/the coastal city!

With 1 NE you can work all 6 resources

Maybe 1SE for your first city, and 2W for your second? Those 2 cities would have a ton of cool tiles to work between them.

There is a floodplain within the BFC if you settle in place. That's not a spoiler, you can see it. Here's a spoiler though:

Spoiler :
there is actually a fourth gold PH, too. The surrounding land is so ridiculous for Willem. Floodplains galore, stone, marble..and I've only scouted for a handful of turns.

This ain't my start; if I want to spoil myself to the max, I go the rear parts of CIV forums.
In S&T forums, I perfer sh-tty starts, leaders or neighbourhood.
Just like my deity funs thingy where I could show my newbieness with settler at one pop. ;)

Imo easily best move! :P

I'm probably the minority here but I'd opt to grow to happy cap while pumping out 5-6 warriors to fogbust and then start additional settler/worker production. Deity AI already starts with settlers so getting boxed in is more luck of draw due to AI proximity. Plus they have Archer/scout spam which usually makes fogbusting rather easy.

Happy cap > settler/worker production should still let you settle 5 cities by 1000 BC and tech Alpha by around 2000 BC with Capital working Corn/Cows/1FP cottage/and 3 gold mines.

Meh - wet rice is definitely worth more than two useless coast tiles, besides they won't matter until the very late game when the city reaches size 19-20. The game would probably be over by then; in the meantime it can work better tiles or run specs. It would be a monster commerce city, even at just size 6, working all three food tiles and all three riverside financial gold mines. 1E looks good too, for the 2:food:2:hammers:3:commerce: city tile making for a faster start

Honestly, I'd maybe consider moving between the cows and river (2N 1E). Wet rice, a grassy cow, and one riverside gold are still beautiful for a capital and you can put your second city to work on the other golds.

its kinda hard to figure out, how to settle this perfectly... or im just a noob, which is probably why i find it hard ;)

jarhead, whats with the ., period-comma-openings?

Man...I am just not a deity player. Amazing land and the leader most able to capitalize on it (imo), I could not stop the religious love-fest and lib went in 400-something. Never got declared on myself and I still just can't keep up, never had enough techs to bribe AIs against each other.

I would go 1N (and hope there is nothing south of the hills...). +6:food: is needed to work the gold, so I would be worried about slow growth without the cows and rice. But I assume the proper deity players know what they're talking about with the 1E.

I recently had my most ridiculous start (which I thought I'd mention for no reason) - 2 golds, 2 wet corns, wheat, grass cow, and a nice river. Unfortunately that was excessive food, and some had to be given to other cities :(.

,.you're a deity and you're having a hard time figuring out where to settle??
Surely You Must Be Joking.

i have yet to beat my first deity game... whats with the .,?! you might as well answer instead of dully repeating it ;)

in not hard to find a great spot obviously -.- its hard to finde the best spot

Unfortunately that was excessive food, and some had to be given to other cities :(.

so what? thats even better!

If you settle 1N, you are giving up a quick start.
On Deity barbs enter borders turn ~38, and here you need 16 for a worker alone with moving north.
You get no hammer bonuses so slow warris, you cannot even work 1c for your first 5 turns..
that rice and 3 gold mines will be of no use if you lose before turn 50.
