Nice. I just watched it from your link. It was hardly a "spanking"...in fact, I was rather suprised to see Bill O'Reilly gather some applause with his comments as well.

Kinda silly for Letterman to say that he thinks O'Reilly is 60% crap, but then admit he never watches the show. Canned statement meant to jolt the audience, but it kind of backfired.

And I have to give the guy credit for having the balls to go on Letterman fully knowing he was going to be grilled.

Concur. It was actually some nice banter that didn't get out of hand; Mr. O'Reilly did very well with some important points. I thought it was good.

I was a little surprised to see Letterman get into it with O'Reilly. In the past he's been pretty easy on guests from the political and media worlds.

Of course O'Reilly had to start out by repeating one of his "War On Christmas" lies which has been proven to be completely false - the changing of the lyrics of "Silent Night." The lyrics were written for a children's Christmas play by the musical director of the Bel Aire, CA Presbyterian Church - the church Ronald Reagan attended - in 1988. The guy used the "Silent Night" melody because it's familiar to the kids. The play has been performed at schools and churches hundreds of times since. O'Reilly certainly knows this but, as he so often does, simply keeps repeating the lie.

In 2001, O'Reilly wrote an article for the WorldNet Daily in which he said of Letterman:
"The late-night program hosted by David Letterman is the toughest interview show on television.

That's because Mr. Letterman is a smart guy who can spot a phony with telescopic accuracy and expects his guests to bring something to the table. If a guest begins to sink on this show, the bottom is a long way down."
I guess Bill's still looking up from the bottom.

i saw this yesterday, its great! :goodjob:

ive always loved letterman, and not because of politics, hes been a favourite of mine for a very long time, now i know why!

I wonder if O'Reilly at all realised during his "War on Christmas" spew that the two most prominent people on the stage with him are Jewish.

I wouldn't call it a spanking. O'Reilly got some applause, and Letterman saying 60% of what O'Reilly said is crap, then admiting he never watchs the show made Letterman look kinda bad.

Even if David dosen't watch O'Reilly's show he's still right. I watch the Factor and O'Reilly is easily 60% crap-more like 80%.And a sexist pig to boot, lets not forget that.

I wouldn't call it a spanking, but somewhat of a firm slap on the wrist.

I detest Bill O' Reilley. Casting himself as fair and balanced whilst being the lapdog of the current administration is foolhardy.

I don't like either of them. Letterman came off kind of goofy, playing to the crowd as usual, he looked like an idiot. O'Reily certainly doesn't need his help to look bad.

A reminder of why I don't watch TV (and when I did why I used to watch Leno).

"The stuff you say is lies, but I've never actually listened to you before."

Letterman looked like an idiot. I'm glad I watch Leno.

would you watch crap? also how long dose it take for you to recognize crap as crap?

cause that might be the problem, and the reason you watch oreilys show! :D

i was with you untill that last line ruined it for me... LENO?!? :vomit:

Agreed, Leno is horrible. I'd laugh more watching O'Reilly than that guy.

Leno sucks, Conan and Letterman rock, end of story. Only good thing on Leno is their "Point - Counter Point" thing, and only because it is two random people making the jokes, not Leno. Not to mention that Leno's monologue takes by conservative estimates approximately 7 decades.

When Conan takes over Leno in 2009 it will be the start of a late night comedy enlightenment.
I hope you're right, but my prediction is that Conan will get suckier. It's what happened to Leno when he moved.

I think he may have meant that sixty percent of what O'Reilly had said in Letterman's show was crap. Then again, I'm probably wrong.
