Imperium Offtopicum: The Aftermath

From what I can tell, Sombra wants to start another World War (the fifth one, I think). Then he wants to kill every human being on the planet!

Can someone please confirm this???

General Darkmatter condemns the attack, and calls on the world to stay calm and not do anything rash. In the mean time, after thoroughly searching the entire country it is obvious that the stolen nuke is no longer in Monaco and San Marino and border will be opened immediately.

The Zulu Confederation strongly condemns the attack, and is willing to send both engineers to erect a Radiation Wall around the new red and/or yellow zones, as well as some of our *coughmercenarycough* guardsmen to prevent a resurgent Abhorrent attack on Marian territory.

Federation President: there was an attack on marian soil? by that missing nuke? god damn it. and its in africa of all places, AFRICA! the pure land!

*five more minutes of ranting, swearing, and some incoherent threats against terrorists*

... the Marian refugees will be relocated to the more modernized cities, where we are better able to take care of them. and, we ask the Insane marian President not to nuke anything. it wont solve this crisis, it will only make it worse.

Wait? Sombra de Mar is alive and you know where it he is? (in character here)

we don't know where he is, but we are fairly sure he is in marian Africa somewhere.

also, we may have to watch the fallout...

(A nuclear attack on the Marians? And it wasn't us? :p)

The KNE watches this recent developments with interest, but in the end doesn't really care about the outcome.

We'll build a retaining wall from our experience at Anti-Abhorrent Fortifications. We are also working hard at extracting our nanograms of Unobtainium to, say, titanium so that its powerful any-ionic effects can be diluted and be more useful. Perhaps to starve out radiation? We don't have many research facilities and our only outstanding resource is the possession of three nanograms of pure Unobtainium, as well as a theoretical seven nanograms more in the 6000 tonnes of Unobtainium-rich rock dug from near the mantle's upreach into the African Rift Valley. We hope our samples we have sent earlier will be put to good use.

pt_rh_test.jpg

One of the steps to recover pure Unobtainium suspended in mercury; this solution in aqua regina is composed of 0.01*10^-20% unobtainium, some of the purest sample currently undergoing purification. It will take on average thousands of barrels of this intermediate process to percue 1 nanogram of pure unobtainium for the use of alloys.

Nanogram and alloy imply that you will use Uno successfully on a molecular level.

King Wudashi was in shock when he heard of the attack on his fellow neighbors the Marians. Africa is the only region of the world not heavily bombed during the World War, and is aplace where many people can earn a living to buy food and water. These nuclear strikes are threatening the only region in the world to still be able to say that the people no not of war, but peace and living. The King has called for the Royal Army of Sudan to mobolize, and part is begining to march to Marian Federation to protect it from any more strikes.

To the Marian Federation:
Nukes are not the answer, peace is. When you are bombing another, that means they will retaliate, bring more unneeded war to the continent, I ask you to please stop this.

That is our try. With its density and such, pure Unob, even with its strength at deionization, is simply too little to affect anything. We hope that we can spread it out without losing too much anti-radiation effectiveness or, in the worse case, provide passive protection. (I am making stuff up because no one wanted to flesh Unob out.)

OCC: For all confused, I think I know whats going on here. After careful re-reading of Tani’s post, here is the abridged version:

Sombra wants to make a gene bomb to kill all humans and has invested a large amount of money. He activated a massive kill switch that has made the Marian Republic completely defenceless. He also seems to have gain respect from an Abhorrent and is hoping to get them all on his side to kill all humans. Before he hit the kill switch, he has fired a nuclear missile at the Petrograd near the New Hemptimate border. This is probably to start a big war. He also seems to be hiding in Latin America.

I sincerely hope this is right. If it isn’t, please correct me. :D /OCC

IC: @Omega: So are you saying that you would leave Britain if Boston (which I assume is in the Abhorrent contorled territories near the Confederate/Great Plains border) was free from Abhorrents? The radiation is as bad in Boston as it is in Britain so if would be beneficial to both parties to accept.

THE ROYAL GAZZET (A Weekly British Newspaper) ISSUE 60:

General Sacked!

General Smith of the RAID (Royal Abhorrent Invader Destruction) division in the Armed forces has been sacked! He is responsible for the massive blunder that occurred in RAID where the General put the wrong co-ordinates into a computer, costing taxpayers millions and wasting Britain’s and Monaco’s time. A new General, General Psmith has replaced him. The Prime Minister has acknowledged that this will never happen again.

World War Five???

In response to the Marian crisis, Britain has organised it’s military including the deployment of reserve soldiers. Many have speculated that this Nuclear destruction could cause another world war, possibly one that could end our planet. King Nicholas has stated that “While Britain does not want an all out war, there is a high probability that it could occur. We need to be ready if that does happen.”

In related news, the New English situation could be resolved soon as the Prime Minister announced earlier today that “We’re working on it. It’s too early to tell, but there is a high probability that a peaceful solution could work.” No other announcements about the issue have been made.

Oh. It is on.

Spoiler :
He was supposed to be in Kinshasa, being El Presidente and all. But he wasn't. He was smarter than that.

He knew the world was full of narrowminded individuals, Kaetif and human alike. During his time as President, he had taken it upon himself to restore the dignity of the Marian Republic after the disastrous Third World War.

Doing so involved establishing Marian military power. The defense budget had remained large thanks to the Social Nationalist agenda of sustainable deficits. While vertical farms were built in some regions, weapons were being developed in others.

It was for this reason that, despite widespread technophobia in Marian society, military technology remained top notch, even without the robotics of the Operarius era. Such a high tech military machine had a downside - it was vulnerable to cyberattacks. As such, Sombra had overseen the development of a national killswitch, ostensibly to prevent a hacking of things such as the missile system.

The killswitch was a wonderous success, and tests carried out in secret. Everywhere from Peru to Iberia to the Congo could be shut down with but the use of the President's "second nuclear football."

But military and foreign endeavors did not stop there. While tensions were roused in Cantabria to try and cover up the assault on Brazzaville, Sombra's name - Spanish for "Shadow" - couldn't have been more appropriate. Disguised as strategic aid, he had actually laundered billions to insurgents around the globe, often without the knowledge of most legislators. He was a virtual autocrat, though the People loved him and so the legislature couldn't really do much.

But it went from the despicable to the downright horrifying. His various Genome Projects had a far more sinister goal in mind: they were indeed studying genetic differences, but not for civilian purposes. He was attempting to find genes exclusive to the human race, and from there, build gene bombs theoretically capable of exterminating all human beings. The research was still in progress, though much had been gathered already from dissection of "volunteers." Many of these volunteers were technically executed, but in reality had been shipped off to be used as guinea pigs.

He had already dispensed copies of the data to various "friends" of his with research capabilities. They could finalise the project if they so wished.

With that, it was time for the next phase. Pulling the briefcase - the aide's severed hand still hanging from it - towards himself, he opened it... soon pressing the switch. Thanks to a little re-wiring, it would take about an hour before the killswitch activated. That was all the time the Presidente needed...

Taking the second briefcase, he surveyed the array of corpses, once his personal guard, that littered the room. He merely grinned at the grisly mess he had caused, his claws as red as his eyes. He grasped one of the vanquished corpses in a claw as he moved towards the large, thick glass only a few feet away.

On the other side, a white-furred, savage Abhorrent, looking like a wolf but with sharp, hedgehog-like protrusions along its body, stood, claws tapped against the glass. But it wasn't aggression that caused this posture. It was delight, pure sadistic delight. Delight at seeing Sombra so ruthlessly and efficiently butcher his entire guard and their pathetic firearms.

Sombra had encountered this creature many times before. Ever since the dark and light-furred creatures laid eyes upon eachother, they took an interest in the other. It was through this interest that the real developments of the project had been made. Usually without company, he would walk into the enclosure, alone.

"Espada," as Sombra would name him, after the word for "sword," had naturally attacked during their first meeting. But "Espada" would quickly find himself rendered from predator to prey, subdued by the large, bulky wolf-man. His spikes, while like daggers - hence his name - would not cause Sombra discomfort or weakness, not matter how deep they dug into his flesh. Sombra would just hold Espada tight, depriving him of his killing prowess, and would continue to do so every time Espada tried to make a lunge.

It was through this, that Sombra learned the Abhorrents weren't complete savages. Such should have been apparent by how much they relished a fight, how much they relished the fear. There was one thing all Abhorrents seemed to understand: dominance.

Akin to the wolves that he himself was descended from, Sombra had learned the Abhorrents respected power. At least, Espada did. But it all made sense - humans were picked off so readily because they were soft, weak, not standing a chance without their precious technology. His theory seemed to have been proven true: physical prowess was the basis of Abhorrent hierarchy. They had no taste in "civilisation" because it made one neglect the physical for the mental, the martial for the cultural.

And Sombra, having been engineered to be above the average human in his physical capabilities, could naturally command such respect. Beyond that, he shared their bloodlust, something Espada clearly approved of. Sombra not only had the power, but he actively used it.

Espada, like any good canine, was quick to sit and await Sombra's command as the latter entered the enclosure, not even bothering to close it - everyone at the facility was deceased. At least, any he had encountered.

"My friend... you must be famished." He threw the corpse, and the severed hand, to a side of the room. Even with such tempting morsels only a few yards away, Espada stood at attention. "Eat." With those words, Espada naturally rushed towards Sombra's gift to him.

Discarding much of his Presidential wear, the massive wolf Kaetif sat down on the floor, which was that of a natural grass. The glass window was a two-way mirror, a means of observing the Abhorrents.

"I was born here..." Sombra said as he surveyed the room with his crimson gaze, Espada listening even as he fed. It was clear the Abhorrents had the capability to understand words as much as emotions, if only somewhat... they just didn't care for those words when they came from the weak.

"Operarius desired to make super soldiers... though he didn't succeed. As enhanced as we all were, we were not what he wanted... he tried to destroy us. How poetic we ended up destroying him instead..." Sombra looked at his bloodstained claws, relishing the fond memory of his personal disemboweling of the tyrant.

"...he took someone important to me..." A tear or two seemed to pool in the wolf's eyes. While such emotion would seem to betray weakness, Espada knew that despite Sombra's soft side, Sombra was anything but weak! "It was as much a personal... as a political affair."

"After our revolution's success, things seemed good... but my friends turned on me. They said my desire to maintain our military prominence, and aggressively protect Kaetif the world over, would cause another world war. My only thought was I wasn't a coward like them and their 'peace.' Where was their 'peace' when Operarius was in command?!"

He growled... and Espada's muzzle seemed to curl into a little bit of a smile. He liked Sombra when he was angry. Anger often led to so much wonderful violence!

Sombra sighed, "...while I drove them from power, it was meaningless. My People supported me, supported my vision. They saw Blitz as the incompetent buffoon he was, and his wife as the ruler behind the curtain. They chose me."

"Alas... things didn't go as planned. Even as the world caved in on us, my people stood firm with me. They saw me as building a stronger country, one worthy of the Sons of Mars." He started to growl again... face in a disgusted grimace.

"And now that a pack of fools have killed so many, I am seen as the perpetrator of this incident." He slammed his fist into the wall... which almost seemed to crack a little.

He stood back up, opening the briefcase.

"When I tried to lead by example, they would not follow. When I tried to lead by force, they resisted. I've learned..." He put his claw upon the key, the missile silo's own key having long since been bypassed for just this occassion... "That this world is beyond salvation! It is but one great phoenix... a fourth war, shall emerge from the ashes of the third..."

He turned the key.

"And a new order shall emerge from the ashes of the Fourth."

With Espada done feeding, Sombra was quick to fashion himself a cloak from the Presidential cape. Being in Latin America, he would resurface when the time was right, hopefully upon gaining the loyalty of those he once considered beasts.... Espada would be invaluable in this regard.

President de Mar has gone completely batcrap insane, but is assumed to have died by nearly everyone on the ground.

While he had planned to destroy Pacifistan instead, it would seem SDI prohibits such a thing. As such, the rogue nuke will instead strike part of Petrograd's territory. Attacked province in red, on the border between Petrograd and Hetmanate.

With shut down defenses, no offensive/defensive moves will be made. Let's just hope the Abhorrents don't receive word the Marian defensive systems will be toast for... well, who knows how long.

---

The Marian Federation, meanwhile, would deny firing the weapon... but the killswitch's effects have shut off nearly all forms of communication, making it impossible to warn Petrograd of a third party being responsible...

...until it is too late, most likely.

General Darkmatter has responded to the Marin Federation on youtube.

The room was cool, and the air calm. The sun was setting outside and the last flickers of light escaped through the windows, only to wither away from the encroaching darkness. A maid walked past, and lit a few candles hanging from the walls. Shadows flickered beneath the flames, and everyone in the room looked forward with soft, solemn faces at the bed. Nobody spoke a word as the frail old man, under the bed covers, slowly rose his hand for his only son to come forward. His son walked towards the bed, slowly and quietly, as if to not even disturb the air. He kneeled as the old man rested his head on his pillows to calm the pain that wreaked him from the inside. The son sat there staring, knowing, that there was nothing he could do. Suddenly the frail old man brought his head up again, his long gray hair no longer on the pillow, and he faced his son. He began to speak in a soft, but stern voice.

“Son, son, my very dear son, I am not much longer for this world. My once great muscles refuse to carry me any longer, and my breath is slowly escaping me. I have no regrets for my life, as I did all that I could do to achieve my desires, you being one of them. I came into this world, not unlike you, small, innocent, not knowing what I was destined to do, nor where I was heading. I stumbled from place to place, town to town, city to city, looking for my calling, waiting for me to find it and grasp it with all my might. Eventually, after years of search I did find it, and I did grasp it with all my might. Once I saw it I knew that this is what my life had been leading up to, and what my purpose was on this dear old planet. And so I ran with it, my entire life based off this one calling, my destiny, you could say. I did all I could to please it and succeed in it, although I may not have accomplished all that I could, I know that I did my very-“ He began to cough in a violent fit, small droplets of blood splattered over his arm as he covered his mouth. His son moved towards him to help, but the frail man shooed him away with the swing of his arm. His son backed off and his cough subsided. He began to speak again.

“My breaths are getting shorter and shorter, I cannot talk for much longer, I must cut my story short. So, my son, please listen to me, do not follow in my footsteps if you do not wish to. It may not be your destiny, nor your calling, do not feel forced to just because of what I have built up and accomplished over my life, because, you see, that was my life. And now it is your turn to wander, and find your calling, whatever it may be. Do whatever makes you happy, not what you think you should do to please me. Right now, I may look like I’m sad and in pain, but I am not, for I am the happiest man alive, knowing that I spent my entire life doing what made me happy, and having such a great son as you. So please son, if you do not want to follow in my footsteps, do not, for I wish you to die as happy as I am right now.”

The son looked at his father, a small smile broke as small tears streamed down his face. He hugged his father, and his father hugged back with all the might he had left within him. As soon as their long embrace ended, the frail old man once again spoke. “Son, there is just one last thing I would like to do before I die, and knowing I’m not going to be here much longer, I want to die knowing this will be done.” He motioned for his son to move in close, and he whispered in his ear, the smile on the son’s face disappeared, and instead, he gave a small nod to his father, who did the same back. The son then walked out of the room, and the old man once again rested his head on the pillow, and closed his eyes. His life was complete.

As the sun set and the emperor drew his last breath, a new, bright sun rose above the Marian Republic. And with that, was the end, of the Empire of the Rising Sun.

@ Mad Man / Double A:

Aww, don't be mad just because I added some spice to this pot. :p

@ Joecoolyo:

Interpretations:

-The "bright sun" is a euphemism for a nuke, and the last wish of the Emperor was to see his old nemesis get one last blow

-The "sun" refers to the Marian Republic taking up a leadership role, or, more likely, replacing Japan as the main antagonist of the game ;)

-Something different!

The Federation's fate will be an interesting one...

I'm mad at you too, Fantastic Mr. Fox. I was kinda hoping nothing much would happen in this thread so I have time to put my 3P1C thriller story together. ;)

(Not really)

Speaking of which...

========================

A few days ago...

All television channels in Kashmir are broadcasting the same scenes; thousands of soldiers surrounding a darkened hospital in the forested hills of Shimla under a stormy night sky. Helicopters circle overhead, shining blinding spotlights on the ground below.

"... military police are quarantining the area surrounding the Indira Gandhi Medical College. A ten kilometres radius Red Zone has been set up around the historic hospital, where it is believed strange medical experimentation took place which produced dangerous mutations..."

"...and behind me you can see soldiers of the Kashmiri Republican Guard doning protective suits and preparing to enter the medical complex..."

"...with me now is Sheikh Hussein, an elderly patient at the hospital who managed to escape the carnage."

"It was close, I was almost bitten by those monsters. The Taliban men tried to shoot them, but it was in vain. They were all killed in the end."

"...authorities believed the hospital's assistant director was behind the clandestine experiments. He is believed to still be trapped inside the hospital."

"...some experts speculate that recent rumours of Abhorrant sightings in Himachal Pradesh may be related to this incident..."

"...and... and... God help us... our viewers... we have breaking news. Just moments ago, we received a report of a nuclear attack on the Marian Federation..."

"The commandos are going in now... they're going into the hospital... there they are... what dangers might be inside?..."

"Sorry, Adiya, but we have to cut you off there. There has just been a report of a nuclear strike in the Marian Federation... this is still an unconfirmed report..."

"The Marians have confirmed that a nuclear device just exploded in Bouenza. Who could do something like this..."

"We will bring you updates on both stories as it happens. This is Channel 5 Muzaffarabad, keeping you up to date on this eventful day. May God protect you."

Wonder how much of a cow the Indian people will have upon hearing a stray nuke has hit Petrograd AND the Hetmanate, both of which have the world's largest nuclear stockpiles...
