The difficulty here is that the King of Italy still possesses a significant amount of power. I'm not too sure he wants the leader of his country going round and invading countries because they are monarchies.

I would try to go into IC at this point, but well, it's pretty hard to. The baby that is IC has been thrown out of the bathwater then out of the window of an eighth-story apartment with extreme prejudice, and the bathwater has been retained and then slowly sipped.

European Events:

The Phony War as its described by many politicians and historians now, started when the newly founded Republic of Greece declared war on Liberia and used the pretext of ending slavery. A diplomatic battle was the only battle of this war, some supported Greece, some did not, The US sent a naval fleet to blockade and Greek ships in Liberia's waters. The unexpected part of the war was when Spain joined Liberia, and declared war on Greece, many nations soon declared war on Spain for no obvious reason, The war was quickly settled between Spain, Liberia the UK and Greece. The only nation that has not signed peace was Portugal, a new conflict grew out of this...

Another war was brewing in Europe, the December war. Italy suddenly and without warning invaded Yugoslavia in December. Italy attacked in the form of a pincer, one from Albania, one from Italian Slovenia, both heading for Belgrade. When the attack started the badly trained Yugoslav border troops didn't realize Italy was invading, because the population of Croatia led by the Fascist Ustaša's and Bosnia led by the Handschars started a massive revolt, funded by Italy. The Yugoslav government was in Chaos, order to evacuate Belgrade came as soon as the war began and the King fled into Greece. Italy in the meantime met a large Yugoslav force near Belgrade, the battle was short, and in the massacre only a few thousand Italians had been injured or killed compared to the whole Yugoslav army, which laid dead. The honor of entering Belgrade was given to the Croatian and Bosnian rebels, and Bosnia, Croatia, Yugoslav Albania and Slovenia were annexed, Bosnia and Croatia will be released as sovereign nations as soon as they form a government. Serbia is occupied and the King of Yugoslavia has called for the international community to liberate his home land. But what kind of liberation would that be? Only the Serb population is dissatisfied with the invasion of the Italians.

In the UK, a new party is going strong, because of the "Red Menace" its popularity keeps increasing. The new party is very clear on some issues of British society, the issues of Ireland, the Empire and national pride. For the war veterans this party looks like the future, bringing back the Empires glory. The political landscape in Europe is shifting from radical left parties into radical right parties. We are yet to see what the people decide

Meanwhile in the USSR, the man of the previous year Vladimir Iljič Lenin has passed away, leaving a legacy behind him. Stalin officially took power, but people are becoming fed up with him. Lenin managed to see the unholy alliance between Stalin, Portugal and Greece, one of his last words was "Stalin, why are you doing this to me". The Trotysky's are feeling an immense increase in power. The party feels betrayed by Stalin, they think he is misleading the revolution, hes not helping our Communist brothers in Venezuela, Mongolia, Brazil and many other nations. If Stalin cracks down on the Trotyskys he may risk a revolt that would overthrow him, because many Trotyskys hold high positions of power, but should he let them continue?

The Slave war, the prodigy of the Phony war, the nations of Portugal and Spain are still at war, Spain takes the initiative and completely overruns Portugal. Their is little to say about this war in terms of strategy, it is enough to post the brilliant map of Spains generals

The Portuguese Government has fled to the UK and asks for asylum and support in regaining their country.

Another European event was the demand of Lithuania over the Memel region, Lithuania thought that Germany was too weakened and counted on the support of France and the UK, but none was given. Germany decided no to press Lithuania and offered it a white peace which it accepted.

Asia Events:

Asia was pretty calm during 1923, the only major event that took place was the unification of Saudi Arabia

America Events:

In the US, great upheavals have struck, not just one coup but two! Free American supporters rearmed and marched again on Washington, but the Police and National Guard responded quickly, and most of the leaders of the Free America rebel group managed to get arrested. Several people have been killed but the infamous leader of Free America, the Eagle has managed to escape. The US government has 3 options, execute the leaders as traitors, imprison them for a set amount of years, or pardon them. Meanwhile the ANP has had much benefit from these events, offering an alternative, more peaceful party, but also a barrier from the Reds.

The Christmas war in Guatemala has erupted. On Christmas the Mexican Army crossed into Guatemala and took over all of the country within a week. It has been immediately annexed and this proves Mexicos ambitions of becoming the Central American Union. Also the labourists have won in their bid for president.

A Rebel attack on the high seas. The British fleet blockaded Venezuela, but on the 1st of May, two fisherman boats filled with explosives approached the British fleet. One waited a bit further away, but the other one rammed itself into a British Destroyer and exploded, the blast complete destroyed the ship and damaged a nearby Cruiser, 125 Sailors died that day. The other shipped full of explosives somehow managed to be gun downed. Should the British launch an investigation (costs 2EP) in South America, or should they just prepare for another attack?

The Leftist Mexican government has annexed one of its neighbors. I call upon the United States to issue a declaration of war against the Mexican government on the following grounds.

1.) Cross-bordered raids launched from Mexico. Over the last decade.
2.) A war of aggression against Guatamala.
3.) Ties to the communist Venezuelan government.

The US government should carry on this war until Guatemala is liberated and Mexico is forced to pay reparations for damages caused in the Guatemala War as well as paying for the lives lost along the US-Mexican border.

The Leftist Mexican government has insulted the willpower of the United States for too long. If the US government does not take the necessary steps towards the liberation of Guatemala and extraction of overdue payment from Mexico, then the ANP demands an immediate election in which all Senatorial and House seats are up for grabs.

I've noticed that, so from now on the surprise attacks are "banned". I went through these two attacks because it was to late to tell them such, and the enemies were NPC.
