Inappropriate ad?

Atomic Gamer doesn't think it's bad. It's an ad UGO created themselves.

If you feel strongly about the ad, you may want to email UGO about it directly to let them know your dislike.

I just wanted to make sure that it got reported. :) Personally I trained myself long ago not to see the ads in 90% of the times (and most of the times I actually switch them off with adblock - although I don't do that on CFC as I know how the free-sites-with-advertisements work :)), but I still don't understand how they think this is okay. Well, it's their hosting service after all, it's not that I would have a problem because of that (I can always adblock any ad I find particularly annoying). :) So at least my "mission" of bringing this to their attention has been accomplished.

:lol:is your friend 5 years old

No, but from my experience he does know the art of placing a correct question mark at the end of a sentence, should the situation require it. Which I can't say the same about certain posters on this page (it took me 10 seconds to decipher that post of yours).

In any case, I was completely unaware that it is only 5 year olds that can be disgusted by the idea of a death scene and a picture of an actress covered in blood being labeled as "sexy". In any case, it would not be so distracting if the text on the left wouldn't be constantly bouncing around and moving continuously like a poor-quality television ad.

As I've said before, adblocking any annoying ads is so very easy, so I'm only bringing this ad to the attention of the people who can report it. As that has been done, there's no need to comment on why it was reported in such a thread.

indeed, but if the same actress would be showing a tit instead of being covered in blood it would suddenly be highly improper :crazyeye:

You've just described one the differences between Europe and the US.
Differences - wonderful stuff. :)

That's disgusting! WTH is up with these stupid ads?
Seconded. While I am able to ignore this, the idea that violent death scenes can somehow be called "sexy" or "pleasuring" is beyond sick.

Also, I get that our beloved CFC has to keep its servers running somehow, but maybe the "family-friendly" policy should then be abandoned altogether for the sake of consistency?

make both acceptable on both continents: even more wonderful stuff.

i wouldnt call people sick just because they can find blood and torture sexually stimulating.
we really schouldnt be that fast with labelling someone metally sick. (as in: "needs treatment and isolation
from the rest of the society.)

while i cant imagine a random death or torture scene to be sexy i dont really feel the urge to make everybody else adhere to this way of perception.

I'm sorry that you require a question mark to be able to decipher English. You'll never know the joys of being a native speaker. And the reason I said that was because of the phrasing of "what site is so cruel"...It sounds like a naive child asking a question.

true enough, which is probably where my confusion comes from. But since both the site owner and ISP are american, I will have to live with the american definition of 'family friendly' :)

(it's not that I notice usually, since my ad-blocker blocks it anyway, I just like to be outraged ;) )

I'd just like to say that the ads have really improved :goodjob: I've even clicked a few of them! (a lot of them are for RPGs or TBS games, which is nice.)

I've got a question on ads though, can I turn the sound off of them? I hate hearing that I've won a Nintendo Wii every time I open a new page...
I actually reported that you've won a Nintendo Wii audio ad 2 days ago. Will check with Atomic Gamer on the status...

We are not suppose to get any audio ads that auto-plays.

Ok, thanks Thunderfall. :) I hope this is fixed soon, since I just started getting this one today after a long time w/out an audio one, and now it plays EVERY time, usually in both ad slots.
(With all of the ads available, why would the same one play a million times over?)

I keep getting ads offering me downloads of Civ I and II for <insert pound symbol here>4.99.

They're Google ads; I assume they're legal.

The UGO/libertas.eu ad (in Dutch) is moronic; it reads "Brussels says yes/Libertas say no" (In Dutch: Brussel zegt ja/Libertas zeggen nee. Obviously computer-translated - with a faulty computer...)

And another (bottom page) ad: "You are the 99.999th visitor...!" (could be even 999.999th visitor...)
