Even with the xenophobia the U.S government has now. This still would not happen. Our human rights peoples would not allow it. And i doubt any law imposing microchip implantations would be able to get passed.

But its still an interesting article none the less.

this is a crazy idea! the day it happens I move back to Canada (and I am not even a foriegn worker!)

 I'm no fan of illegal immigration, and would probably support quite a few efforts to curb it and ensure people only make it across the border legally, but not this! The fundamentalist Protestant in me screams "mark of the beast" type stuff...forget it!

Great, there is another thread about teaching geography in the US, where some posters said that also scientific knowledge of US college students is also deteriorating.

Pass a law about inserting microchips into immigrants and the golden era of US science will came into an end.

That is just plain Nazi.

We already have a large enough deficit.

Sure, except in order to have an effective program, everyone with permission to be in the US legally (that includes citizens) would have to be chipped, so that anyone without a chip could be immediately deported.

And I and a lot of other people are going to be getting very restless when they start chipping involuntarily...

Restless may not be the correct word. Lemme grab a dictionary.

1. Hostile
2. Violent
3. Enraged
4. Scared
5. Fearful
6. Aggressive

I'll prolly be all six of those while standing in my soiled underpants the day they announce chips in everyone. Once I regroup myself I'll drive to Canada.

Microchip implants are something you only have to worry about if you are a criminal or doing something else wrong.

Why don't they just line them all up in a neat row, get them to drop their pants in unison and ram a tactical nuke up each sphincter in turn? Push the button whenever they start acting too Mexican or something.

IOW - this is a stupid idea on plenty of levels.

Then you would be an illegal immigrant in Canada. ;)

Or if the government is criminal...

Hey this hasnt happened yet and probably wont. This was just a really idiotic suggestion from a senator. ;)

If the government is criminal, there are already thousands of ways they can do great harm un to you. Microchips would really be superfluous.

There are many benefits to universal microchip implantation that CFC seems all too ready to ignore. It's quite interesting to watch the highly reflexive reaction here.

Two questions for you:
1. Have you read the Apocalypsis?
2. Have you read 1984?

"Once said - cannot be unsaid"

Sadly I see America moving into this direction.... very fast.

I dont. This whole xenophobia thing is just a trend of the bush administration. There are just as many people if not more in this country who are opposed to bushes immigration policy.

Hopefully the Canadian Government wouldn't put a chip in the back of my neck.

insterting microchips would be the first step to install a fascist government like Orwell describes in 1984. (You can argue that it wasn't fascist, but communist, I don't care, they are pretty similar when personal freedom is involved).

Personally, I like to go around without having to worry about if there is a government agent is following my bleps and wondering if I am a terrorist. And government agents do commit mistakes, you know. So, even if I am not doing anything wrong, I would be under suspicion.
