Cant you at least unite the tow Greeces?

Greece must remain divided for the benefit of the Turkish empire. If they are skewering each other they won't be able to form a cohesive force against Turkish rule.

Further revisions. Bohemia, Netherlands, the Baltic Duchy, and Switzerland are still part of Germany but now are colonies with plans of full annexation down the line.

I'd be willing to try and make that map more plausible if only because I don't want to have to puke every time I look at it, if SonicTH is willing to listen.

wow, there are people who are more anal about pretty borders than i am... the map looks fine to me.

We've been trying to fix it but he won't

I'm probably not going to change the map around in Europe anymore, though I did return the Romand and Romansch areas to Switzerland; Germany may as well go the whole nine yards if it's planning to assimilate the area. Never mind it can always deport non-Germanic peoples if necessary.

Also put Wallonia under Dutch control and split Hungary and Yugoslavia.

I'm just suggesting that maybe the idea of listening to the people that are going to be playing your game should be given some merit. Being that it takes a GM and players to make a game fun, or run at all, it makes sense. We shouldn't be arguing over how bad the map is, we should be coming up with compromises. I think a strong Germany, or any country for that matter, can happen without having a giant grey blotch on Europe. I doubt it would actually matter to Germany itself much how much land it owns if they still politically, culturally, and economically dominate the regions it is interested in. As would be the case in my suggested map. And again, they would have the cultural union thing still going for them.

If almost every prospective player is already complaining, then you aren't going to have a lot of actual players.

You'd need to make one of them Macedon for that to actually work.

i have this brilliant claims idea for a simple IOT:

essentially, you can either start your own nation, like the Mathalamus Empire, with the standard 10 claims to start with, or...

you can start as a country, like Russia or the USA, or even pick and choose to a reasonable limit, but cannot ever expand. you can, of course, make temporary conquests, but in the end you must create a vassal, or it will revolt out of you and become independent.

I'm pretty sure the reasonable limit will have to be strictly defined, and there may be issues with balance and the like.

Join my game! It's inspired from Sonereal's latest RISK with the emphasis on supply rather than victory points.

So it's a Sons of Mars game.

I remember Civics tech, that was an interesting feature.

I was making fun of how Tany basically makes your country implode if you even think about invading someone. Unless the planets align, of course. Then you win the game.

I can't speak with certainty, but there is a strong likelihood that I'll finally be able to resume IOT:A this summer. A number of you genuinely want it, I have a beautiful climactic story that needs you to play it, and given that I've been owing you this for two years now I figure it's about time we made something of it.

Originally this was going to pick up right from where we left off, but at taillesskangaru's suggestion I may bump the date forward a bit to smooth the transition, especially if I get an influx of fresh blood. The mechanics will receive some tweaks (overhaul of the reputation system and -finally- patching RNG combat's rounding error) but the game will generally remain the same. I might adopt Robert's stats-at-a-glance since now I can sort updates into nifty tables, but the report would be even more generic and remain fairly static unless there's some monumental breakthrough/upheaval.

Before I look into any of this, though, I need to know who's still on board. Below is the list of player countries and adopted NPCs; names in parentheses either didn't return after IV, dropped out during the session, or had been inactive for a month or two prior to suspension. If you see your name, tell me if you're still in; if you see a friend, bug him to call.
