Two first rate ships of the line have been dispatched past the cape to protect Celtic shipping. Any attempts to interdict Celtic merchant vessels will be met with force. As a predominantly island nation we take the safety of our trade routes very seriously.

Italia's Plans For The Future​

The Merchant Republic of Italia has many plans for the future, the first of which is to colonize Central Europe and claim it for our own. This will be accomplished in three years, at most. The next is to take down the threat that is Poland. They are already hostile towards us, and we cannot allow them to grow further. Our defensive alliance with the Greeks will allow us to hold off on this for a couple of years. Third is our colonization of West Africa. This is important to us, and we will not take kindly to any interference. After that, we will move onto the west coast of the Americas. To accomplish this, we must build a large navy, something that will be built soon.

In more peaceful endeavors, we will look towards becoming one of the most economically powerful nations in the world. Right now we have that title, and we will look towards holding onto that accomplishment. We will not look towards war with any nation except Poland, but any move against us or any of our interests will be met with extreme force.

And we encourage the Iron Islands blockade forces from interfering with Celtic Union flagged vessels.
We do not wish to become involved in your dispute with the Australian Empire but we will not tolerate disruption to our trade routes.
Having said that we will not tolerate other nations vessels abusing our protection. If you believe a merchant vessel is falsely flying our colours inform our squadron and we shall investigate and take any action deemed necessary.

A suggestion for setting up displaying trade routes. Modify or discard as the GM sees fit.

1. Get players to provide current lists of all desired trading partners. Players either list every country, or else use the phrase ‘ALL’. No caveats allowed. You are going to spend a lot of time as it is updating the sheet and map without having to parse ‘if A has trade, no trade’ and other such nonsense.

2. Going down the sheet, using the horizontal country listings, list national desires for trade as ‘?’.

I am offering a non-aggression pact to all european player nations as long as they promise to leave Central Europe alone for five turns. I will unfortunately have to go to war with anyone claiming Central Europe for their own. While I dislike the prospect, it is necessary.

Just out of curiosity, if a province is occupied, does it produce IP? Or is it claimed as soon it is occupied?
