IOT Enlightenment 2: Philosophers and Kings

Given our repaired relations with Iberia we have agreed to represent their interests in Europe, to wit the restoration of their territories conquered by Italy, whilst their government is in exile. For that reason, and the failure of the Italians to make a formal declaration of war prior to the invasion, the restoration of Iberian territory is required.
We may be willing to drop the requirement to cede southern France but we would then require reparations and a cap on the size of the Italian military for, say, ten years to prevent a repeat of this gratuitous warmongering.

I am afraid we cannot accept these requests. Central Europe is the lifeblood of our nation, and we cannot lose it. If Romania-Yugoslavia wishes to back out now, we will ot hold any bad feelings against them. We will not recognize a rebellion, just as you did not recognize the Ottomans. We apologize, but this is neccessary.

After a persuasive message from my ally, telling me how pointless war will be, I am accepting the offer of peace proposed by my ally.

Actually Italia is the lifeblood of your nation. The peace terms suggested by your ally do not include Iberian repatriation which we consider essential to peace.

Perhaps a compromise can be reached; Spain is repatriated, while the Netherlands remain an Italian possesstion, or are released as an Italian- or even Romano-Yugoslavian, if you do not trust the Italians- protectorate.

Why does the UK need holdings in Europe? It would just hinder their stellar progress in the Americas if they had to worry about Europe as well, and it would not require them to have a huge navy to protect both continents.

OOC:As near as I can tell, the game doesn't care if you have a navy or not. The GM lets you beam troops cross continents whether or not a navy is between provinces or not.

8/11 orders.

Missing:

-Iberia
-Australia
-Romania-Yugoslavia

If Bonefang hasn't really dropped and wants to send in orders for Hindustan, he also may do so.

Speaking of: Hindustan is now a GMPC nation. These nations follow this pattern:

-2 turns of automation
-Deletion unless claimed by a new player

New players may claim a GMPC'd nation and rearrange it in whatever fashion and style they choose, as long as the national history remains intact. If Hindustan is not claimed by the start of 1758 update calculations, it will be removed from the game. Until then, it will play as an NPC.

No. If you blockade a colony (as Spain would become if reinstated), then troops cannot reach it, and it is unprotected. So, they would need a large navy to properly protect it.

"Why" is not our concern. The United Kingdom of Iberia made a request to the Celtic Union to recover her lost European territory. We agreed to recover those provinces lost to Italia and are now honour-bound to do so, either by diplomacy or the sword.
On the matter of honour we would remind Italia and Romania-Yugoslavia that under the conventions of warfare the due to Italia's failure to accept an honourable peace with Norskandia would allow us to take all her territory, but in the interests of peace and the balance of European power we are offering to waive that right in exchange for the proposal previously mentioned.
Indicate your agreement and we will put in place an armistice to allow for discussions on the scale of reparations and size of the military cap. Don't take too long to think though, there's less than a day till the lock.

OOC: Not according to the readout I got from the GM. I postulated isolating a portion of an empire, and was told that blockades had no effect on troop movements.

Ah, that's too bad.

IC: We propose the peace deal our ally offered a few days ago (last page).

What Bugwar said. Troop movement, due to . . . uh . . . warp technology . . . is immune to blockading.

Transporters and Warp Drive a very different things! If we had warp drive in this timeline we would be in space! LHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Yes and no.

Transporters are actually an offshoot of the mathematical branch underpinning Warp technology.

It was a accident of history that Cochran pushed the physical derivatives of the math towards the propulsion variant.

If the toast had landed on the floor instead of the trash can, things would have gone quite differently, as all school children know now!

Which as we have stated is unacceptable due to the non-return of Iberian territory. You foolishly turned down a generous peace settlement, we advise you not to turn down a lenient one which leaves you with your most productive territories.

If you wish a venue to sign a treatry consider one of the provinces of the Cape Republic. The Falklands would make a lovely place to sign the treatry. We may even give you all free copies of the Republic. What you say?

We thank you for the offer, but there's no need to sail half way round the world to conclude a purely European matter.

We hope that the peace deals include the restoration of rightful Nordic lands. If not, there will be blood.

You are in no position to dictate peace deals, or make threats for that matter, as a puppet state. Please do not comment, or try to overstep your bounds as a client state. You have no say on the peace deal: you gave up those rights the moment you became a protectorate.
