IOT: Land Ho!

It's fine, haha.

Edit: I'm not making an rp thing this turn, mostly because I can't think of anything to write due to relative inactivity for Britain. Other than converting, nothing has happened. Just throwing that out there.

Because I realized how ridiculously low the rebellion rate is gonna become (some nations currently have a rebellion rate as low as -51%) because of the large quantities of armies and navies, I have instead changed it to:

Having a strong army (Formula: ((army+navy)/Provinces/100 * .5) is how many percentage points the rebellion rate is decreased by.

Good thing I have access to the Med and Atlantic regularly, then. Andorra and Portugal may be nationalistic, but that doesn't mean we're fanatical religious warriors if you were thinking of calling a Crusade.

Orders:

12EP - 12 armies
20EP - 20 navies
20EP - 4 infra

New comic to be posted at a later hour.

Orders were posted way earlier today.

All right I don't know if I can post a map by tomorrow night so I'll give unspecified orders. Split my armies into three groups and have them attack the north, middle, and south of burgundy.

The leaders of the Harmonious Crusaders have been drawing up a plan to deal with the combined forces against them. A plan for 2 main pushes into the enemy had been initiated with one group going down the west through Muscovy and into the Horde while the other splits itself in the east with half going strait into Muscovy and the other half heading down through the Horde and back up into Muscovy. Along the long border shared with Muscovy the Llanfarian forces have dug in in anticipation of a counter strike.

So, when's the update?

Then why didn't you do it yesterday?

Also, you can just do it over multiple days. If I was you, I'd post the excel stats ASAP and gloss over the wars, then if out of time, add the writeup the day after. Player RP is what makes IOTs go round, not writeups.

Because I was not at home all of yesterday. Hence my earlier complaint that people file orders if they haven't already.

Off to hit the hay.

Okie dokie

If I ever get around to running an IOT I'm going to NPC people who don't send in orders by the deadline. Every consecutive turn it happens they lose half their money to corruption or complacency or Cthulhu or something.

Can we expect an update today?

Dawn of a New Age (Part II)- 1489-1493

The Curious Case of Brave Sir Oyt

A year ago a certain English sailor named Oyt had sailed forth from England on a mission to establish trade with Armenia. Sailing back with the good news that the Armenian king had accepted England's offer, he was lost at sea. Hearing nothing of him, England and his family back at home supposed he was gone forever; such a mission, after all, was naturally perilous.

A year later, however, he washed up on the shores of Africa. The locals, knowing not what to make of him, took him into their tribes. Eventually he made himself north to Andorran North Africa, where he secured, via indentured servitude, a passage on a ship bound for England.

Oyt was unrecognizable when he arrived. His face had been burnt into a light brown, his hair matted and disheveled, a thick beard coating his once cleanly-shaved face. For a month he worked to restore his former appearance, shaving and bathing. During this time he was working as a servant in a shipyard owned by the man who gave him passage. But since he had no intention of paying off his debt, he fled, eventually arriving at his home town. He was initially not recognized by the townspeople, but eventually his wife realized it was her husband, and began shedding tears of joy and disbelief. The story he told became quite the sensation across Europe.

Oyt spoke of a golden land across the sea, of a docile folk who welcomed him with open arms, of bounty and treasure. His story was eventually written down and became well-known by those who were literate in Europe. Many dismissed him as a lunatic, but it got Europe thinking: What lay far across that ocean?

Affairs of the Old World

Even as Europeans turned their eyes ever further westward, conflict and war gripped the European continent. The Protestant Reformation saw a period of much religious turmoil and conflict. On the Iberian peninsula, the states of Andorra-Portugal as well as Aragon adopted Protestantism. The south of Iberia, still controlled by Pope, was gripped by Protestant heretics rebelling against the grip of Rome. Finally, tensions broke as Aragon invaded Papist Iberia. The Pope's forces were concentrated abroad in the war against the Mamelukes, leaving Iberia sparsely defended. Protestant nations now controlled all of Iberia.

To the East, the state of Burgundy initiated war against the Holy Roman Empire. Meanwhile, France took advantage of this distraction to attack Burgundy. Aside from a few gains by Burgundy against the HRE, these two wars remained stalemates.

The HRE was the birthplace of Protestantism, and the resultant religious turmoil tore it apart. As loosely organized as it already was, it became even more divided as Protestant Electorate of Saxony and cantons of Switzerland declared their independence altogether from Catholic rule. The opportunistic Dutch grabbed a few provinces in the north, while in the South the vassal state of the Duchy of Milan declared its independence.

Meanwhile, in Eastern Europe, a war between Austria and Hungary and between Bulgaria and the Greco-Turks left a largely stalemated scenario. Further east, Muscovy made crucial advances into Poland-Lithuania and united with the Golden Horde for the first time in its history to battle against the pagan state of Llanfar.

In the Middle East, conflict erupted between the Catholic Pope and the Muslims that resisted his control of the Holy Land. Syria and Hejaz set aside their differences, and taking advantage of the fact that the majority of Papist troops were battling the Mamelukes further west, invaded and reconquered all the holdings of the Pope in the Levant. Jerusalem was once more a Muslim city. To the west, the Pope made important advances down the Nile and westwards, now controlling all Mameluke holdings east of the Nile, and a significant portion west of it. Meroe nominally joined the Pope in his war but for the moment remained cautious about advancing into Egypt.

In Central Asia, a war between state of Iran and Uzbekistan saw significant Uzbek expansion southwards into Iran.

In Africa, the union of Morocco and Algeria produced a new state, headed by Abd ar-Rahman VI, who promised to bring the nation to its former glory as masters of Spain and North Africa.

To the south, the war of Ghanan Aggression remained a stalemate.

The year is now 1493. Prepare yourselves; a grand collision of civilizations is about to take place.

Pope Miltiades IV hopes that you are aware of the position you have landed yourself in, Aragon. You are now at war with the Teutonic Order (Ally), the Token Kingdom of France (Ally), Meroe (Ally), the Union of Merchant Republics (DP), the Greco-Turkish Union (DP), the Holy Roman Empire (DP), & the Netherlands (Proxy Ally). (Syria & Hejaz are at war with the aforementioned parties, too)
His Holiness will call off this war & make peace, however, if you return all Papal Lands taken to the Holy See & assist His Holiness in the retaking of the Holy Land.
