IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

It's geographical, only it's biased to European geography.

It looks like you are trying to make a map based on geographical features.

Some suggestions:

- It doesn't hurt to look at historical patterns of development. One example: Mexico; more specifically the big province that occupies most of northern Mexico. That should be split into two. Historically, the southern part, ie the Valley of Mexico, around where Tenochtitlan/Ciudad de Mexico is, was far more populous than the northern part, and for good reasons: wetter, better soil, etc.
- Some areas are overrepresented. Europe, notably; I personally would just split France into north and south. Slovakia can be grouped together with the Pannonian Plains. Austria and Bohemia can be one province.
- Some sparsely populated areas can use a few less provinces; notably: near-Arctic areas like Alaska, northern Canada, Scandinavia, Siberia, and desert areas like the Sahara and Central Asia.
- On the other hoof some areas are underrepresented; most of Asia, and pretty much all of the Americas.
- New Guinea could just be one province.
- Korea should really be separated at the Yalu River.
- Baluchistan doesn't really need to be there.
- Rajasthan/Gujarat should really be separated from the Ganges valley

There's a bigass mountain range that splits Italy into east and west.

I think New Guinea should be split. It looks really freakin cool.

Thanks, THAT is helpful. There are cases of "Hell, what to do with this", such as Baluchistan and the aforementioned Brittany. There is also the problem that my base map shows elevation of terrain and labels the main deserts only. And many rivers aren't shown either, and that leads to quite a few mistakes. Thanks for all of the advice, though. :bows: (we need dat smiley)

And thanks for that map, I'll take it into account. Some bits that I'm redoing already look a bit like that.

No, I mean the one at the Org.

Just started an earth-based space colonization game, almost completely, if not entirely, RP-based. Check it out here.

I'm afraid I'm postponing JIoT until January for several reasons.

Basically, many IOTs going on, with I&B4 probably arriving on December, the fact that I want to play I&B4, TerraNES and several others and that will leave me without time if I am able to adjust my schedule so I can actually play all of them, and the fear that a stop due to Christmas vacation may kill the game due to its simple and fast nature.

In the meantime I will work more on the map and maybe even work on some rulesets for a hypothetical and much more complex sequel.

Already? o_O

I have nothing better to do.

TUG and X need to run their course before I launch MP3 anyway. :p

Unite Transylvania with Romania.

Yay, at a time when I'm one of the few people full awake!

Well, for anyone who recalls when I first mentioned the idea:

IOT: The Sun Never Sets will be starting soon-ish.
Meaning later today or tomorrow, most likely. I have to throw ports on the map and then post the thread.
