IOT Organisational and Discussion Thread

I'm quite certain any decent IOTer can play an NES just fine, at least after referancing another order post. Give me an NES that's way more complex than say, my own starting-up IOT. I'll take back everything I've said.

With pleasure. :)

I'll grant you that it is more complex than mine. But I still don't see how just because we're IOTers we have less mental capacities than an NESer.

I've always wanted to join an NES, I like the greater focus on the RP and that it is more important than the game play in a way. However it all seems like an elite and secretive society who wouldn't like it if anyone new came along, so I've never summed up the courage to post in that section; Its intimidating.

And we have mental capacity, we just apply it to other things.

:agree:

But i am not very well at writing RP.

They aren't that bad and they really welcome new guys, I can tell from my own experience. :) It didn't work a that moment cause I was just very limited in time but I'm planning on returning sometime..

That's my main issue with NESes... most of them are time consuming...

I wouldn't quite go that far but I would agree there is a more than notable difference.

It would be nice if the NESers could decide what they wanted to do, half seem keen to try and kill IOT by merging it into NES while the other half just seem like they want us to stay as far away from NES as possible due to our inferiority.

Also might i also point out to ZeletDude I said in every one of my posts that it was my opinion?

Gamez reads my mind.

I'd just like to say you pretty much said the same thing AA said. Just because you play NES doesn't make you smarter or better than any IOTer. Stop being self-righteous and let us have our own opinions.

I dont know about others, but i personally like IOT's more than NES. Mainly because in NES RP is very important and i am not very good at that.

I'd love to join one I'm just not sure which one to join what to post etc. For fear of commuting some sort of unforgivable Faux pas.

Wait, I usually say "Put 15 EP into infra because blah blah blah more money why am I writing this, it's freaking infrastructure, you know what it does." Does that mean I'm some kind of heretic?

Yeah... See... They're intimidating.

As a Mod of a Nes with multiple (former?) IOTers (SouthernKing, General Olaf, Red Spy), I do not have any major issues with IOTers, and I think as a whole you're an alright community.

You guys focus on what we call "Board Game Neses"; focus on the gameplay, not on the roleplay. Don't get me wrong, the Board game style can be fun and exciting, but as a whole, Nesers feel that the role play is the most important part. Going Out of Character is severely frowned upon, and in some instances, is punished in game by a player going OOC.

I don't think Nesers require god levels of intelligence, but I do believe many people on the forums could learn and play.

The big difference is IOT is less formal, more gameplay oriented, more expansion oriented, and less complex, a nes lite if you would.

I don't think you lack of intelligence, its more as if you'd been playing Risk and then was introduced to a game of Hearts of Iron or Victoria; Nesing is just on a whole different level.

If you do wish to join a nes, I'd recommend one the games run by Eqandcivfanatic, who many will claim modded their first game they nesed in. Just be respectful, polite, observe and learn :)

Excellent post there, Nuclear kid. I have always been interested in joining a NES, but I just haven't had the time to spend writing long RPs and such. IOT works better for me because I can plop down a paragraph or two, give my orders, and move on to more important things, like school.

Firstly, thanks for being civilized.

Anyways, I completely agree. NES focuses more on the roleplay aspect. And like I said, that's why I'd rather not really play an NES and have this far dropped out of each one I've played. I simply don't have enough time nor the patience to have fun typing long posts.

For the most part, roleplay in a NES means not acting OOC.

Roleplay is essentially getting into your character; when I nes, I truly do feel that I am the Kaiser, or the President of Italy, or whoever I'm playing as. The IOT's I tried playing I couldn't ever get into character, making me not want to play.

The one other argument, strategy, I will point out Neses have extensive combat modifier components, including terrain, technology, morale, and how the occupation will go when they are holding down an area. I am not aware of an IOT with that level of strategy that some Neses incorporate, but I don't know all of the IOTs.

There are some. I ran Dawn of Man, which had an extensive ruleset, but was completely devoid of RP bonuses. Some players still RP-ed, which was nice, though.

Well, we have a new guy from IOT to try his hand in my Nes, results will be found over the course of the game I suppose :)

Wish him luck
