IOT XV: Clanking of the Swords

The Imperium would like to declare that we are forging a alliance, initially of defensive purposes, for orderly nations around the world, be they a totalitarian state or a democracy that has learned the values of order. Any who want to join Rome, Panama and (as of now they have expressed interest in a three way alliance between us and Rome; they are to join later) the Central Asian Republic. Join the Pact of Orderly Nations if you value a alliance of order, a axis of true justice and realist power.

"Uníos" is the imperative form. "Une" is the third person singular form of the present tense.

The Prussian anthem, adapted from the text of "Alte Kameraden" in a truly terrible fashion by me:
Spoiler :
Alte Kameraden Preussens im Marsch durch Stadt,
Halten Freundschaft felsenfest und treu.
Ob in Not oder in Gefahr,
Ob in Freude, ob in Not,
Bleib' Preussen getreu bis in den Tod.
Gedanken Treu und Seele rein
Laßt uns alle Kameraden sein!

Translation:
Spoiler :
Old Comrades of Prussia march through cities,
Hold friendship fast and true.
Whether in need or in danger
Always keep them together again on it.
It goes on the attack in rapid succession,
Glory and honor to bring us the victory,
Come on, comrades, is freshly charged,
That's our marching band.
Should in battle a Comrade die
Shall Berlin hear a death march,
Should a Comrade us betray,
Then give that Comrade the Truth,
for our Revolution is sacred,
And holds the Ten [States of Prussia] together like rope.
This, comrades, is Revolution's bitter fate,
Therefore take Freedom and share it great
Neither Rhine [referring to Westphalia] or Danube [Referring to Austria] drains our strength,
for each Prussian is our workforce!
Martyrs like First and Jung [important politicians killed by Himmlerists]
Shall stay in our memory.
In Happiness or in need
Stay true to Prussia till death.
Thoughts true and soul clean,
Let us all be Comrades!

Are you claiming you have divine right over the sovereign Serbian states which lie between us? You shame yourself, my fellow Serb.

We are turkish, not Serbian. and yes, we have the divine right to at least try to expand. peacefully first, though. now, on to the terms:

Bulgaria will be Serbian territory.
Greece (and Cyprus) will be Ottoman territory.

is this agreeable?

Internet back, Yay! :D

CSA. It's a thing. Deal with it.
Dealing With it. I don't really have a problem with the projected borders you laid out in your joining post, so there isn't much to say here.
Everyone said:
PANAMA vs. CONFEDERACY, FIGHT!
I'll respond to this situation once I have got the hang of it better.

I don't have much to contribute to your conversation yet, not being an expert on American history. Give me some time. :p

Map updated, you now have 15 provinces each, if someone doesnt like what provinces I've given them please say so. Also new people who join should claim 15.
Hopefully it isn't too late to request the provinces in the attachment?

Why do you say you are Serbian and then say you are not? It makes no sense, like the fable of the farmer stealing the badger from its den because a goat told him to do so.

Greater Serbia is not in the habit of claiming rule over lesser Serbias, least of all in public and before the game has begun.

your refusal to get to the point, and continuing to do this has caused the Ottomans to enforce and ratify the treaty without your consent. also, our relations are harmed slightly.

we shall take Greece. and Cyprus. Bulgaria is yours.

(OOC: why doesn't anyone just simply get to the point?)

Because the game hasn't started yet and someone might join there, which I think would be an excellent idea. Every European country should be a PC nation.

Border Incident in Cuba Leaves 10 Dead, 2 Missing
Tensions Rising Between the Confederacy and Panama

sbi5_sbi5.jpg

The Border Wall

Yesterday marks a new escalation in the tensions between the Confederacy and the Imperium of Panama which have been rising since the the Cuban Dispute[1] in 1914. According to Major Edward Lee, Confederate Border Patrol, Cuban Command, a party of several Confederate tourists were observed returning to one of the gates along the Border Wall early in the morning, but were brutally detained by Panamanian Intelligence forces before being able to cross the border. Seeing this, the gate commander radioed the situation into General Patton, Cuban Command, who immediately asked the President to authorize a rescue attempt. President Featherston's office has refused to comment at this time, but sources close to the President have told the Dispatch that the President eagerly gave authorization for the use of "all necessary force" in the retrieval of "our illegally detained citizens."

Following this, General Patton reportedly dispatched somewhere around 100 soldiers and a tank to the gate in question, where they demanded entry to South Cuba. After the refusal of the Panamanian border guards to allow this, the commander of the group told the Panamanians to stand clear and then ordered his group forward. This appears to have been enough time for the Panamanians to inform their superiors of the situation, which led to the dispatch of somewhere between 90 and 120 Panamanian soldiers and one armored personnel carrier to intercept the Confederate incursion.

These two forces met around the detention facility in which the tourists were being held, exchanging fire after the Confederate commander refused to leave without his countrymen. After a skirmish of about 15 minutes in length, the Confederate tourists were rescued from the facility and the commander of the incursion began a tactical retreat back to the gate.

President Featherston has condemned Panama for it's "continued practice of illegally detaining citizens of the Confederacy and other nations of the world," calling for world leaders to "recognize the intensity of the Panamanian disregard for not only basic human rights, but also international friendship and relations." For his part, the Panamanian Governor Militant of South Cuba decried the "lack of realism" in the Confederacy's "aggression towards the Imperium of Panama." He also claims that the tourists were simply being investigated as possible spies and informants. Governor Gomez of North Cuba has issued a statement which reminds the Panamanians of their past and present border incursions, which he states occur "for no apparent reason." Governor Gomez said, "at least the Confederacy seeks to protect the human rights of her citizens! Panama seeks nothing more than to conquer and oppress what is left of freedom in Cuba."

Many members of the Freedom Party are calling for an increased border presence in Cuba, as well as deploying several Air Force units to North Cuba in order to allow for more extensive overflight of South Cuba and extra force projection should an incident like this occur again. Several prominent Democrats, however, are calling for calm. Senator Frederick Jackson has called for a summit between Panama and the Confederacy to "provide for peace in our time." Recent polls conducted by the Confederate News Service, however, indicate that as much as 70% of Confederate citizens consider Panama to be a dangerous rouge state, while only about 20% consider it a peaceful neighbor. Many Freedom Party members calling for decisive action in response to this incident have had their popularity sharply rise in recent polls as well.

President Featherston has announced that he will address the nation tonight at 8 PM EST in relation to the situation in Cuba and diplomatic relations with Panama.

[1] Common name for the incident where Panama invaded Cuba, taking the South while the Confederate-backed government was propped up with Confederate support. North Cuba eventually gained Confederate statehood, ratcheting tensions up further.
