Government: The Republic of India is officially a democratic, free nation, holding elections every 10 years. The elections are, however, a sham: President Anish Malik has ruled over the nation for nearly 30 years, using his secret police - the so-called People's Defense Bureau - and numerous political allies to rig elections. He remains, however, popular - the Republic is stable and thriving under his rule, even if many political dissidents reside in Delhi jails.
Economy: The nation is still developing somewhat, with large tracts of territory in need of improvement still. Most of the public sector is hundreds of thousands of young workers building roads, houses, and power lines all across the nation for the millions of average citizens. The nation is, thanks to the large improvements in infrastructure, also undergoing an industrial boom, which has improved the quality of life for the average Indian threefold since a few decades ago.
This construction and industrial boom, however, has not reached everyone in India, and many millions still remain far below the poverty line, carving out a humble existence for themselves.
