Even though I've logged over 1K hours in Civ6, I'll wait this time.

If the Devs can't figure out Naval and Air warfare again, it will be a "buy on sale" for me.

If there is no Vassal gameplay, it will be a pass altogether. I stopped playing domination victories due to city build queue fatigue. Give me vassals or city automation please!

100% No

Edit:
Civ 4 was mostly terrible, except greater AI & modability
Civ 5 was mostly OK, though it had terrible AI & less than desirable modability
Civ 6 was mostly terrible, though it did improve on Civ5's modability...so that was something...
Why would I pay more than $10 for Civ 7 at this point?
  • To be the beta-tester? Hell no.
  • To say I was early? Hell no.
  • To support anything to do with Civilization at this point (Firaxis, Sid Monkey, etc.)? Hell no.

If they remove 1 UPT and bring back stacks, I'll probably buy it day 1. If they don't.... I probably won't buy it day 1, or ever... just like with 6. My dream is still to see an evolved Civ IV with updated graphics... not something on this new path V started on and VI continued. I know its highly unlikely though :(

Civ peaked with IV for me. Steam says I have about 400 hours in Civ V, and less than 20 in VI (and unless someone shows me a fantastic mod/collection for VI, I don't expect that number to go up ever.)

I purchased a disc copy of vanilla Civ IV, as well as Complete on disc, Steam and GoG. Between those platforms I have at least 2k hours, and realistically it's probably 2-4x that, since I didn't track the time I spent playing the disc copies for years before I bought it on Steam or GoG. In 10+ years, when I can buy the "complete" edition for ~$30 I might grab VII, but unless VII is a drastic departure from the direction they've been taking the series since V came out, I'll probably stick to modded Civ IV until I die.

Not sure for me. While I love Civ 6, there's always that fear they will try something like Civ 5 again. Which I did not like 5 on release (expansions made it somewhat acceptable). Gameplay footage on youtube will convince me as it did with civ 6.

I doubt we’ll see gameplay before August. But by then I bet the devs partner with youtubers.

Pre-order, no doubt: It's a no-brainer for me. Civilization games have filled so many hours of my life with enjoyable gameplay over many years. I assume that the chances for Civ7 continuing this are very high.

No. Considering how horrid 6 (I can count on one hand the things I liked about it) was I don't have high hopes for 7. I'll wait and see how that thing shapes out. But if they want it on all those platforms my suspicion is that it's going to be light and that the UI will be horrid. Which will make it a pass.

Get rid of the stupid 1UPT and the horrible optimization and I will consider buying at half the price.
What a compelling argument for the devs 😅

Anyhow for me I'll get it when I have the money. Doesn't always mean day 1 unfortunately, that's just the nature of having two young kids. They go through shoe sizes faster than I'm able to buy any game!

(and you don't want to know how much the shops still charge for kid's shoes, as tiny as they are)

Will see - based on what will be shown in later trailers/dev videos/possible early streams.

EDIT:
I don't have enough trust to spend money based on marketing alone...

The only way I'm not buying it immediately is if it comes out with like a 100$ list price and it looks like there's literally no new features.... but even then, I know I'll get it eventually, so it's probably not worth delaying like 8 or 10 more months just to wait for that first 10% off sale or whatever.

I have some issues with civ 6 that limit my expectations for this game, frankly. But I can't ignore the fact that I have got over 4,000 hours each from Civ 5 and 6, and I may hit 5,000 sometime! So yeah, issues aside I'm getting them day 1 and probably taking a day off work to binge, unless something comes out in previews that I REALLY hate (or if they introduce some kind of modern gaming payment stuff like microtransactions, subscriptions etc).

It's a preorder for me.

I know there will be bugs and issues at launch. I know there are likely to be balance problems. I know that some features are likely to be a bit underdeveloped or indeed entirely missing. I know that the game will improve significantly over the course of its life.

I know all this but I'll love it anyway and enjoy the ride from start to finish. No way am I missing out on playing it from day 1.

no, I'll be a perfectly reasonable man.

I mean I'll wait to see the gameplay previews before pre-ordering.

wait, no, I'll wait before buying, to see if it's stable at release, unlike civ5.

ho, but wait, no, I'll wait to see if the game is still stable after an expansion or two and can run giant maps, unlike civ6.

hmm...

who am I fooling ?

as if I could stay patiently on the sideline looking at you guys playing/modding it :coffee:

why is there no pre-order button already ? :run:

Depends on if I am working/have something on at that time of year/what the release build is like. I originally got a voucher from Ebay and got a CIV VI key that I had to use on my non-main Steam account so I ended up buying it 3 times.

I will surely pre-order. Have done so for every Civ release since 1991 and never felt burned. Sure, I've enjoyed some more than others, but Firaxis (and Sid!) have earned my support. My biggest concern is the day one release on all platforms. Will it be the "jack" of all platforms but the master of none? Hoping this is a non issue, that the PC will be the core platform and the others best available ports.

I love CivFanatics and will truly enjoy the chatter between now and release. You people are awesome!
