IS

:cringe:

Why? really what is the purpose? Do they really think these historical artifacts and ancient ruins will convert their following to something other than what they are trying to teach? If folks are not buying what youre selling, time to find a new line of work.

Apparently they see it as their duty to bring about paradise on earth and they're destroying Nimrod in conformance with the injunction against all images. Which they see as idolatrous. (Why oh why do they make videos of themselves doing it, though?)

I think it's just cultural vandalism, myself.

Cultural Vandalism, perfectly put.

unfortunately, Bibi isn't going to be slaughtered in the next elections. He is going to struggle with his agenda, though.
(Also, i don't get the IS. Can somebody here please explain why they use knives instead of actual firearms for executions?)

I doubt that. They have proven to be quite tech-savvy after all.

I tend to think that any other motives they have for choosing knives versus guns for executions are entirely subservient to the shock value.

They did burn a man alive in a cage after all and there was absolutely no reason to do that other than it gave them the chance to make a slick youtube video. The production value on that was quite high, which points back to tech-savvyness and away from any anti-tech leanings they may or may not have.

I think you're right that they're tech savvy. I still recall reading somewhere that their ultimate aim isn't much different from Pol Pot's.

Well I can believe they said that, I just don't believe they mean it. It may be some sort of useful theological point for them that they like to make but their actions speak louder than words.

Their ultimate aim is to bring on Judgement Day, though. And they'll use anything they can lay their hands on to bring it about.

Or something.

I was reading a good article about it the other day. And now I can't find it.

Unlike the Saudis, IS has a reputation to uphold.

Didn't the Taliban blow up some ancient Buddhist statue? ISIS can't be outdone in their quest to be the most awful people on the planet.

When I was younger, I used to think that, in this modern day and age, such atrocities as those committed daily by ISIS were mostly behind us. And that, if they did happen, someone would step in to stop the perpetrators. I mean, nobody would just sit back and let genocidal slavers wreak havoc in the 21st century, right? After the "never again" mentality engendered by the Holocaust and other events?

Ha. Ha ha. Ha.

:(

You haven't watched a video in which firearms were used, yet.

At least they don't try to convince you otherwise.

So what? Hypocrisy is nothing compared to mass murder. An unapologetic, honest serial rapist is still far worse than a lying pickpocket who claims he never steals.
