ISDG 2012 - Server Announcements, Connection Issues and Questions

Just a headsup for everyone: There may be some problems connecting to all the pitbosses I am currently hosting as I have asked my ISP to force me to a different ip address. No-ip.org should update quickly (my router should do the magic, as it has builtin support for no-ip.org, and I have set it up to update the information on my no-ip.org address), but I will post here when I am aware that the ip has been changed, and update the original post accordingly just in case the no-ip address does not work for a while.
 
While I think that we have seen an improvement (ie the German team actually clicking the end-of-turn button) regarding the game speed, the last turn still ran for over 70 hours with the German team letting their timer run down from 33hrs to 1hr (with no log-ins) before logging in to end their turn.

Team RB still proposes a reduction in the turn timer. If 44hs --> 24hrs is too big a step, can we get it reduced to 35hrs?

Personally (ie following is my view and not team RBs) ... I think that the German team has an approach that simply put, uses the time they have (without regard for the other teams). If the turn timer ran for 100hrs, they would take 100hrs.
 
Game is down until I can isolate a problem with my router. Working as fast as I can here.
 
I think I have solved the problems, but the server crashed as well (and I have no idea why - I assume it was because the internet connection failed and it attempted to do something while the connection was gone - although it does not make sense that a Server 2008 should do that, even with WSUS services installed).

As a result I had to reload all the 3 Pitbosses from the last autosave. In order of loading that means the games that was loaded were the following:

ISDG (Port 2056) was reloaded from Recovery_Inao, saved 13.12.12 at 21:09 hours.
ISDG Warmup Game (Port 2057) was reloaded from Recovery_Huayna Capac saved 13.12.12 at 21:30 hours.
Intrateam PB (Port 2059) was reloaded from Recovery_Maga_r saved 13.12.12 at 19:01 hours.

I am sorry for the inconveniences this may have caused, and I also cannot guarantee that the problems are entirely solved - but things seem to be working as they should.

My external IP has also changed, but as far as I can tell the no-ip.org function of my router is working properly, as caledorn.no-ip.org properly resolves to 178.17.156.44 (which incidentally is the new ip, obviously).

Agreed. As we have stated earlier, WPC can easily live with 24 hours. In fact, we have played much faster than that simply to try and keep the pace of the game up. There is a limited number of units involved, and a small number of decisions to make. I agree that some of the decisions are important; but we collect our team input and get on with it. I have polled our team and folks are happy with our quick rate of play. Everyone still has a chance to weigh in and express an opinion.

I cannot connect to Civstats at all. On my end it looks like the entire site is down. Can anyone confirm that Civstats is working at all, or if this is a problem on my end?

Because Civstats is not working for this game: There is approx. still 3,5 h on the timer, and we from Civforum.de are about to finish our turn now.

Yes. Civstats is working fine for me as well\, but the ISDG is still disconnected.

The Germans have probably finished, as Jerry Demmings is no longer logged in. CFC still had to play.

I have absolutely no clue what is going on with my connection to Civstats. I simply cannot reach the site at all, as if there is a routing error or my ip is blocked. It works fine from my cell phone on 3g. I will attempt to reinstall router software tomorrow, as that may be the cause.
 
Hi Caledorn, thank you for your efforts to repair things quickly. Making civstats work will be very helpful for me, I am currently in location where unusual ports are not allowed, so I cannot log in into a game and without civstats I have no idea how much time is left

It means that e.g. Intrateam was recovered from 19th hour of a turn (i.e. after 19th hours played already), right?
 
CivFr is against a timer of 24H. Most turns we are able to play in 24 hours but often we can't.

@Maga_r: I think those times are local time for Caledorn (GMT+1).

@Caledorn: just tried to log into the game, but Civ hangs while finishing loading the game (I don't get the map) - it was there for five or more minutes. I can get up the game menu via esc, but Exit to Main Menu didn't work, and neither did Exit to Desktop, so I had to force quit Civ.

Ie, you will probably need to restart the game soon. Sorry about that.
