yeah Phoenicia is anything but rouge. And I'm rouge only because the Solists hate me...

to Dacia:
As a kingdom based on trade, which economy's is based on trade as well we take embargoes as war declaration. So, will you return to trade or do we suppose to assume war is between our kingdoms?

Your Continuous threats and general hostility towards our allies in DacoIllyria leaves us no other choice than declaring war on you.

to Luca:
Good than. Finally we know what your alliance truly thinks. Good to know before you also back stab us like you did to Carthage. War it is.

to Kwa kingdom:
Per our defensive alliance we ask you officially declare war upon Luca Kingdom. While we do not expect any military aid we would welcome the diplomatic help. Thankyou :)

They have not attacked you yet. If and when they do, we shall honour the alliance.

Verse 1 of the Book of Sol said:
First, there was nothing. Then there was the sun and from this sun came the earth and the planets. From these planets came all of which we see, all of which we feel, and all of which we cherish. Worship the sun, for it is your creator, your master. It is your joy, it is your sorrow. It is your love and it is your hate. It is your friend, it is your family. It is your life, and it is your death.

Worship the Unconquerable, the universal, and the all-knowing Sun.

Praise Invictus. Praise Humanus. Praise Indiges.

Dumnorix Caethaldius, Lord-Avatar of the Church of Sol, gazed absentmindedly out upon the city. Aurelaeni, mother of cities, bosom of emperors. The wealth and glory from countless centuries of wars, even from the birth of Gaelic Armorica itself, had built it. Judicaelous himself might have treaded these stones. From the oldest part of the citadel, crowning the peak of the tallest hill, the city in all her splendor and squalor could be seen. The incense from the temples slowly rose to meet him, wafting over the stone balcony. Faint strains of the rhythmic chanting of Indigian monks echoed from the monasteries. More common hymns too, could be heard, mixed with the Low Gaelic of the marketplaces, the chaos of the taverns, stables, cobblers, tanners, grocers, and countless other businesses that formed the backbone of the capital's commerce.

It was not enough.

The Dumnorix, if anyone, was further away from seeing the truth of Gaul than any other in the nation. What did he know, truly? His life had been spent in a castle, or at the head of an army, occassionally making an official progress through the nation to accept the adoring worship of his subjects. But did he truly know them?

There were now Tarunists, he knew, and Solist heretics that refused to acknowledge the supremacy of the Church. Even Nevasanghists, worshipping their strange eastern deity, and atheists, who only believed in the strength and wisdom of humanity. Caethaldius smirked. If anything was less worthy of worship, it was humankind. Their treachery and corruption was visible throughout the ages.

Was this the country his fathers had wished him to build?

He peered out into the city, a growing metropolis that had already expanded past the old walls. The central district around the palace was well kept enough. The stone mansions of the nobility crowded around the palace like goslings clinging to their mother. A wall separated this district from the main marketplaces, the headquarters of the merchant guilds and several of the larger temples. Passing further out, the homes and workshops of the common people could be seen.

Faintly visible, beyond the city walls, were the slums of the wretched poor, the brothels, and all else that formed the font of squalor and destitution. Even here, from the palace of the capital and the headquarters of the Church of Sol itself, it could be seen.

On the surface, it was a system that worked. But the monarchy was becoming lazy and ineffective, the merchants were being strangled by loans and the Nortugese blockade, and the slums grew as the poor flocked to Aurelaeni, hoping for some chance at a better life that would not be found.

He clenched his fist in anger. The system was falling into decay. Even the warlike spirit of the Gaelic people was being replaced with complacency, as the nobility of the sword gave way to a generation of idle courtiers that fawned around the monarch. Caethaldius was a notoriously cautious man, quick to defend the established order and slow to lay his plans, however effective. But the system was cracking. How long would the Empire survive with a vicious, entropic cycle wearing away at it?

Changes had to be made.

The Dumnorix turned, and headed back towards the castle. Motioning to a servant, he called out an order.

"Summon the Lord-Pontiff to my chambers."

das, I seem to recall something about new nation backgrounds :mischief:...

Thirded. ;)

didn't the church of sol disband the position of the Lord-Avatar?

Thats what I remember reading when I did research on the franks and solism, although I couldn't be sure if it was reintroduced during the BT.

Good story thlayli, which I should have mentioned before I picked at the details.

Although we are not opposed to such an idea, we believe it would be fair to include Tieh China and Sri Dukunnugeya as well, if only due to the importance of the former in the affairs of Asia proper and the latter in Viendong. Their exclusion would unnecessarily limit the proper functioning of such an organization, in our eyes.

We give formal notice to both Hong Kong and Nihon that at present we are interested in ceasing our administration of holdings in former Olmec lands. To that end, we are willing to turn over control of them to the highest bidder and place the starting price at 1EP.

Tieh China and Sri Dukunnugeya are welcome to be part of the alliance. We hope we did not offend anyone by not including them in the initial offer.
