The Dawn
General Hrathlak stood above his men on horseback. Before him stood a massive army of Tarunians. They had come for blood and been driven back.
Cowards, every last one of them. They had come to rape, pillage, and burn. They had come for his blood, but they would now drown in their own. The Emperor was with them in spirit.
Hrathlak turned to his men, "You all stand here this day as warriors of your nation. Long have our lands been ruled by our ancestors and for far longer will we keep them. We have become as harshe in battle as the winters we endure.
The enemy before lies held up in their wall, in fear of what we will bring. We will charge right and fight for our great lord..."
Suddenly a flurry of arrows came, Hrathlak got up his shield as did all other men. Several collapsed dieing. One man in rags, part of the peasant force, got up and began walking away, "I ain't dieing for these bastards so they can own more land."
Suddenly parts of the army began to disperse, Hrathlak could not let his army disband, he rode up to the men and spoke, "Why do you run?"
"Because I don't want to die you bastard."
"Fine, you can run, like cowards, and you will live, for awhile. But then they will just continue right through us and we will be murdered in our beds, homes, in front of our children. And when that happens, several weeks from now, you will have wanted, no, demanded, one chance, just one chance to win your freedom. We fight this day not for noblemen nor anyother man of greatness, they are but one small reason. We fight for our freedom and for our honor.
We fight for Mordvin and all the sons of Mordvin. We fight this day, and many of us will die this day, but we will fight. We will not shutter. Stand with me and earn your freedom!"
Hrathlak dismounted his horse and got into line with his men, he talked with the other generals sending orders. He would fight side by side with his men. He would die, if need be, for his men.
