Continuing from my earlier story:
A Typical Intrigue in the Days of Old- Part 2:
The Snipes were truely pathetic in a fair fight, but luckily that wasn't their plan. They wanted to capture the intrigue map to figure out the location of the priest temple- snipe reconnaissance was also pathetic. But the two snipes, Gel and Mel, knew what to do- there was a standard plan for all fights like this.
They ran from the guards, out the door, and into the city. As the guards reached the doors, they fell into an ambush, and were killed. These intrigues were getting more and more blatant- this was, after all, part of the intrigue based around competition for power between all the factions. Rushing back in, the Snipes hoped King Jalung hadn't been smart enough to grab the map. They had nothing to worry about- it would be very unusual of him to make such a common sense decision.
They rushed into the map room, and Gel, the team leader, looked at the map. "I see.... I'm dead of a heart attack, and you, Mel, have fled to Prussia."
"I see- very accurate."
Mel could be witty sometimes, though Gel wasn't sure if that was appropriate. Besides, they had work to do- Gel and his mates, like most Snipes, weren't that loyal to the Snipes as a faction. They planned to steal some Swissian hairs for themselves to create a minor noble faction.
"Hmm- soon Risha will be arriving to report on the supression of the Scanian heresy. Unfortunatly, he left his Swissian hair in his countryside fortress, as these nobles always do."
"Then let's go- if we hire some Prussian merchants we can go by sea and take advantage of the latest party to snipe somebody off."
"But that's against orders- we'll trigger a Snipe-Priest war!"
"Exactly."
Mel thought through his plan in his head. Despite their reputation as great assasins, the lack of any Snipe internal unity meant that they barely stayed a major faction. Mel was planning to eliminate Gel and take his position, most of the squad wanted Mel's head to take his, and so on up the whole Snipe ladder to their leading council, who were in a constant struggle for power.
But the Snipes were effective despite all this- and a force to be reckoned with.
