T0 - Settler is moving towards the site 1W of silk.
Put research on Writing, I don't see any use for wheel at the moment since the worker will move to the new city, so we can't connect the gold until we get a new worker anyway. Besides, with settler and worker coming up, we're not going to exceed size 5 so soon that we'll really need it. Writing is only 9 turns, we could still do TW right after that and lose nothing. Sorry, I don't like going against everybody else like this, but I really don't see what we could do with TW within the next 10 turns.
T1 - A Joao settling party appears ON THE SILK. Our settler is 2W of silk now (by the end of this turn).
T2 - Joao's settling party (the injured archer) killed the barb archer down south. Somebody founded Judaism and Charlie got his 4th city (Nuremberg) somewhere.
I'm pondering whether to settle 2W of silk now or to move to 1W and risk losing it if Joao founds a city where he is now. I don't think Joao would settle where he's right now, but he could move 1W and settle there on the same turn. Decide I don't want to risk it and settle Sparta. Start building a warrior there.
Athens goes warrior->settler, the warrior heads west scouting for seafood.
T4 - Joao's settling party headed east, didn't settle yet. Worker starts prechopping a forest in Sparta; he has to wait for borders to pop. I could have kept him pre-farming at Athens for a few turns I guess, anyway, we'll want to chop those forests at some point.
T5 - Joao founded Evora east of Sparta. He also has a work boat at the north coast now.
T6 - Irrigate the plains south of Sparta for 1t, we had a worker turn left before the border pop. Probably won't need it, I put up a sign anyway.
T7 - GW is built somewhere. Probably not by our neighbors, I didn't see any jump in score. Sparta's borders expand and the worker starts pasturing the cows.
T8 - Joao founds Lagos, his 5th. He becomes Buddhist just like Charlie. Charlie got Alphabet and he does not have Fising and BW yet! I stop here so we can decide whether we want to trade techs with him. We could e.g. get Wheel+Archery for Fishing+BW. If we don't do it now I'm afraid he'll trade with Joao, but we have to decide if it's worth it for WFYABTA.
Writing will come in 1, the Athens settler in 3. After the settler we could either go with a worker or switch to slavery and whip a library.
We have a warrior east of Sparta, I was thinking of using him to scout Joao's lands. Note that Joao does not have writing yet, so we don't have OB with him.
My inclination would be to shut off research after writing, trade with Charlie, build a worker in Athens (5t), then whip a library there. We likely won't trade much in the near future, so there's plenty of time for the WFYABTA effect to wear off.
