Karl Marx: Demonologist

Did they say they were news?

Of course, I have to ask TF, what were you doing on that site?

Looking for articles, of course! (Yes, I'm slightly crazy to be looking on *that* site for articles on *that* subject.)

EDIT: I'm rather stupid and I misread this and thought you were asking me. My mistakre.

Saying some was Hegelian and saying they lifted there whole view from the man and then more or less accusing him of fraud is slightly different.

Depends on whether you think turning Idealism on its head is original enough. Some might say that that's still lifting from Hegel. But, of course, throughout Marx's career, there are other major influences on his writings besides Hegel and Hegelian thinkers.

But in a deeper sense he was not really a scholar and not a scientist at all. He was not interested in finding the truth but in proclaiming it.

My God, the Tea Party are secret Marxists!

Is this a parody or a joke? Because the entire article is so ridiculous you can't believe it (unless you are on thirty times the lethal dose of acid).

, keep smiling every time I see that.

Heh. That is already lined up for a movie.

One of the most ridiculous articles I've read in a while. Not surprising though. I still don't see the value in demonizing Marx. Communists certainly don't demonize Adam Smith.

Just so everyone knows, there was a trailer released for the book (not the movie, as of yet):

Link to video.

But back on topic, article is pretty ridiculous.

Because it's not a rational criticism of Marx's idea, it's just plain ol' market fundamentalism. Marx, to these people, is not simply someone that they disagree with, he's a heresiarch.

I liked the article, regardless of its validity.

Who wrote this?

Well I wasn't only talking about this article. I meant in general, I often see Marx grouped with Stalin and Lenin and even Hitler rather than with economists and philosophers where he should be. It's sort of frustrating. Even if you believe his overall argument is wrong, he still brings up a lot of good points.

As an aside, the thread title reminded me of a book I saw in the Sci-fi/Fantasy section of Barnes and Noble the other day: Abraham Lincoln - Vampire Hunter.

Rofl.

I bought my girlfriend the book "Queen Victoria, Demon Hunter" a few weeks ago. I was hoping this was another part of that series. :(

...ouch. My brain.

Umm... this is just a stretch. It's one thing to disagree with Marx's policies(as I semi do, of course), but it's a whole other to claim he was possessed.

They really twisted the tenets of Marxism... no wait, they forgot them entirely. They just looked at what pseudo-Marxism has accomplished and said, "Hmm, this must be what he planned! It fails!"

A brief rundown.

-Communism preaches the abolition of hierarchy, both the state and the wealthy! The state's allowed existence during socialism is merely because, being democratic, it can be tamed.

-Where the hell does Marx say, "Go out and murder hundreds of millions?" Closest to that was accusing the middle class of murder(I'd call him an idiot here but I digress), and he seems to have merely argued for the overthrow of the corporate elite, not the democide of them or anyone else.

-While Marx was atheist himself and kept his faith as such, I don't think he said that freedom of religion shouldn't be allowed. If anything, he likely felt merely that church hierarchy shouldn't exist, that or be 100% elected.

-The poor are not sanctified? I doubt most Marxists would just let them rot because they can't find a job. Even in a communist system I doubt everyone would have a job!

-They repeat several of their "points" in different ways to make them seem more numerous. What the bloody hell.

-I think they're just scared of the fact Christianity and Communism actually have a lot in common in terms of values, so feel that demonising Marx would separate the two.

Hey Traitorfish, are you up for playing this as a Dark Heresy game?
I always thought Marx could use pauldrons.

Indeed! It shall follow the struggle of the stern Inquisitor Hayek in his pursuit of the Heresiarch Marx, all the while plagued by the machinations of the devious Lord General Keynes. Ayn Rand makes a cameo appearance as a babbling Chaos spawn.

Unfortunately, her strike against the "looters" failed. The looters stole her precious train industry, strapped rockets to the back of the trains, loaded them wit guns and fings, and crashed them all into a dreadnought at the same time.
