Not Constantine the Great, nor Constantine Palaiologos, but former king Constantine of Greece, the one still alive.

What is your view of him, if you have a view that is. Do you think it would be a good move if he returns as a politician to this country? In Bulgaria a former king had returned and managed to win the election, so there is already a precedent.

Personally i am of mixed opinion on this. I would be willing to vote for him IF he forms a team of able and serious, non-corrupt people who want to help the country.

Then again, of course, since he is a Constantine, who knows, maybe he will even take back Constantinople :scan:

Poll will be up soon...

I'll admit, I'm bias. I enjoy Monarchy and kings in general.

On a more pragmatic basis. If anyone, much less a former king, is able to form a team of able and serious, non-corrupt people who want to help the country, than that is a yes.
When you mention Tsar Simeon II, he only came back as Prime Minister of Bulgaria and not King. And as PM, he was only mildly okay. His party was quickly voted out of power and is now a minor minor party.

Did you make this thread with the discussion about the restoration of King Constantine to the Greek throne or with him, becoming PM through the republican structure?

Only if he cedes Macedonia (Greek region) to Macedonia (the Republic thereof) and Thrace (Greek region) to Bulgaria (the country). This should cut some of the countries' expenditure. Following that, force Crete to become independent and sell the Dodecanese to Malta. Perhaps look into the possibility of releasing Epirus and forcing it to merge with Albania to keep their already troubled economy in check. Greece will thus remain a small "hub" with which to rebuild and re-brand itself.

From reading his Wiki article, he doesn't seem to be a great statesman. Of course, it's Wikipedophilia and all that.

His son seems more competent for statecraft. He has a stint at Sandhurst as a military officer and graduated Georgetown University with a degree in International Relations, Law and Organization and completing a Master of Science in Foreign Service.

I can imagine him as King of Greece.

EDIT: Screw that, the entire family of Prince Pavlos is bred for constitutional monarchy.
And also, proof that blond hair a dominant gene.

What, you think Greece is over its demesne limit? :mischief: Yeah, it would explain the low tax income and high revolt risk :lmao:

Crown prince Pavlos's family looks fit for ruling. With so many fair children they can also forge a couple of important economic alliances by marrying them to other royal families.

I'd say go for it. You have nothing to lose, right?

? You marry off a Prince for an economic stimulus?

The trouble is the low GDP growth of the Greeks would drag down the neighbours

Only if he rules as an absolute monarch for a period of at least 10 years.

Greece could do with a benevolent absolute monarch for the next 10 years. I'd be okay with that.

Absolute monarchs are worth nothing if your elites are still weak, inefficient, corrupt and self-serving.

Thus providing a further boost for the Greeks perhaps?

Conversely, maybe the neighbours would make better use of these territories ceded from Greece - so everyone wins! ;)

Well if the Greek provinces of Macedonian became part of Macedonia then Macedonia would no longer be mostly Macedonian because of the large number of Greeks of Turkish origin that would have to be given Macedonian citizenship. It would of course solve the naming dispute which would boost GDP to the core part of Greece:goodjob:

I cannot see it happening.

It's unfortunate that there's no annoying Turkish nationalists on CFC. r16 is more wtfy then truly annoying. Maybe if there would be, the CFC mob would treat Greece better.

What a disgustingly perfect looking family. They look like one of those singing family bands in those white suits.

Im sure there must be one bad apple in the family

I remember a story about Simeon II (king of Bulgaria) and Constantine(king of Greece) from the time they were teenagers in US. They were both in a car without any ID or driver licenses and a cop stopped them. He asked them for ID, license etc. and they answered they didn't have any in them. The police officer asked for their names, and they said that they were Simeon king of Bulgaria and Constantine king of Greece, the policeman laughed and said he was the chief of FBI and arrested them :D Then in the police station it became clear that they were really both kings...(one is Tsar actually ;) )
