+1 to Monty, because he really deserves it. The voice acting is great. I know and heard a lot it has some spanish words, but from what I know a voice actor just reads what he's told to read - it's not Montyman's fault. And he puts all the emphasis where it's needed, keeping his performance interesting, fresh and sometimes sinister.

And... Just look at the screen. Those skulls. The shadows. The screaming crowd! So much love was evidently put into this guy and his design. It's very close to perfection.

-3 to Kamehameha. There's nothing interesting in the screen besides a silly hat, some meh boats and... a beach?
Kamehameha can't even claim the ultimate mastery of Wearing Pants, because this is a title claimed by proud William.

I don't really know what's the fascination with Harold his theme ain't great and neither is his boat and maybe its just a pride thing but I can't stand looking up at leaders. I am looking at you Suleiman !

And for those who think I vote Theodora for Brest's that's not that otherwise Catherine might have lived longer its actually for her big beautiful round architecture in the backround the Hagia Sophia plus her voice is amazing and so is both leader music peace and war.

Montezuma - 33-3=30, I feel like Monty is overrated. His speech is riddled with Spanish words that could have been easily replaced by native Nahuatl words, I have no clue what building he is inside. Are Aztec courts really that dark or is it at night? A lot of stereotypical savagery in the depiction. I know Aztecs were that bloody, but still. Die, Die ,Die doesn't seem like something a real Aztec rulers would have said. I'm too afraid to see how modern Nahuatl speakers would react to this portrayal.

I`ll just leave the pic here. Unless you were complaining about the guy's skin being not dark enough. But even then, did you expect Kamehameha to be as dark as Shaka?
<snip>

And there I was thinking that was just a random silly hat...'scuse me while I bang on my head :hammer2:.

I'm torn on my upvote, but with a few other people coming to the rescue of Pocatello, and two hits on Kamehameha, I'm going to risk my plus 1 on Kamehameha and hope it will make a difference, but three of my top 5 are tied for last, so basically my civs are pretty much done.

I'm not sure what other people see in the screens that are rated high while the screens I love are languishing so much. To be fair, I interact with still pics since my PC can't handle the animation well. Maybe that's part of it?

In my mind, the night/moon/tent/desert combo is beautiful and unique for Ahmad, Kamehameha's screen is a true unique gem among screens + language, and Pocatello's "nature" screen is one that makes a ton of sense for the leader and has a wonderful palette AND has a near-extinct language AAAND it's unique background really stands out.

So many of the leading screens - while good - look too samey to other screens to me. I don't know how Haile, Willam, Sejong, Maria, Isabella outlast Kamehameha, Pocatello, and Ahmad.

And I still think boobs shouldn't be a reason for an upvote.

Anyways, -3 to Isabella. Not much to it as a still, though I admit it is a nice screen overall. Like someone said earlier - these are all good screens now, so downvoting is tough.

Tastes differ, and every down-vote now is just nitpicking, which is usually a bit random. Also some leaders got low not due to the mass-dislike, but due to some users being more active in the elimination threads and focusing down one particular screen. I gave half of all the down-votes to Nebby, and now I`m looking in horror at Byzantium's peace theme being crushed by the votes of one single person.

Harun is ok, but nothing amazing. Definitely worse than most of the people around 10 right now.

Shaka is awesome. If he doesn't win this I'll be disappointed. Every time his screen comes up I'm legitimately scared, his music is awesome (both sides) and he has a incredible, commanding voice. That's the problem I have with most of these actually, they don't sound like rulers, they just sound like random people.

Pocatello - 11 Voting for Pocatello because I think he deserves to outlast Isabella. I don't find the music or the leader particularly irritating, and the visuals are a nice change from the settings of the other leaders.
Isabella - 10 Isabella looks more like a nun than a queen to me. I'm guessing that was somewhat intentional, but the effect is a little over-the-top.

MARIA I
Sure, it may not be the starry night sky that most CivFanatics like, and it may not be the big, grand leaderscreen that some other leaders have, but this leaderscreen is still one of the best. Everything in this leaderscreen just fits with everything else, from the colours, to the aesthetic, the music, the composition, the layers - everything just comes together so beautifully to create a delightfully charming leaderscreen which perfectly represents the Portugal Civ. It's not the shiniest Civ, nor is it the grandest, most overpowered, but all of it's elements just come together so smoothly, so seamlessly, and it creates a delightful Civ to play as. Truly, this is a leaderscreen which accurately represents the Civ it is attached to.

POCATELLO
While this leaderscreen really does bring quite a bit of charm and personality to the table, it does have a few fatal flaws. The first of this is just how much rock-brown there is on the screen. The second is, though intentional, just how boring Pocatello is. Whether he's declaring trading, declaring friendship, or declaring war, Pocatello always seems to have a plain, brooding, neutral face. It's cohesiveness was enough to save it in the earlier rounds, but now that it's the worst of the best round it really is a liability.

All of the leaders left on this screen, for the most part, either have good, really good, or great leader screens. There really aren't any bad leaderscreens left, so for the duration of this thread I'll be deciding on a basis of which is the worst of the best.

I'd really like to see Isabella kicked out of the list before any of the others, maybe its just because Spanish is my native language, but I cant stand the bland voice acting. Funny thing is, she has some great dialogues, she even calls you demon spawn, and she couldnt put any less emotion if she tried. so yeah.

I'll give a point to Pacal, while his outfit is not entirely historical, its close enough, and I have to apply the "law of cool" he does look incredible, only his nose thingy bothers me. However the scene is great, cool background, nice location, extra points in my book for having the temples painted red, and the acting is really vivid as well, I love it when you declare war on him, and he just laughs at you.

Maria I - 25
Pocatello - 8
Isabella - 7-3=4, Alhambra background has been blurry since getting Gods and Kings, no idea why? plus Izzy's voice is too weak and unfitting for a Castilian Queen

Isabella is a nice screen, but not an amazing one. Simpler costume, simpler background, no real highlight in the screen.

Pocatello gets my vote: the neutral thing works for me: it seems character/culture appropriate from what I've read of his leadership, and also works for his CivV ability and attributes: taking up so much land, but defensive bonus - he keeps an even keel and doesn't want to upset the balance or instigate anything. As for the rocks - it's something different from all the stone backgrounds and decorated offices.

I think Pocatello should stay alive ahead of some of the same-y screens. (There's an eagle in the background! EAGLE!)
