A foreigner wouldn't have had a clue that attacking a no-nothing city at the center of the country would have terror impact at that level. Marseilles is probably the Oklahoma City of France, the heartland of the French. They would attack Marseilles to show the French that they were targeting the whole people, not just the elites in Paris.

The only other thing I can think of is if there were a decent sized muslim population in Marseilles, but that has never factored in a terrorist attack to my knowledge, so that's not likely what you are getting at.

There's a low mountain or hill ridge on the east side of Israel to help hold much of the toxic soot in place while it settles. It would be like smog in Los Angeles for a week, except more deadly. Though, weather could make an impact since rain would wash out much of the soot in the air, a strong low pressure zone to the north would reverse the winds to the west, and so on.

(Man, Israel is small! It's only 20,400 square km. Michigan is 147k sq. km and our state isn't that notable as states go. Woah!)

I'm impressed by your geographical knowledge. I wonder whose Rutters you stole, but they are not very accurate. Marseille is one the 5 biggest cities in France, and one of the biggest port in Mediterrannee (I even think it's the biggest).

There is a slight difference between a terrorist attack where a suicide bomber blows a restaurant with mainly Israeli and a few Arabs, and using a nuke with a large area of effects, making the land you try to get back inhabitale for a while.

Sure, and the Alps stopped Chernobyl radioactive cloud. It's a well known fact it stopped right at the French border. You see, Schengen was not in place yet, and free circulation in Europe was not so easy at the time

I suppose then the high cancer rate in Japan or around Chernobyl are just propaganda. In the case of Japan something done by the Japanese to make the West feel guilty and buy Japanese electronics. That's exactly the point. You cannot make a large nuclear attack in Israel without killing many muslims, and making the land you want back inhabitable for a while, and damaging one of your holly city.
Imagine the LILA (Long Island Liberation Army) trying to nuke Manhattan !
