Let's play Devil's Advocate!

Ok hmm. How can i defend creationism :mischief:

Hmm... Well look at how hot girls look. How could something so sexy evolve naturally?

Silly question but how can we tell if the thread is a 'devil' thread or a real one?

Could we prefix the title with DA (devil's advocate) ?

Honestly, I don't like the idea of playing Devils Advocate. Mainly because it goes against my views that I hold on Strongly.

Try it you might like it. No ones asking you to betray your views, but taking a broader aspect might enlighten them, there are always two sides to any story, you'll never really understand the counter argument unless you immerse yourself in it.

How about the Israel vs Palestine? Always a good one there

That is the general feeling that I have that I would betray my views (As well as whatever I say there would be used AGAINST me :scared: )

I can't see why? People would understand that your being hypocritical, if there used against you then that's just idiotic. I think we all know where you stand Civ, no one with any sense would confuse your contrary viewpoint with your actual viewpoint.

I must admit though it's disturbing to argue for something you are against wholeheartedly, but it's also helpful for better understanding; you won't change your views by arguing the contrary but you may well get a broader perspective. But it's up to you of course, if it feels too uncomfortable then you shouldn't be a part of it.

Well, I just posted mines. Not sure if it went out alright.

Also for a topic, I would like to add in:
"Child Spanking: Yea or Ne"

I don't think you have to worry about that, CG.... Everyone is saying the opposite of what they believe.

And as far as betraying your views, you don't have to actually believe it, just make a decent argument.

It'll be good for you!

So, Basically, this is eseentially invoking the Rhetorical principle of the Dissoi Logoi (two sided argument) where one has to argue both one's views, AND the opposing views? (only in this case, since everyone here already has argued their views ad infinitum, we'll be taking the opposing stance only in these threads)

Sounds fun, although I will be sitting out of the first one... I know too much about the technical procedures and other things that go on "behind the scenes" with abortion to be able to argue for it... Anyone who knew what I did and argued for abortion would have to be completely heartless, and I can't put myself into that frame of mind.... The other ones are fair game, though. :)

Sounds cool especially since in school we're just starting this.

Ok, so I'm (just to let everyone so i'll have to stick with it) going to be: pro-abortion, against the teaching of intelligent design, a Democrat, an atheist, for the Palestinians, for Communists, for terrorists, for the Welfare State, for Islam, slightly anti-Iraq war, slightly pro-gay rights, slightly pro-stem cell research, all for being cruel to girls in relationships, against the death-penalty, and generally think that most problems (crime, racism, being poor, etc.) are caused by environment, etc. and aren't the person's actual fault.

This list is just a reminder for me so that I'll always remember my position.

Now, GO OBAMA!

I'm resurrecting this old labour of mine with two new, topical topics, and one evergreen one.

I'm making DA 05 on "Creationism vs. Evolution", and DA 06 and DA 07 on Hillary Clinton and Ron Paul, respectively. Or rather, I've just made them. ;) See the OP for details.

No republic vs con. monarchy (in terms of head of state)? Or maybe republic vs direct democracy (in terms of legislation)?

Gridiron football vs soccer?

:(

Hooray, a giant exercise in passive-aggressive trolling!
