"Like" button

I'm a fan of doing things anonymously-- so that only the poster of the liked post sees who or how many people liked it, and that the total likage a poster garners isn't displayed. This would help posters know what posts of theirs garners favor and adjust future posting habits accordingly, without biasing the readers or the community.

That's fortunate, since I want to keep it exceptionally simple :p

My proposal is to have a little button on each post with a number next to it. You click the button, and the number next to it goes up one. Only one vote per post. The higher the number, the more people "recommend" or "like" or "vote" for this post as being a good post. There are no negative votes.

I would strongly agree with implementing this, especially in on-topic forums even if you don't want it, in, say Coliseum.

I really don't want to read which other posts are voted up or down. But I'd like to vote posts up or down and I'd like to know how my posts are voted. So once again I reiterate my position of it being publicly anonymous.

But presumably people will still only 'like' what they actually like, even if their main reason for doing so is because there's a nice and shiny button.

Make the button ugly.
Problem solved ?

Well since it was Mise's idea, we could have a picture of his face from the member photos thread on the button, killing 2 birds with one stone ;)

How about make it appear when you click on it. :mischief:

I would put a daily limit on the # of votes so you would only vote for things you really liked.
