Thanks. This will be something to work with along with what Thlayli's just told me, but I will probably end up reading the entire thing anyway :O

I stand.

Info for Dengarai sometime soon.
In brief from the mod: Dengarai is a nation descended from the Lengels, who following their conquest of Davar intermixed with parts of the local population, particularly in the more provincial interior of the country. Davar liberated itself after the collapse of the Lengels, quickly uniting with the nation of Arcadia (descended from mariners who fled from the Lengels) to form the Union of Ardan. This nation was a moderate power, but it became involved in a war against Gorin, and Khemrian intervention led to the destruction of the Union of Ardan. The nation fell under Kalmar occupation, where it was a rather unmanageable province. Eventually Kalmar rule fell apart, and the nation split into an Arcadia-ruled region around Ardan, in the east, the Keranians in the south, and some Provincial Davians and proto-Dengarians in the interior. Khemri 'restored order' by occupying the latter two, causing many of the Provincial Davians to migrate northwards into the abandoned lands of the Citadel, forming the Barony of the Hugions.

Khemri briefly assumed complete control over the region of Davar, before the Anabetan war began. Lord Anabet of Khi empowered the Dengarians to overthrow the Loyalist governor, which they did with great skill. Meanwhile, the Union of Ardan retook its eponymous capital amidst the chaos, splitting Davar once again into factions.

Dengarai, rapidly rising in strength, allied with the Keranians and began an invasion of Gorin. It has gained huge tracts of land, though it does not yet strongly control them. Yashala desires to regain the Crystalist homelands, and the Keranians, who have fought by Dengarai's side since the beginning, are agitating for independence.

Iggy, you know that I don't want to confine myself to an individual Valin nation. But I'll continue on as Neaveritas if I can have a significant amount of input on Paleaveritas' direction for the next few turns.
Of course. I'll keep you as Neaveritas, but also as the Eldarium in Veritas Proper.

Welcome back!

That was me you talked to. I have the history down, what I'm looking for is religious and cultural stuff.

Ugh, need to get reacquainted with recent history all over again. :p

Iggy, how many updates do you think you might be able to squeeze in over the summer?

@NK- Not sure how many updates I'll be able to do, but if I could do one a week, that would be awesome. However, I think I'll be aiming for a once every two weeks schedule, including the military mini-updates.

@Shadowbound- Awesome, I just found it too. Question mark removed. ;)

Religiously, the Dengarians are Pirian Oneist with a few influences and traces of Lengri, their original religion. Pirians are Oneists who are follows of Saint Pire, and use the Hypandium Texts as their holy books. Pirians claim to be closer to the original intentions of Oneism than the Orthodox Oneists. Lengri is the traditional faith of the Lengels, viewing battle as the height of expression for the human soul. It worships the Koke, the Eternal Blue Heaven.

Lengri syncretism is often referred to as Tengri, but that's just terminological nitpicking.

The Keran people are the ancient residents of the southern reaches of the mountain range that shares their name. According to their own mythology, the ancient Kerans were allies of the Autorex Strategius, the legendary destroyer of Eldrania. At a handful of periods of history, the Kerans have had independence, but regardless of all of the changes around them, they have remained in the same general geographic region, and maintained their strong Orthodox faith. The Kerans have fought alongside the Dengarians since the original rebellion against the Loyalists of Khemri, however, now many of them are requesting for their loyalty to be rewarded with independence. To quote events at the Council of Kallamas:

Representative Miloszai of Dengarai
Dengarai has little to request regarding Khemri. However, with regards to Gorin, we have no intentions of returning lands to the Kingdom of Gorin. However, we do intend to grant independence to the Nkondi, who have been co-operative with our nation. We expect that our Iron Face friends will do the same, returning Nkondi to its original borders.

Representative Yvanus Gogur of Kerania
Though we lack independence for the time being, I wish to let it be known to this council that Kerania desires its independence. We have worked in close alliance with Dengarai, and now that our enemies are vanquished, we see no need for Dengarai to continue administering our people. Grant independence to the Keranians, so that this may be accomplished between civilized Oneist gentlemen on a bargaining table, not on the fields of war.

Actually, I just found a nice quote from Gogur when the Arcadian representative suggested that the Kerans were a creation of Khemri:

Representative Yvanus Gogur of Kerania

You idiot! You utter fool! You would claim that we exist simply because of the whims of some pompous prince of Khemri! Damned be he who says so and believes his words. The Kerans have fought alongside the Valins as loyal allies since the Great Crusade, when our race's father, Goludani, joined a general no less than Strategius himself! Together, along with your own predecessors, we slew the demon that was Eldrania of old. We joined the glorious republic that emerged victorious, and fought alongside the Valins during the Great Nurmaferi war, holding out even after the Valins had fallen. While they left, to one day return victorious, we remained humiliated as powerless vassals of Khemri. During the War of the White Rose, we fought along with the Order, staying true until defeat, where we were brutally crushed and repressed by Khemri. We fought for our independence again and again, never surrendering the fire of the One. When the Dengarians arose, we joined our co-religionist brothers, Pirian though they be, and fought alongside them to secure Oneism throughout our region. Alongside Dengarai we crushed the northern army of Anabet, which threatened this very city in which we stand today!

And you denounce us. Withdraw your words! Damned be he who would pass off the Kerans so lightly!

Alright, any specific questions?

Yes, you're part of a defensive league in Azulia.

They aren't really peaceful either, they had some scuffles with Arcadia over Venix a few times.

Mini military updates?

I'll jump in well, and I'm willing to take anything you trust me with. I suppose I'll wait for some more confirmations to roll in before seeing what my options are.

Technically, all of those wars were defensive, and the Norvalins ended up losing.

The idea of military mini-updates is that after an update, people involved in wars send short orders, as the commanders of their forces, to help conclude their wars or come up with peace, so that we don't have weird situations like having a 60 year period between the conclusion of a war and its peace treaty, or active wars dragging on for centuries, when most of the soldiers should have died of old age.

This isn't to say that wars wouldn't necessarily last for more than one turn, just that such situations would not be the norm.

I'll think I'll join up. but not as anything currently on the map.
Gotcha. ;)

Welcome Nylan! Great to see you back amongst the NESers.

Interesting free nations include Trinlin (used to be a great empire, now something of a rump state with some potential), Felaran Rozan (a regional power in the south of Terrania, of somewhat conflicted identity), Guarela (a peripheral Bladeist nation in the south, currently defending against an Envian invasion), Yashala (the last remaining Crystalist state), the Barony of the Hugions (talked about them a few posts ago with Dengarian history), Gamorrea (if it reunites, it's currently devolving into a barbarian swarm that is invading the Hugions), Otaria (An island disputed between Bladeists, Oneists, Pirates, Religious Fanatics, Guangfei, and Conspiracy Theorists), Syracia (a technologically advanced nation on the eastern fringe of Azulia, unfortunately, also on the front lines of a massive invasion), Tir Tairngire and Chancosanx (two Divotheist nations and members of the Azulian League).

Also, perhaps playing as the Kerans or Nkondi would work- their independence was announced by NPC Dengarai in the Council of Kallamas (which is definitely worth reading if you want an update on the current diplomatic situation), but we're not sure if Shadowbound will follow through on that promise.
