We only need (a lot) more settlers.

1350 AD
 Where are my artillery stacks? Even cavalry army against infantry is too risky for my taste on a regular basis.

I am disappointed to find our infantry army is being wasted in the Middle East and not pillaging Russia. It will be heading north during my turns.

I rush a harbor in our silks city. If France declared war we would lose our silks. I cash rush a few settlers to fill in the Africa gap the AI settlers want. Even with this rushes, and upgrading units we still have over $5000.

I end the Brazil phony war with them giving us $6. I end the Iroquois phony war straight up. I then take his $1662 in exchange for refining. I end the Mongols phony war with them giving us $53.
(IT) Once again we get who cares foreign advisor announcements about cross continents wars.
Iroquois declare war on the Aztecs thanks to an alliance with Russia.

Our American trading partners no longer want horses.

We are running out of units to fill armies with, so I switch back to military for the moment.

1355 AD
I bombard, and then raze Uruk killing 2 infantry. I gain $7 and 1 worker.

New Umtata2 is formed to close what I think the African gap the AIs are heading toward. The Zulu have a healthy 162 free workers. I decide to merge a few of our natural workers to speed up growth.

The Iroquois just got a ton of cash so I sell them flight for $3497. I send Replaceable Parts to America for $61/turn, $60 and a worker. I end the phony war with Argentina and they pay us $100. Venezuela gets horses for $23/turn.
(IT) America and the Iroquois sign peace.
India and China sign peace. :(

Zimbabwe is building an airport as it can build a bomber every turn.

I get my favor message - cultural border expansion. I can't wait until Africa is locked down without gaps.

1360 AD
It is not my typical style, but I simply use to armies to raze Shuruppak killing an infantry and guerilla. It was just going to take to long to get the artillery support to the city. We get $8 and no workers for our trouble.

New Umfolozi 2, New Isipezi 2 and New Ibabanago 2 are formed. All of these claim more territory in the Middle East.

I plant a spy in France. I try one on Persia and fail. We are now at war with Persia.

I auto-raze Samara and Ashur for nothing. I kill 2 Persian infantry / settler pairs. I won't argue as this will let us continue to merge in the home grown workers. I also grab 3 workers just across the border.

I end the phony way with Australia giving them flight and $1100 and getting atomic theory in return. We are now only down by Electronics. They really want oil badly as they give us furs and $24/turn.

Backwards Brazil has some cash so I ship them Sanitation for $315 and wm.
(IT) The Russian and Iroquois embargo against us ends.

A few Persian cavalry cross our borders and one of them dies.

1365 AD
I kill 5 Persian cavalry inside our borders at the cost of 1 cavalry.

Ellipi is razed for $0 and 1 worker.

I don't see us renewing this deal, but I ship oil to India for $285 / turn! It shouldn't give them many tanks in 20 turns, but after that we need to be very careful. I gave the oil to Australia earlier as Australian tanks aren't much of a threat.

(IT) Russia and Babylon sign a peace treaty.

1370 AD
I kill 8 cavalry and 8 infantry.
During this process I get a couple more conscripts up to regular.

New Amatikulu 2 is formed to fill a gap in the Middle East.
(IT) Venezuela and the Aztecs sign peace.
Babylon and Russia ally vs. China.

OUCH - I missed one pathway in and Persia kills a few of our workers.

1375 AD
I kill 2 cavalry, 2 riflemen, 2 immortal and 2 infantry. I lost our elite MDI and a 1 regular infantry. I did promote 2 regular infantry to a more useful veteran.

New Zunguin 2 and Zimbabwe 3 are formed.

Summary:
Please CAPTURE Persepolis as I want Sistine Chapel. I would then clear the only nearby Persian cities. The goal in the war is to get open pathways to Russia and India. We must start fighting both of them soon.

Our research rate is going through the roof. As of 1325 100% science gave 393 beakers, and we now get 540 beakers. Keep those large cities growing and get more libraries / universities on-line. Mass production is on the way, and tanks shouldn't be far behind.

We are still in limited troop building mode. The building situation is better as we are now building Wall Street.

Some things I forget to mention in my summary:

1) The army in the Turkish mountains is heading toward Russia to start a pillaging campaign. We need to slow this leader down.

2) IMO we have 3 cores threats - Russia, India and France. However, I don't want to start any major pushes against those 3 until we are done with building mode.

3) We have enough cash for a steal, I just forgot about it. I would try for electronics from Russia. I don't want to risk a war with France and / or India at this time.

4) I would continue to keep us in mostly building mode. We managed to get North Africa and the Middle East with limited forces. I wouldn't start back building armies until additional cities are building troops.

5) I would keep rushing military in Greenland. I don't want a French or Iroquois war to cost us the silks. We should have units parked on the silks, walls, and infantry in the city.

Lk75, 1375

War is drawing near, and we will hopefully soon have finished our infra, so we actually can make war.
Lee, you must have missed defending our Wall Street City. It is empty, while most other coastal cities have two defenders. I withdraw protection from a less central city, to cover our wonder builder.

I have never ever seen so many empty cities, but our larger cities are building hospitals, and cannot draft.

I rush a couple of front line temples. ( The French front, where we need to ease up the pressure. )

Techwise we are almost at parity with leaders. France is at the top with Electronics and Mass production, Russia and India have Electronics. Russia has an amazing 25.000 gold, but they lack Horse, Iron, Saltpeter and Coal, so I am a bit uncertain what it is I should Pillage, as that makes it look like they are pillaged good and proper. Australia jas somehow managed to trade themselves Electronics as well.

In the manner of all luxes is good luxes, I trade gems and Incense to Iroqs in exchange for their Dyes.

I think about signing peace with Babylon, and decide to bite. It is likely we have been researching Mass Production for a while, so I steal Electronics from Russia with a safe steal.

IBT: I notice I have a new computer as a war declaration only takes about 15 seconds now, instead of minutes on my earlier portable. :band:
We beat back two Persian cavalry, and that’s it. Our turn.
Mass Production went from 10 to 8 turns in the IBT, but it remains to be seen if that means other countries got it, or if the heavy investments in infrastructure are paying for themselves.’

1380 I learn there is a maximum range for rebase missions of fighters. How about that. Still learning stuff after all these years.
A massive bombardment from 26 artillery redlines Persepolis, and a short while later, we own the Sistine Chapel. Twelve resisters makes me count on a flip or two, so beware of garrisoning this city heavily.
I spend a lot of time and effort in trying to optimize our core for growth. This will be better in the long run for our infra, rather than trying to do both growth and infra at the same time. Cities will need to be reset after they reach their targeted size.

Kills Inf: 7, Cav:4

I think about signing peace with Babylon, and decide to bite.
If you did sign peace what did we get?

I was avoiding peace in case we got that fluke remote flip and lost Babylon. That would be a disaster after selling all of our barracks.

Oops, my bad. I only got six workers, and did not want their cities in far off Asia.

I did not think of the flip. I will be more careful henceforth.

Grimjack

IBT: A Persian cavalry suicides, and a Persian settler guarded by a fearsome rifleman enters our land. That’s it, not even a load of bogus warfare.

1385 I move troops and artillery into position for a dual strike next turn. Get the two free slaves Persia sent me, and laugh at the coal lacking French.
Income is down 130 gpt, so some deal must have been done. I will see if I can find any one rich besides France and India.
All the warfare has paid off. Russia, Persia, France and India are all Fascist states, and are expected to pop rush themselves into oblivion.

I sell the Iroqs horses and Saltpeter, hoping he wont use the cavalry against us. He pays 51 gpt, so it is a bit of money at least. That was all the money I could find outside the big three.
Despite a valiant effort, I cannot budge Mass Production from the six turn slot.

IBT: I spot Indian troops attacking Persian cities, and fail. I see French and Russian troops duke it out. We lose a guerilla to three cavalry. Time to deal some hurting on the Persians.

1390 How about that, this turn Mass Prod is at four, guess it paid off after all to push science. Persia has sent a Catapult into our lands. The fear I know is without bounds.

I kill off five infantry and one cavalry, but Pasergade survive the siege with an unknown number of redlined infantry defending.

Ack, as I pillage our first tile of Russian soil, we trigger an MPP with our Dyes supplier. That’s not good. It is the Iroqs. I will have to hope the French can bear the brunt of the fighting in Greenalnd, as they are also fighting the iroqs.
At least we can raze Gordium for the Persians. This shortens the front considerably as long as we do not consider the Indians our enemies.

I use bombers to kill two more defenders at Pasergade, and decide to send in the last army I had held in reserve. It is not enough, and Pasergade still stands.

No deals available during map sales.

IBT: Get booted out of India. Russia and France signs peace. I will have to do something about that during my turn later. France wants to renew a 77 gpt deal for Saltpeter, but I decline. I want to see if she will help me against Russia before I sell her stuff that she can use against us. Russia sign in Brazil against us. America sign a trade embargo, and the circus seems to start up again.

We complete Wall Street.

I expect to raze two ro three more cities. Things are slowed by the huge cultural borders the Persians have erected.

1395 Time to see if I can break the Persians. Pasergade is now defended by a single Infantry, 3 conscript riflemen and a couple of cavalry. An easy fight, but they sucked the available attacks from my troops nevertheless. It is razed of course. I build Ulundi 3 to secure some Saltpeter near here.

IBT: France cancel the Ivory for gold deal. I do not renew. Ooops, I forgot to reenlist France into the war against Russia. We get a bunch of annoying embargos against us.
I start an army build in Isand, seeing we might have too few troops to reliably generate a leader, should we have the opportunity to steal Motorized once we get Mass production.

1400 I pillage my way towards the oil of Russia with our pillaging infantry army. Move artillery into position to pummel yet another Persian city.
Not much to say. I move up a couple of armies next to the Persian cities, hoping they will rush/draft themselves to size 12 or less. I have saved a couple of Artillery and cavalry as reserve in the northernmost fortress.
I have also started a build of a transport on our west coast, in case we may want to rush one, and take out the Songhai, as they are being obnoxious, and prolong game turns.

Buy back the French into the war against Russia for 44 gpt. We can pay some 1500 gold to Australia for Mass Production, and it might be wise, as we would save two turns. ON the other hand, if we do that, then we cannot afford to steal Motorized should that be known. Mongols have 40 gpt if you feel we are strapped for cash.

I have not done extensive microing. We have a couple of core cities optimized though, and some 100 workers fortified in the core.

If you feel you have the time, you might want to investigate if we can get Mass Prod in one turn, getting everyone and his brother to be scientists. It could be close, since I could lower to 70% and still have three turns, last turn. I do think such an effort would be better spent seeing how many taxmen we could get instead though.

I do not think Persia is able to counter, but we are getting close to Russia. I suspect we can own Hoovers within 10 turns.

Saev: Go and get them

I have also started a build of a transport on our west coast, in case we may want to rush one, and take out the Songhai, as they are being obnoxious, and prolong game turns.
Great minds think alike. :D
I was thinking about doing the same thing during my turn

We can pay some 1500 gold to Australia for Mass Production, and it might be wise, as we would save two turns.
Australia is no real threat to us, so I agree with you to buy it. After that I am fine with us researching tanks. We have strong research power.

We have a couple of core cities optimized though, and some 100 workers fortified in the core.
I realize moving 100+ workers is a pain, but please don't fortify them. As long as we have any tiles to develop I want to do so. I am sure some of North Africa still needs irrigation and rails.

Actually, we cannot find work for the workers. Sure, there are tiles that lack rails and irrigation, but the cities next to them will use at most six of the tiles, so we have no citizens working unrailed tiles as of now.

I used the workers mostly to optimize food in growth cities at the start of my turns, and then mining as the cities reached the size where there were no more tiles to work. I believe that in the core, engineers/taxmen/scientists are worse than optimizing production from tiles.

At the core, we have five cities building military, and I have started to build up our bomber force, as I felt we had enough artillery, and bombers would let us pummel cities deep into the culture border, allowing us to progress faster than waiting on artillery to move.

I feel we lack fighters though, as Russia might start to build bombers soon. We have two fighters at the front now. We also lack troops. It might not be meaningful to build Cavalry, but infantry is needed/wanted everywhere.

Pillaging incurs a hit in time, as routes need to be refound. Do not forget to beeline to Russias oil before going wild on the pillaging. If Russia lacks oil, it will take until Rocketry before they will be a threat again.

Actually, we cannot find work for the workers.
I guess we need more territory from Persia to put the slackers back to work. ;)

At the core, we have five cities building military, and I have started to build up our bomber force,
I am glad to here we are past just 2 cities on military. Once all most of the core is on military the world had better watch out.

One request I have is to not turn this into a bomber fest game where bombers along take out all land units. Now bombing out ships is fine. I would NOT be upset to see a few AI ships dying in our oceans.

I really love how strong our research ability has gotten. We gained another 83 beakers / turn in just 5 turns. We still have more cities to grow, libraries / universities to build, and commercial docks are coming.

I was wrong on purchasing Mass Production from Australia. This would be a total rip-off. We need less then 900 beakers to finish, but the Australia wants ~1525. This is an absurd premium to save 2 turns. We don't need Mass Production that badly. I would rather save the cash to steal tanks, or a future tech. To give you an idea how powerful the scientists cities are we can finish in 5 turns at 0% science.

I see more temples completed in Africa. 13% of the world still has a long way to go to domination, but we are seeing progress. I think several more border gaps will be closed by my turn.

I am glad to see Grimjack merged even more natural workers in. :D

We need to start thinking about the UN soon.

I missed two or three workers to merge though. I was to fast on the 'r' button. :(

If you take out the Songhai, then those workers could be joined to cities as well.

As to bombers, I was hoping for some 10 - 15 to use in speeding up the high culture low tech countries, where artillery takes a while to wheel into position.

Grimjack

If you take out the Songhai, then those workers could be joined to cities as well.
I would keep the Songhai workers. While the workers are idle at the moment we may need to rail a lot of territory in a show time frame. If we really need natural workers to merge we would cash rush them out of some of our stuck at size 6 / 12 cities.

1400 AD (0)
I max our science and even though we can't get to 1 turn, we can turn science down to 60% and still get MassProd in two. I do little selling and get our income up to 530gpt. I rush some temple and needed units in various places, trying to keep enough for the tech steal.
(I) America and France ally against the Babs. Watch the French take on the Russians. The Babs and Songhai make happy. We lose Taudene in Greenland to the Iroquois. The French and Mongols make happy. The songhai and the Chinese ally against the Aztecs. Watch the Russians go after the French. France and Australia make happy. France and Persia sign a trade embargo against us.

1110 AD (1)
Bombard as much as I can. We take out 4 Infantry, a rifle and a Cav to raze Bactra. We get an arty and 7 more slaves. Three infantry and a Cav bite the dust as Antioch is razed, netting 11 more slaves. Can't do much for the science, we are right on the edge to get the tech. I give us some extra scientists for safety. I found a couple of cities to replace the razed ones.
(I) Australia and India ally against the Aztecs. France and Persia ally against Babylon. Argentina and Brazil embargo us. Argentina and China make happy. Babylon and Russia embargo us. The Iroquois and Russians ally against America. That gets rid of the trade embargo against us between America and the Iroquois. ONe one with Brazil and Aregentina inds as well. Brazil and Russia ally vs. Venezuela. Australia and Babylon make happy. We get MassProd and start on MotTran due in 11 at 100% and +218gpt

1120 AD (2)
The arty redlines the infantry and Cav in Arbela. The Bombers kill off the two infantry on top. Two elite Cav take out the redlined Cav and we raze Arbela, we don't get any slaves but we pick up two arty. I found a city to replace it. I then bombard and clean up 2 infantry and 3 guerillas. BTW, no one has MotTran, so we will be close to the first with tanks. I chose to not steal Amphib. I declare on the Songhai and when I move to land the troops, I find that Aregentina already has troops sitting on the only square that we can land on.
(I) Australia and India ally against Persia. The Indians are marching towards the Persians. China and Brazil embargo us..we don't need no stinkin' trade. China and Brazil ally against Australia. Oh no, The Chinese and Songhai embargo us. The Mongols and Aztecs ally against America.

1130 AD (3)
Bombard and raze Sardis getting three new workers. I build a city to replace it. I clean up a Cav and guerilla. I cash rush some temples. Maybe I should steal Amphib after all? I will wait a turn or two more and hope the Argentinian is taken care of.
(I) China and France make happy. America and Brazil follow suit. The Mongols and Songhai join the peace train. Indai and the Iroquois are next. America and Argentina go for it as well. Songhai and America ally against Australia. India and Babylon make happy. The Mongols and Australia ally against the Aztecs.

1140 AD (4)
We bombard and raze Sidon, takeing out 3 infantry and a guerilla. We get 3 arty and 6 more workers. I clean up an infantry and 3 guerillas. There is now a Songhai rifle in place of the Argentinian one. Hopefully, it will withdraw to the city and we can land next turn. I finally get to pillage the Russian oil after having to go around some units. I will get their ivory next.
(I)France and Brazil make happy. The Persian/Franco trade embargo ends. Persia declares on the French.

1150 AD (5)
The Songhai moved so our troops land! The bombers don't do enough damage for me to atack any city. I guess I will have to be satisfied with setting things up to hit the Songhai and at least one Persian city next turn. I parked the army so it can wait for tanks.
