LotR Series...

I'ld like to try it was well.

11 civ on a standard map, that will mean early wars, and probably not only between us and the AI, could be interesting if one AI dominates quickly the "other" hemisphere and try to run away with the game...

Aggressive AI is probably needed if we don't want to walk over 2 or 3 AI in the 1st part of the game before normal AI start thinging 1 archer is enough to defend my capital... (BTW is there an UU for archer that will make attacking city a nightmare).

I would play too, if you think you can live with a unexperienced player. The first SG i ever participated just started :D.

I like Aggressive AI, but i like the normal one as well, so fine with both. As the game seems to be military oriented with all those UU's, AggAI might be a good idea.

[Edit @ Jabbah]There several UU's for archer - Skirmisher, Bowman come to mind.

That was quick.

Roster:
Arathorn
T_McC (I remember you from such SGs as LotR13 Schizo SGers)
LKendter (once again possibly the only one to have used all the UUs before)
Jabah (in time this time)
Refar (and a near-virgin)

Lee didn't vote, but the rest seemed in favor of aggressive AIs. I was leaning that way, too, but wanted to make sure it fit the personality/mood of the team. I'll do that.

Haven't checked the mod yet, but how did you decide between competing replacements for the same unit? (Praetorians vs. Jags vs. Gallics) Or are they all enabled?

They're all enabled. Causes an oddity that chariots will show "+100% vs. axemen" three times, for example, as I had to reproduce the entire unit class. For melee, mounted, etc. though, it took care of itself and all works.

I will try to avoid a really whacko turn report this time. IIRC that was the game that my brain was civ fried, and I produced a very strange report talking about the Borg.

Are you talking about this post? That was actually quite funny. I wouldn't complain about another report like that! :)

I hope it means early wars, yes. Many of the UUs come quite early (warrior, 2 archer, 2 war chariot, 2 horse archers, 3 axemen, 3 swordsmen, 2 spearmen), so we'll need/want some earlyish wars to see how they interact/relate. And, a semi-run-away AI on the other continent would be a nice late-game challenge, so we don't own our continent and sleepwalk the rest.

I would play too, if you think you can live with a unexperienced player.

Refar -- I hope that's just SG inexperienced. I don't have a problem with newbies (everybody has to start somewhere, sometime), but you need to be pretty comfortable at Monarch level to play this. If you're new to Civ4 BtS, I'm gonna ask you to step down. Either way, I recommend you read Lee's rules for SG conduct. I don't follow exactly the same ruleset (and obviously can't ban you from the LK series! :)), but pretty much the spirit of those rules.

Since his first SG is LK139 I think that is a safe bet.

Yes it was and I am jealous. It has been awhile since an LK series game filled that fast.

I don't know how I should comment on the fact that you would find the post that fast. :crazyeye:

I know the rules LK 139 is my above mentioned first SG ever :D I am not new to Civ/BTS. Can not claim to have played every UU myself, but for sure met every one against me :D I moved to monarch recently, but so far i won my every monarch game, so i think i can handle the difficultie.

LotR25 Corporate Culture
Difficulty Level: Monarch
Map size: Standard
Map: Leaning towards trying a new script – perfect maps (TBD)
Civ and Leader: Gandhi of the Indians
Traits: Philosophical and Spiritual
Game Speed: Epic
Most other things: Default settings
Win Condition(s): All enabled – our win target is cultural
Variant: We may never run artists*, turn up the culture slider, or use a great artist as a settled specialist or for a great work.

Hope/plan for victory:
Civilized Jewelers, Inc. -- +1 gold/+4 culture per gold, silver, gems (requires great artist)
Creative Constructions -- +0.5 hammer/+3 culture per iron, copper, marble, stone, aluminum (requires great engineer)
Sid’s Sushi Co. -- +0.5 food/+2 culture per crab, clam, fish, rice (requires great merchant)

Aluminum Co. – turns coal into aluminum (feeding creative constructionists) and 3 beakers (requires great scientist) potentially

And LOTS of religions. I’d like to found at least 3.

* - in a non-legendary city, we may run artists to get *ONE* great artist, to found Civilized Jewelers.

Will start once roster is full or Sunday 1/13, whichever is earlier.

Sign me up, but put me at the bottom of the roster.

My gut feeling says we really need some planing on wonders. Sistine is a given. I think we need some long-term planing early in the game.

This will be atypical culture in the fact we want three shield heavy cities as wonders will be a big help toward total culture.

If you only need one GA, there is always the free one for researching Music first. You shouldn't have a problem snagging it on monarch.

I considered that. But I decided against putting SO MUCH of the game on getting one tech first. I'd rather go that way, but I wanted to leave the option open of getting another GA for the Jewelers.

Gonna join, Conroe?

Gonna join, Conroe?

A worthy player, that's for sure.

@Arathorn: I'll be gone all day Saturday and the first half of Sunday. Even if you started this tonight, I'd still be back within 72 hours, unless you just wanted to push me back in the roster.

Its tempting ... real tempting. I really like the variant idea. No artists, no slider, just corporations and cathedrals! I think this will be a really fun game!

But I'm already in 3 games, which is pretty much my limit. That and the epic speed. Phew! For me, its like watching paint dry. :) It just seems to take forever to build anything. I guess its whatever you get used to. But it'd probably be best if I just watch this one from the sidelines.

@Methos: Thank you for the kind words! My first culture win was Meth01, with you and ChrTh. Now that was a fun game!

With this wonder specialists/great people still can generate culture. Allowed or not?
What about using building culture?

If you want me, I'll join.

LotR25 roster is full.

Arathorn
Methos
Tatran
Admiral_Kutzov
LKendter

Tatran, specialists are allowed to generate culture, via Sistine, yes. Too nit-picky for me to avoid that. I'd rather see us focus on the corp. culture, though.

And building culture? I hadn't thought about it enough. I'm going to say "no". It could probably be very powerful and I want to focus on the corporation (and wonders).

And, Admiral, there's no "putting up" with you. There's just enjoying the ride! :)

Arathorn

I will be lurking also this time.

Potentiel problem with Corporation is that they come quite late (also you need to have the proper GP, which usually mean sacing them from much earlier if you can't guaranty having the right one), so you will need to "control' the AIs to avoid one running away (should be ok at Monarch with this team, of course)
