MadV10- God Save the Queen

Man as dry as this map is I'm surprised there's not tumbleweed flying around.
So, madviking, do you think that I really did anything that reeks of cheiftan?
Worker tasks. How many turns did you use to get the worker from London to York without doing any work? He gets paid a whole gpt every 25 years to do stuff so make him do stuff.

Another question...is the water at York fresh or salt?

Along with Whomp:
Worker tasks should be as important as your build order in the entry game. You want as an absolute #1 priority to irrigate your food boni, you want to NEVER leave a tile unroaded (some exceptions may apply, but not here), you want the tiles your city works on to be improved, you want to irrigate plains rather than mine non-bonus grasslands (irrigation is faster), you want cities connected and if possible you want to avoid crossing rivers if the tile on the other side is already worked.

This being sais, analysis of what's here: cattle plains near the capital, so you want it irrigated. It would take forever to reach rivers so you lewave it simply roaded, perfect. London will be working whale, cattle + 4 tiles ebfore aqueduct, so you want 4 grasses mined and roaded, not only one.

After that, you'll start roading towards York. This means York should pop a worker first things up: the London one is far and busy.

Next settler from London is going for the river, you need the irrigation. York will build road on its way north and irrigate on its way back down. By that time the London one will have roaded to York and will come back towards London with fresh water.

The 2nd next settler will settle on the hills to make an irrigation canal. Like the hills just S or SW from the forest. And then both York and London can make good 8-turn settler factories, which is the best thing around right now.
Nota Bene: the prevision that you will put a town on a hill warrants skipping the road across it: you actually save worker turns by not roading it since popping a town will "do" the road there.

Right now this plan isn't down the drain, but London will need to produce a worker some time soon for itself

Hope it helped.

Already ahead of you, I'm taking the settler to the river and settling right on it. I only had a chance to look at the save before being called in to work early. We're getting 5 or 6 cities max right where we are. I also think I'm going to trade writing, America and Mongols already have every 1st tier tech and IW/HBR, they'll have researched thier own writing soon enough. Had we researched it before CoL maybe but I doubt it. Now to eat supper and then do the deed.
BTW we don't need a settler factory, there's no place to settle. Even need granaries!? This variant is gonna be interesting...

Preturn: Trade writing to America for IW/HBR and all their 75gs (we have no Iron). Mongols get it for their 50gs. Change London to Settler, will finish when London grows to 5.

IBT nada

1 – 1725 B.C. – Settler toward river, worker toward what is to be Kickapoo to road. Darkwing duck moves and so do the curraghs.
I think we met every civ on this continent and the next continent we should be able to reach, not much room left for it to be.

IBT nada

2 – 1700 B.C. – everything moves. America now knows MM and Philo, how’d they do that? Trade HBR to Japan and Germany for all their g (36 and 35 respectively).

IBT nada

3 – 1675 B.C. – everything moves. Build Embassies everywhere (thumb picture things below for those of you who need to see em) Sumeria is at war with Germany already.

IBT America building Pyramids, Mongols building Oracle

4 – 1650 B.C. – everything moves.

IBT nada

5 – 1625 B.C. – Worker begins Irrigation, Settler moves into position. Sumeria knows Polytheism and he's very snotty about it. Won't take Alha, IW, HBR, and 24 gold for it (not that I'd trade anyway, just checking)

IBT nada

6 – 1600 B.C. – London Settler>Settler (for now), Kickipoo is born starts temple. Explorers do their things.

IBT Japan rudely tells us to get away from his city with our boat. We agree to but dump our waste overboard when he isn’t looking! Chump.

7 – 1575 B.C. - Gangsterville warrior>warrior. Start suicide run with Gary the Curragh

IBT Japanese buiding Collossus

8 – 1525 B.C. – Worker finishes Irrigation, starts next irrigation. *NOTE* how is it all these abbreviations for CIV terms and still not one for a big word like Irrigation!? Gary survives!

IBT Sumeria politely asks us to get out of their water :) , unlike the RUDE Japanese, we kiss him on the cheek, he blushes  , we explain "It's not like that", he sais he knows but I'm not s sure...

9 – 1500 B.C. – Warrior spots Iron in German somethingberg town that seems to be Sumeria’s first target. Settler in London won’t be ready upon growth, change to temple for now, next guy can change this. Gary survives again and reaches new shore! Nothing else happens.

IBT Germany politely sais Darkwing Duck is in German sovreign territory shrug (who knew?) We agree to scram, no kiss this time.

10 – 1475 B.C. – Rage Cage moves into Kickipoo for MP.
Gonna hold it here, lot going on atm.

OK
Gary the Curragh is in view of an Iroquois Warrior, we’re up Writing on them and they have 115 gold. Only one more civ to meet.
Remember London is working on a temple, may want to change that build, your call.
Important The next settler will need to settle on the hill range to get irrigation to London.
Other Settler is set to build city wherever you like, couple choices.

I'm not to opening a SG and find I'm in the middle of a turn. No big deal, but I prefer to be met by "Click space bar to continue".
D-Duck pulls out of germany. We don't want to annoy Bismarc too much with 37 g's in the box and orders to cave.
Some moves seem odd. A mined cow at York and a worker irrigating a bg nearby. I would have drawn the water E of York instead. We badly need iron but the only available I can see is on the Japanese island S. I'm thinking we could make a run for it if we get MM soon.
Change London to archer (see Bedes temple rant, haha). Will waste 2 shields but better make it ready for settler IF we can go for the free iron.
ibt--
London archer (Barney)-->settler
1450
Sell writing to Iro's for 135 g's
Buy a mongol slave for 117 g's
ibt--
1425
Found Highland Park in the NW mountains. I choosed off coast to get more cult pressure on Bad-Tibra, get the sugar and, I hoped for, some iron (but there was none).
ibt--
1400
Gary the Curragh gets whacked by barb galley, arrrgh  .
ibt--
York granny-->settler
1375
Lust gas up to 20 to prevent York from rioting
ibt--
Gilgamesh starts Temple of Artemis
1350
Abe now has MM. It should be high prioriy to trade for that
ibt--
G-ville warrior-->worker
1325
Scientist in London gets CoL in 3 and settler still in 1.
ibt--
London settler-->curragh
1300
Bicycle Repairman is assigned to MP duty in G-ville
We're average to Jap's, weak to the rest.
ibt--
1275
Workers work
ibt--
1250
Found Talisker N of London -->warrior (can be changed to worker when London grows)
ibt--
CoL finished. Start Lit.
1225
Sell CoL to Iro's for MM + 28 g's
CoL to Khan for 82 g's
CoL to Abe for 52 g's

I hoped to get at least math for the bunch of gold, but I failed  so next player should try to spend it asap. Now that we have MM the York settler (in 5) should be sent to London. We have a curragh ready for upgrading. The Iron in Japan is still free.
London is now set on Colossus since we need no more settlers for a while. Worker get down there to make it a fast builder.
Japan is a slow expander since Koyoto also is set on the bronze guy. Maybe we can squeeze out 1-2 settlers from York to settle some down there.

yeah I inherited that mined cow, damn near got the thing irrigated too. Figures Gary gets whacked before finishing off that island and whatever civs are on it.

Now a real question, Dahgda was irate  (ok probably just a little miffed) at opening an SG midturn. I'm not up on what's the thing to do, figured it was polite or whatever to leave the final turns to the next guy *shrug*. I take it I'm to play the full ten turns then leave it off yes?

Oh no, not  . You should see me when I'm mad. Not to worry, I was just a bit surprised and it's easier to take over at the end of turn.

All right, guess I got it.

Keep your eyes on the iron down on the Jap island. You have Galleys next turn. Send settler from York + a warrior and try to claim it. since we cannot fight for it, that's our chance so high priority please.
Keep London growing and improved for colossus.
