Actually I was making the opposite point, since if he had a business not generating much profit, he was likely paying little or no taxes. A flat tax would raise the tax on such a person.

Who knows? General Betray-Us seemed to like his haircuts. Surely there should have been some form of social safety net for him to fall on if he declared bankruptcy!

There is. Plenty of jobs are being created. Maybe he could have used his contacts with General Petreas to network to a good job. He could have joined the military (or Blackwater if he was too old - they need haircuts too). I don't see why an advocate of a flat tax would think that someone is entitled o special rezoning treatment since it is generally far against the norm to rezone a residendial property to commercial. He got his case before the city council and even got a few votes. He just didn't convince enough of them to go against the norm.

I don't think I ever said the council should have rezoned his property. I didn't understood what that would entail, which is why I created the thread in the first place. I've been asking questions throughout since I am not up to par on zoning laws.
