My ancestors where agasint Slavery as permanate but realized that simply throwing it out would hurt the economey, the supported a gradual step down and that is excatly what was happening in the south. And if conditions where so bad why did many former slaves come and work for there old masters after the war? I live in the middle of Dallas and Fort Worth, and I haven't heard of any hostilities between those people. Excuse me for calling someone who supports the Confederacy a racist, but you know - the whole slavery thing and all.
