Many Leaders Game - Discussion Thread

As this will be starting before MLG4 finishes, I'm going to keep the first come first select once the game thread goes up.
No calling :P

Space is actually the easiest way to win. Domination with vassals on is probably possible as well. Culture is the only one you can't win.
Nah ... you can win anything with OCC if PA is on. Plus if it interest you, look at my sig ... even won cultural on an Always War "One" City Challenge.

You're right (of course). PAs will be disabled in this game.

Reminds me I forgot to report my victory on that (very cheesy) game.

Cottages vs Specialists: A Race to the Stars ~ players would have to choose a leader and declare a cottage-spam or a farm-spam economy from the start. might be fun to finally compare the 2, and put the argument to rest.
An excellent idea!

You can only win OCC with Conquest, time, and diplomatic.
As Fox noted, all victory options are available in an OCC once PA is enabled. Going for culture can sometimes be a real hoot to play. Especially when the AI decides to build the Eiffel Tower in a 2 hammer fishing village.

For me no need to sweat: just leave me a Ind leader ....
Most consider Bismark (Ind/Exp) to be the strongest OCC leader. Often times, health is very much a limiting factor in OCC games.

what are thoughts on either a Prince conquest win, or Monarch just win?
No problems with either direction. Warfare can become quite cumbersome, though, if there are no metals in the immediate vicinity.

If there is room i'll have a go at MLG-5, OCC should be fun

Conroe has a point, Can you world build a metal or horse resource somewhere near the capital so it doesn't seem completely unfair. It doesn't need to be in the fat cross, just close enough to get some culture in it.

I would prefer that we NOT use world builder on our start. I think it could be a much more interesting game if we play the cards that we are dealt. And besides that Protective trait will sure look good if we do end up metal-less.

I think a resourceless game would be interesting to see how everyone copes, besides you can always sell your kingdom for a horse.

Think a lack of strategic resources isn't the end of the world. Just puts that off until Gunpowder units. Probably makes for some very interesting early diplomacy though! :)

And makes my quchue's useless.
eh ~ ain't quechua's a replacement for a warrior, making yours an uber-UU if there's no resources for anyone else's?? :crazyeye:

@ ralph re: mlg6 -- i was wondering if maybe having no victory condition predetermined might be a better thing, esp if some of us (me included as i think i'll HAVE to try this game) have never played an emperor game, let alone Agg AI.

imo, i'll need to head for a military path to try and win, but some people might prefer a more quite game after mlg5's conquest fest. just a thought . . .

For mlg6 i was thinking of a no predetermined victory condition unrestricted leaders game. What do you guys think?

I am keen not to put people off with the level and or victory conditions so will bear that in mind.

For this reason Aggressive AI won't be on.

I am keen on going deep into the tech tree to leverage corporations as part of the MLG series (too emphasise the learning part) so although not finalised yet I am thinking of trying to find a way of "giving" people a corporation..(e.g you are gifted your choice of GM, GE etc at the start of the game and that GP can only be used to found a corporation which you are encouraged to spread...)

Additionally I would be very happy for there to be two mini competitions within the single MLG Game e.g

1. Gold Silver Bronze for fastest Spacehip win
2. Laurels for anybody getting their first BTS Emperor win
3. Mr Corporation Award for the best use of corporations (voted on by the participants at the end of the game)
4 :king: Award for the person who best explains their strategy and progress through the ongoing reports (I might decide this myself as I have to have some power or voted on by the participants)

How does that feel as I definitely don't want to "lose" participants due to anyone feeling intimidated by the level / settings!!

Ralph

Seems nice to me Ralph

Hopefully, I'll get my Laurels prize for the first Civ4 emperor win

Sounds like fun there for a game.

The latest RB epic starts you off with a corp... guess you could add one in through worldbuilder pretty easily. Although the costs on a starting empire could be quite crippling if you aren't prepared. Not 100% sure as I've not start that game yet, but they warn you about it!

Although that's going to lead to a very different game than normal.

Another option would be to make corp founding part of the victory condition. Onus would be on players to push out and save the correct GPs?

i.e. Win any way you can and multiply the score by the number of corp HQs you posess. :)
