[NFP] March Update Video Discussion

I'm intrigued to see how Portugal will play (plenty of opportunity for unique trade gameplay), and liked them in V. That said, there were a number of preferable civs. Hopefully at minimum we will see more leader and civ packs, which would make this pack much more satisfying (as it didn't come at the expense of the other civ options that followed).

I like the wonders, and probably won't give the zombies mode much thought, as it generally doesn't fit my favorite part of civ (historical feel). Overall, satisfying as a conclusion to the season (a good civ is all it takes for me), but I still feel wanting.

Wait... What if this is why they put Zombies as the last Mode? Maybe it leaves us craving for a better game, and thus, they'll hope to draw us back with promises of redemption and good game Modes and etc. Get the tinfoil hats, boiiissss!!! :mischief:

I thought I was the master of non-sequitur ab absurdo reasonings, but you sir clearly earned the tinfoil crown of silly over-the-top conspiracy theories of CivFanatics.

It would probably work, for sure. That said, my appetite for new playable options could fill another season or expansion itself, so I'm perhaps not the best to judge haha.

Silly Conspiracy Theories are much, much safer than Silly Walks - some of those can hurt you if you haven't trained for them, whereas Silly Conspiracy Theories, if followed consistently and persistently (and loudly), eventually get you lots of time in safely padded rooms where you can't hurt yourself at all.

It is a stupid title that I shall honor. :P Jokes aside, I really do hope that if there is a second Pass, the devs get their act together and do better stuff.

promises of redemption and goo game Modes
I know you meant "good game modes" but like "goo game mode" makes me think of a game mode that expands on how the game handles pollution, clean energy, sanitation, etc. And honestly if they do that right after introducing us to Zombies... yeah that'd look like an even better addition in comparison, and I could see people getting hyped about it.
heck, maybe the Zombies game mode seems so sparse because they were working on some other better game mode but they wanted to keep working on it, so they put together zombies mode using preexisting and unused assets from Red Death to give us something in the meantime while they work on expanding whatever else was originally there?
Probably just being overoptimistic tho :undecide:

Good grief, no. You heard all the whinging since they brought in Apocalypse Mode that Civ was going too fantastical, now you are giving them ideas about doing a Luigi's Mansion 3 theme and having Gooigis running around? In the immortal words of a wise man,
OH HELL NO!

Thanks for correcting me. That does sound interesting, though.

Ok, no need to keep on dogpiling me like this.

this is just gold!
The 25th, it says in the video.
Ok... I skipped large parts of it, wanted to see the Zombies... anyway, thnx for just telling me and not going on my nerves.

The Cathedral of the most beautiful city in the world : Antwerp
even without looking at the profile I instantly knew what city you're from. (THE city). Strange how the Belgianisms always seem to leak through <3

Yeap, Antwerp Cathedral is great. It's around 100 meters high what makes it even more stunning. You have other two possible World Wonders in Antwerp. Central Railway Station and MaaS. ;)

Het MAS is too recent to be a Civ Wonder lol. It's less than 10 years old <3

Antwerp Central on the other hand, yes absolutely. I often enough see more tourists outside the station taking pictures than I see tourists near the Cathedral (OLV Kathedraal is lovely, but I'd go for Notre Dame or a German Domkirche (Aachen, Köln, Hildesheim) first. )

portugal was expected new wonders i like. zombies well i not think i will play that much, but i must say i loved the lady dev as zombie not scary but i felt euuh how to put this nicely well atrackted lol maybe i fall for intelligent scary woman lol

Remember when they portrayed Hannibal as a Sub-Saharan African? Oh boy.

Or when Gladiator had a Numidian named Juba played by Djimon Hounsou? :p

I'm unsurprised by Portugal being the final NFP Civ, but surprised by the male leader. Though the Portuguese outrage over Maria the Mad in Civ5 might have given Firaxis pause.

I'm never playing Zombie mode. Overused pop culture.

Joao III is a good Leader to pick: not a safe choice like Henry the Navigator, not a controversial choice like Maria the Mad, had enough achievements to merit his inclusion, and is an interesting character in terms of personality.

He's definitely a cool dude. My main concern is that he might feel too much like Philip II. I guess we'll have to wait and see.

There's a privated video on the official civ channel. I assume the first look is coming out tomorrow.
