Marians: Sons of Mars

Hmm.. Could I pass on some gold through LH to the Aztec? I would consider Dessert getting too powerful to be a baad thing.

You have Diplo 2, and so can negotiate up to 75 pixels away. Due to Aztec Central America, you can contact the Aztecs directly. :)

I'd only make it illegal if you didn't know the Aztecs, since that would be gamey.

I'm sending $10 a turn from now on. I want Deseret to see that attacking a marital partner of Carribea is a BAD idea.

Alright, I'll transfer the 10 gold sitting in your treasury to the Aztecs.

Also, as they're a trade partner, you have a vested interest in keeping them strong - if their income goes down, so does yours.

is deseret an NPC?

No, Deseret is Omega's nation.

Excellent. 10 gold to the Aztec.

well then, Canada condemns deseret, but doesn't feel like taking action.

While we wait for Omega to decide what his next move will be(such as rather to go ahead with Civics or not)...

It's turn 12, which means sliders can be moved one point! :D

Iberia, Germany, Austria, Japan, Singapore, Na-Na-Nine, Zululand, all moved towards centralisation. Mughal Empire moves towards private ownership.

Sliders shifted away from protectionism :)

And that settles it; the Aztec War is over after just a single turn. The Aztecs thank the Caribbean and Amazon for their support and offer to return the gold unless they'd prefer the Aztecs keep it and invest it towards defense.

Turn 13

Incidents

Part of Hungary has revolted against Austria - the revolt is Catholic in nature.

Finns have revolted against Novgorod, desiring independence.

Events

Na-Na-Nine had a botched meeting, losing 3 relations with the Qin for 10 turns.

Ormus had an economic boom, and will collect 23, rather than 21, income.

Takrur had a riot in Gambia.

Astrakhan had a settler rush, and so can claim one more province.

Patagonia had a border dispute with Argentina. Argentina is protected by Amazon by merit of being a vassal, so no war will happen.

Succession

The Shah of Persia has died without a successor. His throne passes to Astrakhan. Hedjaz contests the succession, saying that, as the first royal partners of the Persians, they should have the throne instead. Persia will now split into pro-Astrakhan and pro-Hedjaz factions. Every one of Persia's provinces has a 45% chance of supporting Hedjaz. 22 provinces of Persia's 37 rally to support Hedjaz. Who shall win? Time will tell.

Astrakhan has 37 provinces, whereas Hedjaz has 44. The war is too close to tell. Astrakhan Persia has 2 armies, but Hedjaz adds one of Persia's current armies to its own. Hedjaz will collect its part of Persia's income.

Announcements:

A new feature has been introduced, as you can see on the stats - Spies. These are very simple and won't add much complexity. It's easy: Each spy costs 10 gold to recruit and 1 gold per turn to maintain. You can send any number of your spies on a mission, and each spy will add +5% to the chance of success. If the mission is successful, the spy will upgrade their skill, while if it fails or is discovered, the spy has a 50% chance of dying.

Every spy starts at level 0, and can work their way up to level 5. You will know how much of each spy type you have based on the column.

Every level adds +5% to their chance of success(so a level 5 spy on their own adds +30% chance!) and +5% to their chance of escaping discovery(so, again, +30%) and also has 5% extra chance of escaping if discovered or failing, meaning their chance of death is 25% if it's a level 5 spy.

Accordingly, a new mission has been introduced - Assassination. You can kill rival spies. The base chance of success is 50%, subtracting 5% based on the skill of the target - 50% to kill a level 0, 25% to kill a Level 5.

No matter how many spies you send on a mission, you will always have a 20% chance of failure and a 10% chance of discovery. Feel free to ask - via PM of course - what the exact chances of failure/discovery are on a mission.

----

On personal unions - Now that we have a personal union, we need to detail how they end. It's easy. Every turn, there's a 10% chance of the senior partner dying. If they die, there's a 20% chance of the union ending and the country regaining independence.

didnt Canada recruit 2 armies and 2 navies?

and can we annex that vassal of mine?

anyways, we recruit one navy, put the rest into military.

Update on my birthday! Awesome!

Orders misunderstood! Not awesome!

I was sending gold to buy those two provinces from the Aztecs . . . the ones in the middle of my lines . . . .

In any event, 26 to Infra, 17 to Diplo, claim Hispaniola and Puerto Rico. We'll stop sending gold to the Aztecs but make it known we intend to support them in any future wars.

Crap! Everybody, the incomes are incorrect; the correct incomes are:

Iberia - 64.
Deseret - 35.
Nubia - 54.
Caribbean - 43.
Amazon - 48.
Canada - 40.
Austronesia - 51.

Iberia earns 65 gold. 49 gold goes towards finishing Infra 5, which will add +10% to our base income. We donate 9 gold to Lombardia's Infra research, so that they may build up their Infra base and in turn give more cash to us.

2 of the Canary Islands are colonised.

Right!
48 Income
-40 (into military 4)
-4 (purchase 2 armies)
4 into treasury.

I claim 5 territories and then I force a border conflict with these guys.
