Mazera Mega Story Thread

Dude, I'm sorry, but that's way, way too vague a process. We don't even know what the terrain is of our empire. Unless you get us good maps, we're as likely to ask to find wheat in a mountain range as we are to ask for corn in a desert. And even then 'where to look' in incredibly vague.

Introducing more resources over time? Sure. Nice. But you should handle it, or let us handle it through trade attempts.

Trying to make a search out of it, with such a relatively high cost, abysmally low chances of success, and no real means of doing it sensibly? Even the richest empires could bankrupt themselves with a chance for only one or two, possibly, new resources.

There's a good reason resources appear at tech level and not as a payment mechanic. Especially when economy remains such a... nebulous utility. I might see the worth of hiring an expedition for 25 gold, but they would have to be able to give a definite YES/NO of anything on the tile. No "I want a 25% chance if knowing of 1/XX resources in this tile exists.

Only the mana node is worth being randomly discovered at such a rate.

Excellent point. Just PM that you want to do an expedition and you'll get the results. One nation has already done so and gotten two new resources. The percentages are completely abolished as I have a different way of figuring it out. It's a gamble now.

Amurites reveal shocking news

Late at night yesterday, the Amurite government placed a blanket ban on using magic in Healing Homes. This decision was unpopular, especially by families who have sick relatives.

Now, earlier today, the Amurite government has extended this to all places of importance. You now need a form from your local Elder Council that removes the hex placed over the country. Without one of these forms, your magic will be useless, because the hex nullifies the effects of all spells, enchantments, curses and magical concealment. (NOTE: the form will cease to work in all Government buildings)

Now, the CoMR (Centre Of Magical Research) has released a statement, sharing some shocking findings. The Plague that is spreading from Khadi lands, corrupts magic, warping it and causing the disease. The CoMR has warned the citizens that the disease can still spread normally, but restricting the use of magic is will decrease casulties from ~90% to around ~60% of the populus. And, with the Ordine Medicos, infection rates should drop to around ~60%.

The CoMR begs other civilizations to take heed and restrict the flow of magic, for Mazara's sake!

Balseraph Venenos reveal potent new drug
Head druggist and master alchemist Melchior Korzun announces his greatest work to date. Sold in paired vials, this new potion, Communium, allows two people to 'trade minds', each inhabiting the body of the other for a duration moderated by the dosage (up to eight hours with little permanent damage!) See yourself through the eyes of your lover! Feel what it is like to be an elf, or an orc! Hear how weird your voice sounds when you're not in your own head! Seek out your local Venenos shop today, and remember - If It's Not Balseraph, It's No Fun At All!

Warning - use as directed. Communium is for recreational purposes only. Exceeding the maximum dosage may result in recurring headache, nausea, permanent cohabitation of dormant personalities, insanity, and death. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your local Overlords cultist immediately. Communium has been shown to induce mild dependency in some patients.

OOC note - this drug cannot be used to read minds, although powerful emotions from the host body can still be felt.
Death of one host results in the minds of both being lost (the one in the dead host immediately, the one in the live host after the drug wears off). Without intervention, the remaining host body will die of apathy several hours after the invading mind leaves. (intervention is left intentionally undefined)

Um, don't I get a say if a major stock character of mine is assassinated? Goodreau was more than a named character: he was a tool of mine. He had no dealings with Osted, at all.

Change the name if you want. But Goodreau wasn't involved with Osted at all without good reason. Goodreau is close to Cassiel. Cassiel will NOT deal with Osted. Consequently, Goodreau will not deal with Osted.

I suggest a retcon. Or else, because, because Flauros is under my custody, watch, and mercy, I can very easily have him arrested, interrogated, and summarily executed for the murder of a Grigori official. And we don't want that now, do we?

Dean, Cypher asked me that Flauros kill Goodreau in order to obtain information crucial for my plan. If you have the info and would be willing to give it to Flauros, I wouldn't have to kill him. Otherwise, I'm pretty much caught in a stalemate...

Ok, this is my fault. I had given a contract to Diamondeye before the Grigori put a bounty on his head and completely forgot about it. The name can be changed and it can all be retconned. Terribly sorry, this was my mistake.

Stalemate you are in, then. I do not trust Ostil. Any action of his in Grigori lands is highly suspicious. But the moment I knew your original plan, I suspected you would seek his help.

More importantly, I do not see how you expected anyone to trust Flauros. Did you really think that he would be free to do as he wished in Midgard, the capital of the Grigori? Guards and watchers on Flauros's movement is a matter of course. And captured Yokaido magics make such a wonderful tool for deceit...

I'll admit, had it been someone other than Goodreau and Flauros, I might have let it slide (just a bit). I would have punished, but you would have been free. But I've been waiting for Ostil's move for some time, and preparing for it. That you thought you could betray me under my own roof...

Well, I suppose Flauros might live yet, but he isn't going to be beneficiary of an Ostil-devised escape attempt. Concrete entombment is so very hard to move.

Then I suggest you edit the soon to be obsolete messages with N/A and some white lettering.

Suggested name: John Doe.

Yes, the irony is deliberate.

But you're still going to be in a whole lot of trouble if Flauros is still linked to the murder even indirectly.

Once the name is changed, I'll change response. But yeah, Grigori are on the watch for Ostil activity.

The text referring to Goodreau's death and the reactionary story are considered null. Flauros is now outside the Grigori lands where he was before this whole debacle started. Goodreau is alive and healthy and the contract has been discarded.

ELOHIM STRUGGLING, SHEAIM ATTACK

The Elohim encampment on the Fane of Lessers is beginning to falter as the never-ending waves of demons crash against their spears and palisades. With Elohim deaths mounting, the Sheaim encampment also on the Fane of Lessers has turned and assaulted the unprotected Elohim flank. The Elohim are holding their enemies back, but now positioned in a two-on-one battle, their chances don't look good.

MALAKIM SEND HELP

Erlan Haldir, the newly-elected leader of the Malakim, has sent a section of his army to the Fane of Lessers under the command of General Isanov Orzaz. Isanov Orzaz is a highly-respected military officer and has earned several medals, including four purple hearts. The Elohim are awaiting Orzaz's arrival as the Infernal and Sheaim attacks grow stronger every day. Haldir has begun lobbying for the Grigori to also assist the Elohim against the Infernals, having already stepped out of line of the vassal agreement.

Plague Spreads

The reborn plague has left the Khadi lands, following trade to their Amurite and Malakim neighbors. Though the Amurites have managed to diminish the magical enhancement of the Plague, it remains a major force against their war effort, with one in three men already unfit to fight. Their best bet may be simply to hope their beloved Illian neighbors catch sick as well.

On the other end of the Khadi, the Ljosalfar are also said to have breathed the foul winds. Though their lands are healthier than most, they are prime posed to spread the plague to the East. Once it meets the massive Kuriotate metropolises and spreads through their extensive traderoutes, the plague will quickly spread elsewhere.

The only bright spot of this vengeful return is the Grigori Mediocs's ability to combat it. Prior knowledge remains strong, and the Plague Potion remedy is once again being sought at full speed. No hopes of mass production, as the ingredients remains too rare, but the Ordine Medicos themselves should be protected.

A rumor is floating about, though. There may be a hope to success in overcoming the Plague. Medicos and Mages bow their heads and whisper of the magical Tower that rises steadily in Kalm, one that may well alter the plague from it's current state...

Southern Frontier Base To Be Visited By Prime Minister's Daughter

Prime Minister Esirce's daughter, recently vanished from the capital, has been revealed to have been on a discrete tour of the Grigori Republic, inspecting local governance as part of a regional inspection. Her business over, she has decided to visit the Southern Frontier before returning to the Grigori capital.

While many are glad to hear she is doing well, rumors have surrounded her trip. Some say that she went to the East on a secret mission from her father, and no one can recall anything about any trip South before the last few days.

Grigori Join the Fray

Grigori Fleet Sails Into Elohim Port

In a surprise turn of events known only to the Lunan shipbuilders, a Grigori fleet has sailed into the Elohim's largest port. Bought and financed in secret, the Grigori commissioned a respectable navy from the Lunan shipyards, and have hired the crews to man it. Commanded by Captain Panlupan, a sassy and formidable captain who delivered the Grigori's stock of Nightmares, the Grigori fleet stands ready for whatever tasks are assigned to them. And, in accordance with his vassal-ally's requests and movements, those tasks include entering the struggle on the Elohim side.

With Operation Salamander going remarkably well, and the ever-expanding werewolf packs providing more and more of the Grigori manpower needed to keep the Chislev advance on track, the Serpentine Slayers have been underutilized, demoted to mere clearance duty that militiamen could handle appropriately. That has left the Grigori's own champions with little challenge worth their might.

As their contribution for the Fane, the Grigori have sent their new horsemen and horse archers to flank and keep off the enemy forces while the Elohim regroup and the Malakim arrive in mass. More Ordine Medicos have also been dispatched. Rangers deal with the infernal animals that harry the Elohim. But the Serpentine Slayers...

The Serpentine Slayers, and a number of siege weapons, have bordered Grigori transports, ready to push the Infernal advances off the island chains before they become a chain to the continent. Their first target, though, is the the Northern Isle: capturing it would greatly strengthen the supply lines to the Elohim and allies on the Fane of Lessers, and give the Grigori a harbor from which to attack the Infernal navy, arguably their weakest link in their island-advance. As you read this, the first Serpentine Slayers are stepping off their transports now, water-attuned mages granting them the ability to march in formation onto the beaches.

The Grigori entrance into the war has put them in good favor with most of their neighbors and friends. Capria of the Bannor has noted that now the Bannor, the Elohim, the Austrin, and now the Grigori and Malakim form 'an Axis of Righteousness' in the world. Grigori officials are said to be uncomfortable with such language, but are now wondering when the Bannor might be convinced to join in the effort: keeping the infernals off of the continent is in the interest of all living souls alike.

Prime Minister Esirce has moved for the South Western Council to increase its efforts. He proposes a common supply system for the armies at war with the Infernals, the increase of patrols on the continent to warn against Infernal landings, and for the establishments of common-use ports and forts on the coast for use against the Infernals.

Prime Minister Esirce has also begun whispering to his neighbors about possibly inviting the Scions to the southern lands, at the southern coast...

Kahdi Advisor Lodge Replacements and Foreigners talking about changes going inside country.

Grand Keeper of Gates, Metamage Duffi leaves his seat and role. As for now his portfolio will be kept by Sorcus Melus, Grand Advisor of Kahd, and known Kahdi Diplomat and Foreign Advisor. This is second change in Kahdi Lodge during very short period, and every foreigner can see changes are happening in the country. Some foreign Diplomats said that Supreme Ruler, Kahd, been very remote and avoid to appear himself at big forums. “Country is changing, in the eyes of foreigner, but for eye of citizen it remains the same..”, said austrin wanderer Soe Windwitter, who visited recently Kahdi lands.
At north-east borders Kahdi Thades and Ethereal minions stopped advancing towards bleak lands of D’Tech. Seems something is going to happen there as well and linked to changes inside Lodge and whole country.

I have edited my posts now. I'm assuming Flauros travels with Mouer around and to Midgar.
Spoiler The actions of a madman, pt. VII :
Flauros rode in the midde of the column, surrounded by Serpentine Slayers. He was wearing a long, hooded black cape to conceal his identity from the curious onlookers. He waited patiently until they were on a stretch of road with no onlookers before speaking: "I would like to trade a word with Mouar. It may save both of us a lot of trouble." The Serpentine Slayers looked at him suspiciously, before carefully allowing him to ride to Mouar's side. "Milady, I understand you - and the Grigori in general - are not very fond of Onsted Hastil. However, I am dependant on him to recieve a very special information. I was hoping I could avoid this by obtaining the information from you instead..." He lowered his voice to a whisper before continuing...
