Where does the media fall in terms of BIAS Left or Right. I know some here say neither and it all is biased toward the rich. Many people have tried to quantify it. I'll post the ALLSIDES ones since it will be easiest to read hear. You can go to their site for an explanation of their methodology. But the biggest media player isn't listed. To me that is Hollywood. Obviously if you just consider the how the actors reacted at the last Academy awards you would have noticed their anti-Trump vibe. But more importantly, what about the producers.

Doesn't look to bad,BBC and Reuters are about the best you can get for unbiased.

I subscribe to the Washington Post, it's useful for keeping track of US politics.

Huffington Post and Fox are trash.
Most of the rest I have only read individual articles so wasn't familiar enough with the New Yorker, New York Times, Washington Times,

I do find it amusing that they have to differentiate between Fox news content and Fox new editorial.
My company does a lot of polls for Reuters.

Putting Jacobin, Democracy Now, Intercept etc in the same category as MSNBC and CNN, let alone the New York Times opinion page, is a complete joke. The New York Times op-ed section is chock-full of right-wing garbage as is MSNBC and CNN.

These aren't absolutes. Just a majority. The newspaper I read, I would consider a right leaning rag, but that doesn't mean there aren't considerable left leaning pieces. That's why I said you have to go and check their methodology.

But it is interesting since those on the right think media is mostly liberal and liberals think the opposite. But looking at this might lead to you believe that there is a tad more balance then most would admit to.

But Hollywood isn't listed. ;)

It just leads me to believe that the people who did the study are themselves pretty right-wing :dunno:

I don't know. In general, I could go along with where most are rated. I might tweak it but I don't think it's that far off.
But then, you consider me a right leaning *******

Difference between far right and right is do they present opposing viewpoints.

For example Washington Post I would rate left, it's very anti Trump but they have conservative contributers.

Huffington Post is far left pure puff pieces, doesn't even use much in the way of statistics much like Fox. At best cherry picked.

Fox online is far right by our standards but Fox Opinion and Brietbart are even further over than that.

What about Hollywood? I'll grant a lot of the actors are liberal yahoos, but hardly any of them are "left" in any real sense of the word, which is not surprising given that most of them are pretty rich. Meanwhile the people who actually call the shots in Hollywood tend to be very very rich and accordingly harbor right-wing views on a variety of issues.

The only reason to identify Hollywood as a left-wing institution in any sense is if you think that not viewing gay people as inhuman monsters is somehow a left-wing position (which, you know, it kind of is, but...)

I guess if you polled your average person on the street, they would answer that Hollywood was extreme left.

They see and pay attention to the actors because its the actors are who are fun to daydream about humping. The particularly vocal ones seem to drift kinda realignment Democrat, or whatever we want to call them these days. Not really a great face for liberalism on the whole, too easy to hate people who are pretty, popular, rich, and think they know enough to tell you about you. They seem to have outsized prominence in visibility and opinion.

Of course there are no absolutes. (unless we're talking trump, of course)

I do find it amusing that they have to differentiate between Fox news content and Fox new editorial.

It makes sense though that their opinion shows and writers would have more extreme political views than their dedicated journalists, so I think making the distinction is important.

The did with CNN on the other side also.

NPR and the WSJ drift too.

Do they have any graphs showing the % of the overall split? Throwing a bunch of logos into columns doesn't give you any idea what the overall makeup of the media market is. In other words, I'd like to see a graph that shows, 15% of news sources are far left, 10% are moderate left, 35% are centrist, etc.
