Greydon Creed had been a very active man at night and this night would be no exception. He sat on his bed waiting for an appropriate time to set out on his task for the night. He grinned as he thought about his target. The grin on his face dropped and he had an oddly blank look on his face, he stood up and grabbed a black bag from a nearby desk and exited the room. “Let’s see how Magneto likes this” Greydon said out loud as got nearer to his targets room. He paused and opened his black bag and took out a dart gun that was inside. Cautiously he came to the hall way that joined Magnetos room, he peered around the corner and too his astonishment
Magneto was sitting in the hall leaning against one of the walls. Not one to let an opportunity go by, Greydon took aim and fired a dart into Magneto. He watched as the dart perfectly sailed through the air and lodged itself in Magnetos arm. “Job done” he whispered as he disappeared around the corner.
Gambit was feeling a little bored. He thought things were going to be a little more exciting but instead he was stuck waiting outside this person’s room. He shuffled his cards and began laying them out on the ground. He observed them for a short while before signing heavily and gathering them back up. He slouched against the wall, and began shuffling his deck of cards once more. Suddenly, he felt a sharp stab in his right arm. He looked down at it and saw the source of the pain; a dart was sticking into his arm. He looked down the corridor and saw an
unknown figure disappear around the corner. He jumped up to give chase but paused as he looked at the door outside of which he had be loitering, he hesitated and in that moment he felt a little week in the knees. He collapsed on the ground; he could feel his newly gained strength give way on him. He knew now, that there was no chance to catch the unknown figure.
Jean Grey was mightily pleased with herself. Sitting in her room, she wore a perfectly subtle and mischievous smile, the kind you would expect an older sibling would wear when out to tease their younger brother or sister. She stretched out her hands and yawned, ‘timed to go to bed’ she thought. However she instantly became alert, something didn’t feel right, she searched her own mind and felt a barrier weakening. “No” she gasped ‘Xavier!” She jumped up and tore out of the room at lightning speed.
Wolverine sat idly in his favourite location, casually humming to himself. He stopped and smelt the air. Something didn’t smell right. The air had a kind of burnt gunpowder smell to it. As he got up and decided to investigate the source, a door flew open nearby and Jean Grey come running out. “Hey where ya going girly?” Wolverine called out as Jean ran past him. “Hey, Hey. Jean!” Wolverine was puzzled, ‘better go after her’ he thought. He had forgotten about the burnt smell momentarily but the memory was brought back in an instant when he heard the safety catch of a rifle being released behind him. He turned around and saw
Donovan Zane pointing a rifle directly at him. Zane was not one for clichés; he just simply pressed the trigger and unleashed round after round into Wolverines chest until he heard the clicking sound of an empty chamber. Zane’s rifle, despite being empty, followed Wolverines body as it fell to the floor. Wolverine tried to talk but the blood coming up just caused him to make a gargling sound. Zane felt a bit sick at the gargling sound, he looked away and reached for a fresh magazine for his rifle which he promptly reloaded his weapon with. Wanting to stop the noise he took aim once more and fired the whole magazine at Wolverine. Zane kicked him just to be sure and then walked away swing the rifle over his shoulder.
Wolverine lay there motionless, ‘dead’ is what most people would say but then Wolverine is not most people. He lay there more or less dead for a whole ten minutes. When he breathing started back up shallow at first but gradually getting stronger, by now most of the internal organs had healed themselves but it still would be an hour or so before wolverine was fully regenerate and he could get back up again.
Senator Autolycus gathered everybody together in auditorium like he had every morning. Despite all that happened over the past several days he was still publicly demanding that his attempted assassin be brought to Justice. This morning there were three very notable absentees from the auditorium. “Where is the Professor?” demanded the Senator “Does he dare try to mock this peace conference?” The senator looked over to Logan who by now was quite healed “Where is the Professors other aide or that one that is alleged to be Magneto?” Logan just shrugged, truth be told he didn’t know either. Just as the Senator was about to organise someone to go look for them, Jean Grey walked in. “I am afraid, I have some bad news, it is best if you come with me though. A few of the group including the Senator walked to Professor Xavier’s room, Jean opened the door and the rest followed her inside. The Professor was lying prone on the bed as though he was perfectly asleep. Jean Spoke “I have tried all I could to wake him but he is completely unresponsive.”
“Who did you think did this? Magneto” growled Logan. “I am not so sure” replied Jean “Logan stay here and look after the Professor, the rest come with me.” The group left Logan alone with the professor and proceed to follow Jean. “What do you mean it wasn’t Magneto? Asked the Senator. Jean Grey stopped in front of another door “Well, I will show you” she said as she opened the door. Just like the Professor, Magneto was lying prone on his bed. “It’s the same thing” Jean exclaimed. “He is completely unresponsive, even his mind, just like the professors just seems to be empty. I have no idea what could have cause this.”
The Senator spoke with a wry smile “No doubt a dangerous mutant, possible the one that tried to attack me. Ether that, or a plan backfired.” Jean Grey grabbed the Senator and slammed him up against the wall with surprising force. “Listen here Senator and listen carefully” There was such menace in her voice that the Senator could not respond. “There will be no peace without the Professor. It is in your best interest to help us find out who did this or there will be hell to pay!” Jean let go of the Senator and stormed out of the room. The senator dusted him self off and glanced at magneto. “We probable should put this one with the Professor and guard them, who knows what that girl is capable of, should something happen.”
