mNotW VI - Trust a few, fear the rest - Game thread

A bit of a mea culpa here - I was mostly inactive, part because I lacked the time as evident in XXIX, part because I was off for holidays. I did chat quite a bit behind the scenes, but overall I could not manage the activity I wished for. My apologies for that.

... also, it's frustrating to no end to basically get an ability which was unlocked due to whatever obscure requirement was needed.

See? Innocent as a lamb, that is me.

The moment I believe that is the moment you'll plunge a knife into my back. :scared:

Seriously, though, despite it being most likely you were exactly what you said you were, I knew enough about Jean Gray to consider the possibility of your being a double agent (perhaps working with DE in some way). And seeing the strength of our team, I figured it was safest to keep my ability secret from you until I could be sure that that wasn't how sprig had balanced the game.

Of course, it didn't help that you told DE who you were, in circumstances I found rather confusing. ;)

It didn't help that just before Renata died, I was growing increasingly paranoid of her as well. Nictel and TLO are to blame for that - Nictel was pinning the murders on me, and TLO was suggesting the possibility of Dark Phoenix.

Basically, I was at that point afraid that I was being controlled as the killer. I was suspicious of Renata and Nictel for that very reason.

I don't know why everything thinks I'm such a great wolf player. I'm kind of sucky at it, to be honest. I'm decent at confusing issues when I'm under the gun, but I don't plan well, and I have about a million dead giveaways in my behavior. Or at least it seems that way to me.

Not to mention lately, playing wolf/mafia just stresses me out. Town is much more fun.

There were confusing to me, too. :) I just lost concentration for a moment and gave away rhawn=Wolverine, which I shouldn't have known.

I do wish you had mentioned the possibility of conversion, though. There were a few things I would have done differently if I had known.

Now I don't know what and how because we're all pretty sure you are innocent but tell me how I am a member of that brotherhood? I'm sure there is no question for you to doubt your ability. But wasn't there some mind mutant working earlier on?

In any case I am not. I was injected with that virus so I can't be a mutant and ATPG attacked me one night. So yeah, don't actually tell me you think that was to 'prove' my innocence. Cause really nobody wastes a night like that.

PaulusIII is the real threat here.

Can I just point out that everything in this post was technically true. :P

I think a draw between the true innocents and the Friends of Humanity? I know the X-men lost and the Brotherhood lost.

Now it seems obvious why I lost.

Note to self: For now on, keep a fake role and stick to it! Don't bend it at all!

And if those wondering, I was Andy Kubert at the beggining, an innocent little inferiour human, and my starting PM DID actually say that I was Autolycus' aid. :p

The Wolverine being my favorite character was fake, protection was fake, and I tried to get the baddies (which I knew, I knew all of Diamondeye's team, including Nictel) to lynch Renata with the Dark Pheonix stuff, and tried to get the innocents to lynch Paules following his comment about having hidden powers, and saying he got them released

The fake protection is what began your downfall, TLO. My failure to touch you with my ability was step two, and the memories from Magneto and Prof X sealed the deal. You were going to go down next regardless, though, because there was just nobody else that Onslaught could even halfway plausibly be.

I thought I was good with the fake protection.

Saying that my protection does not work against Mutants.

Although when I release 3 versions of the story things do not work as well. Hehe.

Starting FoH:
Autolycus
Seon
CCRunner
J6
.. missing someone, can't remember

The 5th Friend was me.

since I was basically confirmed wolf from day 1. You should have killed me there and then, to be honest.

I tried to! :p

Speaking of that, here's my role PM and the FoH Team PM:

Col. William "Bill" Stryker

Role:
Col. William "Bill" Stryker

Alignment:

Human

Victory Condition:
Friends of Humanity – Remove all mutants

Abilities:

Assassination – Once per night you may attempted to target someone for assassination. You will have a 75% chance of a successful attempt.
Dual Assassination – Together with Donovan Zane you may attempt to target someone for assassination. You will have a 100% chance of a successful attempt.

Personal Goal:

Killed ether Wolverine or Sabretooth

Background:
You are a religious fanatic, with a military history which involved the Weapon X project. You have an unequivocal hatred of mutants. So strong is this hatred that you went so far as to kill your own wife and mutant-born son immediately after his birth. Crazed and outraged, you then made a failed attempt at suicide. As time passed, you became convinced Satan has a plot to destroy humankind by corrupting prenatal souls, the result of this corruption being mutants. Additionally, you eventually come to see the birth of your mutant son as a sign from God, directing you to your true calling: ensuring the eradication of all mutants.

Driven by this newfound conviction, you became a popular but controversial preacher and televangelist. Graydon Creed and Senator Kelly then recruited you into the Friendship of Humans. Finally you will be able to carry out your beliefs against the mutants.

Congratulations you are the Friends of Humanity.
For too long the mutants have threaten humans. It is only a matter of time before they wipe out humanity. They must be stopped. Formed by Graydon Creed (CCRunner) under the leadership Robert Edward Kelly (Autolycus) the Friends of humanity is out to protect humans from the evil mutants. This meeting is the perfect place to launch and offensive against key Mutants. For this purpose like minded people, Col. William "Bill" Stryker (Choxorn), Donovan Zane (j65536d) and the brilliant scientist Bolivar Trask (Seon) were recruited to help the mission have a higher probability of success.

While members of the ‘Friends of Humanity’ are alive they will automatically protect Senator Kelly from night attacks and lynches. However if they die or are role blocked Senator Kelly is vulnerable.

Your victory condition is to eliminate all Mutants.

Beware, despite your numbers, your victory will not be easy. Good luck.

*your personal PM's will be sent to you when I get home.

Now that sprig mentions it, he's right- Seon, j6, and I should have just stacked our abilities and killed one person a night rather than try to divide and conquer, which failed miserably. The one time we did this, we happened to be attacking someone who was immune to night kills. :p

Speaking of that, luck was a major factor. If I had succeeded in killing Diamondeye on Night 1, the Brotherhood would have lost right there, and we would have had only 5 more people to kill since nobody else could become a mutant. And there wouldn't have been a scan on me, at least not on night 2, and it would have just made our lives so much easier.

So basically, my complaint here is that we lost the game through a combination of not combining our powers and getting bad luck on a single dice roll.

I think the "Freaking Wolverine" was just about your protection of renata and winston hughes and your unkillability. On a side note, I think my favorite section of the game was when I was talking to Renata on MSN about who girly could be, even though both of us knew that she was girly. Also, my PG of seeing Jean Grey and Wolverine dead was a complete lie. My personal PM was actually as follows, but I figured I needed a pretty evil PG to be an even vaguely plausible innocent.

Senator Kelly

Role:
Robert Edward Kelly

Alignment:
Human

Victory Condition:

Friends of Humanity – Remove all mutants

Abilities:

Protected – You are unable to be lynched nor killed at night while your team members are alive.
DNA sampling – Once per night you will be able to choose a target to test their DNA. (Scan – Alignment)

Personal Goal:

Find 5 mutants with your ability

Background:
You rose to prominence during a rally protestant against mutants, during this rally you witnessed the X-Man Cyclops firing randomly into a crowd. Using this event you were able to get yourself elected into the government. You are the primary backer of the Mutant Control Act and Project: Wideawake, a government program aimed at creating Sentinel robots that would help track down and, if necessary, detain or kill violent mutants.

With the help of Clayton Creed and Bolivar Trask. You have arranged a meeting with the mutants under the pretence of peace. A careful plan involving a fake assassination will put the Mutants right within your grasp.
PS. What kind of peace conference has all the humans be either latent mutants or Friends of Humanity?

Hah, that was funny, Autolycus. By that point you're right, I knew perfectly well that the FoH knew who I was, and suspected strongly you were one of them ... was an interesting conversation.

My favourite part was when Renata had mind controlled CCRunner and ordered him to inject Magneto. But Nictel had used his ability on CCRunner which redirects to a random person. That person happened to be krill who autolycus was scanning at the time.

So autolycus watched CCRunner hit Krill and Renata thought that she had used CCRunner to hit magneto, while CCRunner had no idea what was going on.

Even that was better than getting intercepted by wolverine twice, then watching him get back up from a bullet in the head!
