Mobius: Total Chaos

Ottomans: Leave my sector of Angel Island. You already have enough. In return, your POWs will be released.

If I were the Ottomans, I'd tell you to focus on the creatures that have invaded your homeland/the fact you have a whole continent to yourself...

...but I'm not the Ottomans. Omega is. And since he's back to being active in the subforum, I'd say you take it up with him. ;)

It's only 3 (6?) Abhorrents and I have +4 against them this turn.

I also have a lot of money that I don't need to spend on anything in particular.

Excellent excellent.

So, when does the war between you two start?

The Combine War shows no sign of being a quick affair, so...

As Legate Nozomi sits down for her cup of tea. Her routine would be massively shaken by a recent turn up of the Abhorrents. Angered at the new threat next to New Königsberg, Nozomi soon shouted "Rally the troops, eliminate the Abhorent threat at once!!". Just as Nozomi steps out of her office, a dark booming voice was overheard overheard all across New Königsberg. "What in Oblivian is that?!" shouted Nozomi. The voice boomed "The Black Arms, shall rise again! Every life form will either embrace dark chaos energy and evolution, or pay the price. Those who adapt live, those who do not die". Nozomi's only response "Mein Gott" then asks an inquiry of how the Abhorrents came to be. Later on she would learn how they come about within the East Republic Company's borders.

iotmedia2.png

Suddenly, the monitors all across the East Republic Company Holds flashed with a face of the old Doctor himself, playing his theme, where he delivered his ultimatum. "People of Mobius, hear me now. I demand that all of you bow down and grovel on your knees and surrender to me as the one true monarch of Mobius". "Funny, I was expecting him to say PINGAS" Nozomi snarkly stated. "To show that I am not bluffing. The Crusaders shall have a massive suicide attacks by my badniks right about, now" Dr. Robotnik stated across the monitor. "Oh great, now we have Jihadist robots running around blowing themselves up" Nozomi said while rolling her eyes "What's next, a roboized Osama bin Laden?!". Robotnik continues on "The East Republic Company shall have a little, industrial accident. A pitty they still rely on manual labor, I could have robotized them". Nozomi shot out to the monitor "You wouln't dare!". Suddenly, one of the Generals from the Rorikstead Hold informed that the newly tapped dark energy wells have been sabotaged by the mad doctor. "I guess that explains the Abhorrents running around next to New Königsberg" Nozomi said while facepalming.

The general from Rorikstead Hold suggested to request the aid from the Bundesleet. Nozomi quickly glares at the general from Rorikstead. "After barging in like a bunch of fratboys, forcing them to sign a treaty to give them the land they don't need, then leave" Nozomi said in a sharp tone "after sensing their uneasiness, I'm going with my gut feeling and stick to being cautious and leave them alone". The general from Rorikstead looked puzzled and asked why, Nozomi answered "It's something the people from Yavin don't understand about us Earth based Coruscantis. It's a sixth sense to us after years of being oppressed." Nozomi then continued down the street to the New Königsberg Barracks to rally the defense against the Abhorrents and Robotnik's Empire.

iotmedia3.png

A week later, while traveling down the newly paved highway linking Rorikstead to New Königsberg. She noticed a blue blur passing by her Staff Car. Nozomi took off her aviator sunglasses and rubbed her eyes. "What's next in this constant parade of interruptions?!" Nozomi asked, assuming it was a ploy by Robotnik or the Abhorrents. Her driver responded that it was neither Robotnik nor the Abhorrents. Nozomi then put on her sunglasses and dismisses the event. Minutes later, Nozomi's staff car pulled up to a popular hot dog establishment in Rorikstead. As Nozomi opens she takes a glimpse of a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog. Nozomi then leaned to her captain "So, this is the blue blir that took a joy ride on the highway". The blue headgehog took notice of Legate Nozomi, who took it upon himself to introduce himself. "Hey dudes and dudette. My name is Sonic the Hedgehog, but you can call me Sonic". Nozomi quickly gathers her self "So, you must be the blue blir that I saw that passed by my car on my way to Rorikstead". Without hesitation, Sonic replied as he chows down a chilly dog "Yep, that would be me". Nozomi in shock and amazement "I have never seen something or someone move that fast. The fastest thing I have ever seen was a 20 kiloton iron slug shooting out of a rail cannon of a Ragnarok class super battleship close to lightspeed". "And what happens if it stops?" Sonic inquires then Nozomi answers "Well, all I can say that an opposing vessel will have a huge gash in it's hull". Sonic soon sensed a bit of uneasyness from Nozomi as she looks up in the sky. Sonic, curious to find out what is wrong with the Legate tries to cheer her up. Nozomi then says to Sonic "I have heard Robotnik is back in town. I've learned from your people that he was a horrible dictator that would make Hitler and Stalin look like small fry. We thought the Combine would be the only one to keep an eye on, but apparently his reappearance complicates things further". Sonic then asks "So you don't like Robotnik?", "That is correct, Sonic" Nozomi answered "I know you're not much for long stories. But in short, we.. ..Earth Coruscantis have been oppressed and knows what it feels". Silence fills the room and Nozomi soon broke the silence "If there was a way, I'd have the Rikke orbiting above us to rain slugs down on Robotnik". Sonic thought for a moment, then in a cheer made his adnouncement "Well, I can see you have a bit of an Abhorrent problem. Perhaps I could help. Its not shooting a heavy slug into old Eggman's face. But I bet it will help in the long run". The Legate, for the first time in months, smiled and thanked the hedgehog. Sonic then said "Relax, I'm an adventurer, I can take on a few muties". Suddenly, one of her captains said "I used to be an adventurer like you, then I took an..." Nozomi quickly hushed the captain "I don't think Sonic would want to hear any of your "Arrow to the knee" jokes.

Just as Sonic and Nozomi parted ways. She soon learns of another headgehog who's been wandering the Holds of the Company. "He appears to be... ...a silver headgehog" Nozomi's captain stated, in a confused. "Double headgehogs? What does it mean?" Nozomi asks. The captain followed up "Well, this one is more of a wild card, but could prove an asset against the agressive expantion of the UBS". Ahh, I've been meaning to counter any future skirmishes that would happen there. I want fresh troops from Rorikstead to be imeediately attached to the expanding scout party".

iotmedia4.png

Nozomi soon returned back to New Königsberg and began to discuss with her round table. Nozomi sat on the head of her table with generals from Rorikstead, Kynesgrove, Riften, Markarth, and New Hamburg. Along with a general to be assigned onto the South Cademstar, refered to as the general from Solitude, and the Admiral from the Rikke. Nozomi placed her hands together, then place them on the table. "Gentlemen" Nozomi said, opening up the meeting "This week has been a very busy week. An Abhorrent problem outside the city, the Combine waving their stick around for all to see, and now Dr. Robotnik has reared his ugly head". The Markarth General opens with his statement "Well, we've just finished up establishing our second full Hold, were just lucky that the Crusaders are only after chaos energies and bypassed the Hold". The general from New Hamburg opens in agreement with the general from Markarth "Agreed. Even though we've only have a way to go before fully establishing the Hamburg Hold. We've managed to establish two chaos energy rigs". The general from Kynesgrove stood up and remarked to the two northern generals "You may be lucky, but apparently there's a real issue I'm sure the Legate is fully aware. Is the blind ignorance of the UBS encroaching into our sphere of influence and willy nilly killing our explorers!". The general from Kynesgrove then slams both his hands on the table "Legate Valentine, I request more men to counter the aggressive land grabbing hollagins to the east of us. I'm sure hells can't guarantee that our friends the Freedom would be able to get their lands we negotiated with without the UBS muscling in there expantion. Like you did with the Bud..." Nozomi then interrupted "I get the point general". The general for Solitude then speaks "What about the port at the southern end of Segesni, Robotnik has sent his badniks there. This would jepordize our plans to South Cademstar". Nozomi then replied "We'd just have to hope that our Tesla rifles are in top notch shape then and fry them suckers to hell". The Grand Admiral then made his suggestion "Legate Nozomi, if I may, perhaps it's a good time to start investing in getting the Rikke active and ready for planetary bombardment when the time comes". Nozomi pondered for a moment. Then the General from Rorikstead placed in his two cents "At what cost admiral? Use a twenty kiloton slug made of depleated uranium. Crater aside, it would severely irradiate the land we target". The admiral rebukes "Were clearly on our own on this, this means crafting our own slugs. We don't have the machinery to make a durasteel slug like they do back home. We only have the capability to use depleted uranium from our nuclear plants". The general from Rorikstead then responds with his statement "Yet it's an expensive process, netting us a grand total of 500 gold ingots per depleted uranium slug". Without hesitation, the general from Riften then states "Why not just build a Black Energy Silo? With the black energy causing as much havoc to other people. The least we could do is start construction and once completed. Start importing dark energies". Nozomi then made her statement "Who would trust us to hold that much dark energy? It's not like people are going to throw money at us to help build the damn thing".

iotmedia5.png

"Thank you for your concerns gentlemen" Nozomi casually states to her board "I've already made up my decision". Nozomi then braces herself and places her hands on a copy of Sun Tzu's Art of War and says "The arrival of Dr. Robotnik and the bolstering of the Abhorent by the Black Arms has complicated this project much further. The guys over at the Correllian Company in the Hutt system are certanly laughing at our state on this planet." Nozomi proceed to take a breath "But they have not seen the crap we have just seen this week. While they can freely negotiate with the Hutts in that system, here we have to WORK HARDER with diplomacy. The Corellian Company only has to deal with a few bandits and rouge mercenaries, here we have entire factions that are equivalent to national powers found on Earth and to top it off, two powerful rouge elements!". The board members stood in amazement at Nozomi's new found confidence. Nozomi closed the meeting with "Now let's go show the boys in the Correlian Company who's boss!"

Bundesarmeehauptquartier summarized in a single image everything the Bundesleet was founded upon. It was a staggeringly massive complex, spanning the area of a small city, and built like a citadel. Clean, orderly, and planned to the most minute detail, its double set of walls housed everything a modern military needed: army barracks, motor pools, even a small airfield, and nearly every amenety a person, soldier or otherwise, could have need or use of. Situated inland to protect against amphibious incursion, the base was ringed by a series of perimeter defence lines that radiated for kilometres outward in every direction. It was the exclusive domain of the army; even for civilians on official business, access to the grounds was heavily restricted. Falke may have allowed the public a view everywhere else, but this was a microcosm all to itself.

It was also incomplete. Of the full schematics, less than a fifth of the facility was operational, and half the space was reserved for infrastructure the army in its current composition had no use for. Nevertheless, as the military's control over Segesni tightened and plans for the introduction of a civil government began to be examined in earnest, Falke had started drawing up the borders for each sector's area of influence. A permanent headquarters was long overdue: as the chain of command expanded across the country, the Fritz Lang and its makeshift courtyard were becoming impractical, and quite frankly unprofessional. The offices in New Lunenburg were designed for administrative duties only, and in any case there had been a shortage of supply dumps for a few months now.

Yet even the officers in the know found Sturm's push to begin construction so early unexpected, especially given that its projected net cost was utterly gargantuan. Something had bitten Falke; military recruitment was accelerating rapidly, and more and more of the industrial engine was gearing toward combat material. The official statement was that more men = faster consolidation = stronger industry; that it was a stunt to jolt the economy. But the general staff suspected an ulterior motive: that Sturm was growing uneasy, and not just from the political overturn overseas.

One of the components to Bundesarmeehauptquartier was a tower of very specific design. It was a unique HyperPulse Generator, an interstellar transmission and receiver station, heavily modified by the Bundesleet and other parties to the Grand Alliance; in addition to broadcasting through space, it could also send a signal through time and dimensional planes. The blueprints had been circulating openly throughout Engineering, R&D, and every other department tied to army command since planetfall. Sturm's №1 priority was to re-establish contact with high command, and the tower was his means to do it. From a technical standpoint, assembling the device was a routine construction job; the requisite high-tech industrial backbone was the lynchpin. The first few months of the Mobian expedition could be forgiven; the world was starting from scratch, after all. But as the months began to push into years, the general's impatience could be appreciated.

Sturm wasn't afraid to die on Mobius. A soldier was a soldier because he was willing to sacrifice himself; even if, in his current capacity he wasn't in direct opposition to O'Leigh, he could take comfort knowing he was building a legacy on this planet. What frightened him was the notion of dying "lost in space": that the fleet would never learn what became of Task Force Falcon, or that by the time the signal was found, the original expedition staff would be dead and gone. Many of the men and women under his command had families or friends or other acquiantances waiting for them back home, who by now would have received the largely unhelpful news that their particular person of interest was "currently subject to a space-time anomaly". To the Bundesleet, time travel was not unknown; sometimes it was even mission-mandated. Home base had special equipment to respond to this situation. When a line of contact was established, Falke's coordinates in all planes of reality could be pin-pointed, and any transdimensional discontinuities would easily fade away. But until then, every second out of the loop was a second against Sturm and his unit.

------------------------------

With port cities sprouting along the coast, Marine was able to commission larger vessels for blue-water fleets. Maritime exploration was finally set to begin in earnest; as the world's outline was gradually revealed, the Bundesleet could at last turn its gaze to events beyond the home continent. To prove that Emperor Karl Franz had friends in more than mere name, Falke drafted a foreign investment plan to strategically develop Reikland's industry and secure a foothold for the Bundesleet at the same time. The project was to be conducted in stages, gradually building within Reikland the necessary infrastructure to support the military hardware Falke ultimately aimed to market... and, perhaps, lay the groundwork for joint arms ventures once the empire was on equal footing.

Conducted in cooperation with imperial planners, the preliminary phase involved the establishment of Bundesleet-bankrolled "special purpose" factories in the major cities intended to lead by example. As technical expertise diffused amongst the local workers' guilds, machinery of incrementally more elaborate design would be imported; if all went to schedule, Reikland could be made competitive in only a few years, and without the body count of Stalin's Five-Year Plans.

"Meanwhile, this chapter closes as soon as it began," Sturm sighed, sliding the letter from the East Republic Company to the far end of his desk. "Still, it was thoughtful of them to send a hand-written letter, even if it was scribed."

"Sir?"

Sturm stretched his arm back across the desk and tapped the bottom of the paper, focusing the aide's attention. "No signature," he explained.

"Back to business as usual then, sir?" Albrecht asked, rhetorically. The general replied with a crooked smile and a knowing look.

At that moment, Oberst van Daimann appeared at the doorway. Sturm perked up at once. "Is it good to go?" he asked eagerly.

"It took us some minor modifications, but the lab tests proved satisfactory."

"Finally, some good news," he breathed. "Alright, round up Langardiologni and get the module shipped out immediately. We're sitting on a time bomb here."

Van Daimann clicked his heels, turned sharply, and proceeded back down the hall.

Dr. Ivan was a mad scientist, no doubt about it; whether that madness was insanity or merely chronic anger, however, the jury was still deliberating. Some thought that the only reason he hadn't already vaulted himself to world supremor was because his Russian "protectors" laid waste to his laboratory so often it was a wonder he didn't opt to refurbish it out of Lego bricks. What remained indisputable was his invaluable contribution to the Grand Alliance in all manner of scientific and technological innovations, even if he was, in the long run, a double-edged sword. His myriad of avant-garde gadgetry so often wound up as the keystones to Rick O'Leigh's latest scheme for world domination, many considered it a miracle that the madman had never once managed to kidnap the scientist responsible for them all. It was Dr. Ivan who created the mythical Formula X-16, that veritable font of magic that had made O'Leigh an ever-present thorn in the Bundesleet's flank for well over a decade.

The allied powers could thus never adequately express their gratitude that the good doctor openly co-operated with them, cranking out antidotes as fast as he unwittingly brewed the poisons. The fix-it that was the current focus of Sturm's attention was his design for "energy containment chambers", prototyped in the early days of the Psi Wars; they were field-portable constructs built to absorb the demonic energy of O'Leigh's latest batch of mutant monstrosities, reducing them to the likes of the usual juiced-up brutes. As Sturm ruefully reminisced, it took a few revisions before they were finally proven combat-ready. But once he'd got it right, Gott in Himmel, did they do the job; subsequent modifications proved so versatile, they gained the nickname of "magic dampers".

Mobius wasn't Rick's domain, but Langardiologni remained confident the chambers could be adapted to the local brand of Chaos without major alteration to the basic blueprint. The devices might not be able to break down the menacing black pools on their own, but so long as the corruption was contained, Falke's work would be made that much easier.

War.

BSR-91 never seen war before but there was the word flashing in capitalized bright red letters in the government email sent to him. The word flashed in his mind. Four years, two terms of Universal came to an end a few days later as the elections started. Darius is replaced by the Caesar Program and the electronic beating of drums began in earnest. Factories start shifting from the pleasant consumer goods to weapons of wars such as Buzzsaws, Disintegrators, Assimilators, Seekers, and Gun Walkers. Stormriders patrol the skies in force and new weapons BSR-91 never seen before have been reported marching.....dark days upon us no doubt.

As a note, unless RFC himself controls the claims, chances are that SoI will be violated...

Never mind, why would they pass up having a port? :p

Even though the ERC and the Freedoms have previously negotiated with their claims plans, the ERC will still respect the claims. Though we strongly advise the Freedoms to beef up their expantionary force in the event a border skirmish happens when the UBS muscle into their land claims.

My economy AND military are stronger than that of the USB.

UBS has more chaos energy and a larger military, however. And enough of said energy to negate the bonuses granted by those pesky Fire divisions. (Which you need to place, in case you haven't already)

Either way, a war over a province or two is ridiculous, isn't it? (Not that I mind of course; I delight in pointless slaughter and so do our antagonists)
