Module: Slavery isn't just wrong, its profitable!

Just an idea, you can make the slave market function under different civics differently. You can make the slave market have no effect normally, but say, under Slavery it adds +1  +1 :yuck: and +2:commerce:. Different civics could offer different things... If you wanted to add a Calabim-specific civic with vampirey effects that would work...

I was thinking about that.

I think I want Slavery to do more than just an extra hammer from quarries. +2 :yuck:, +1 :hammers: and :commerce: from mines and quarry, +1 :commerce: from farms. May also add unhappiness though not sure.

2.5 food consumed per population. Good alignment only (though I may change that).

OK: so after figuring out how to work the art files I have the following unit ready-

Slaver (limit 4)
4/2 str, +50% vs. Workers (heh heh), +1 Armageddon Counter, 75% to enslave units, can remove population (enslave) from cities to create slave units.

Finished and included new Slaver unit in first post. The model is by Alazkan Assassin.

Also, I am thinking that different civs should be able to use their slaves differently. The Doviello already have an excellent synergy with slavery, as do the Balseraphs. I also think that the vampires should be able to use slaves but not as useful as bloodpets.

Eventually I want to include another UU: Mamelukes which I will tie to either late melee or mounted tech line.

Finally I am going to try to include another interesting Wonder (national perhaps?) that requires several slave markets. Any suggestions?

Jotnar and Clan sacrificing slaves for a food boost is pretty appropriate.
Maybe allow Illians/White Hand to convert them to Frostlings?
OO turning slaves to Drowns would be fairly thematic.
Sheiam/AV should be able to sacrifice them for research.
Infernals...convert to Manes?
Mechanos converting slaves to lobotomized cybernetic thralls would be interesting.
Cualli already have a mechanic with slaves, right?

As for the wonder...a civ-wide boost to your enslave chance? Extra trade routes? Extra hammers? Free slave market in every city?

All of these are decent ideas but the OO and Sheiam ones encroach the least on other civs (i love the fact that Doviello can upgrade their workers for example). So I will probably use those.

I'd love to make the Illians have to park their slaves in a blizzard for a turn or two before they change into frostlings.

For the frostlings, make it a spell that requires a blizzard on the tile, and has a delay of a few turns. :goodjob:

Thats what I am thinking. Illians practicing their sinister rites in the middle of nowhere.

Probably it is going overboard to give every civ their own thing to do with slaves but there are a few that should get an extra options. I do like the idea of sacrificing slaves for food. Maybe similar to the doviello, which yield 10 food I think.

Well I have not figured out a clever way to feed the Clan with slaves but I did whip up the Illian's "use" for their slaves, called Into the Blizzard. I will add it once I have completed a few other little things.

I believe xienwolf just listed "add food" as one of the tags that doesn't actually do anything right now....so yeah, don't keep trying on that one. :crazyeye:

Maybe I could work in something for the Clan where they get to use the Pyre not just for sacrificing Angels, but I do not know if that holds up lorewise? Probably i'd give an adept or divine unit the ability to sacrifice people for some xp.

OR steal from Orbi their pagan temple UU and let them sacrifice there.

You could always use python to have them add food or whatever...but I wouldn't know how to do that, exactly.

Heh heh I am still getting the hang of what I can do with xml so if you know how to and it is simple drop me a line please! I'll even pay you what I pay Xienwolf!:crazyeye:

I don't....but I'll see if I can find a similar function to copy

That would be sweet! Another thing I want to work on is having a UU slaver for the Pariah civ I want to do which bestows mutations on the units they capture. I think in that case though they would just capture and convert the unit rather than turn them into slaves. That may be a bit OP though at least there would be a limit of 4.

So all the evil civs have a use for slaves...at least in my dementated mind, so shouldn't the good guys?

The good guys gain the ability to Liberate slave units, converting them into regular Worker units...sounds weak huh? Well good guys are weak!

Any suggestions to improve upon this?

You could have that spell (if that is how you are doing it) provide an alignment boost(meh) or lower the AC (much more interesting).

For vampiric units, allow them to eat slaves to regenerate like they can with blodpets.

FOL civs should be able to do something with slaves and a Wicker Man. :D

....that doesn't really help with the "good guy" angle, does it?

Is there a way using XML to randomly spawn a type of Frostling unit with my Into the Blizzard spell? As an aside perhaps the Illians should be able to summon archers and wolf riders.
