The Message - The Story of Islam

Link to video.

The Message is a 1977 Morrocan and Libyan co-production featuring hollywood star Anthony Quinn. It was shot both in english and arabic. The above scene shows perfectly and intensely that Islam and Christianity have more in common than most people perceive.

Hate mongers on both sides deride each other's religion, but neither speak the message of their prophets.

So much evil in this world is done by politicians using religion as a weapon of war, even if they are a message of peace.

Full movie here.

Is this some kind of advertisement?

No, he's right on the money and I've been saying it on this forum practically since I've been a member. Wish more people from all three major religions took it to heart.

I'd rather mobilize for dialogue with reasonable silent majority folks in the muslim world. Get them to take control and slap down the nutjobs.

Remember, Christians, Jews, and Muslims are all worshippers of the God of Abraham. It should be a point of common ground, not division.

I have personally never understood why we cannot live in peace. The way I personally see it is like this...

We are all three (Jews, Christians, and Muslims) worshippers of the God of Abraham. Surely there is more to unite us than to divide us. We do not have to accept the particular beliefs of the others that contradict our own, but we can still respect the others' rights to hold those beliefs.

I was actually just making a counterpoint to the uninformed fear-islam rhetorics.
too many people don't even know that islam reveres jesus christ as well as mohammed.

i just discovered this movie scene recently and it was so well done that it really left an impression on me. just wanted to share and maybe do something good.

Nice to see that dedicated christians exist that value the moral lessons of their religion more than the deceitful propaganda of the corporate media.

I'm no expert in that matter, but I am not completely sure if the jewish Torah actually has a prophet with a message of peace like Muhammed and Jesus have.
I mean, there is Moses, yes? And he was about freeing the jews from slavery and bringing the ten commandments to his people. But I don't really know what he actually preached.

I deride both religions, so I don't really care that much.

Although they were both equally mentally ill (and I mean it, the symptoms are there once you look at their stories without bias - delusions, conspiracy theories, hallucinations, etc.), the message of Muhammad is a fair deal less pacifist than that of Jesus.

Yes. That's what the religions have in common; they were all founded by maniacs.

Three major religions? Where's Buddhism, where's Hinduism, and where's Taoism?
Look at the context of what I was saying. When speaking of the God of Abraham, there ARE only three major religions that have any bearing on the discussion.

Jesus a maniac? When he was on earth he certainly was a person who knew what he was doing. But I reject that Islam and Christianity are the same.
http://www.jihadwatch.org/2008/12/nazareth-merry-christmas-infidels----allah-has-no-son.html The story quotes a banner put in front of a church by Muslims quoting from the Quran that Allah no son. This is in direct contradiction to what the Bible says. John 3:16 is one of many verses stating that Jesus is the Son of God.

Also see this link to seee the differences between the two religions. http://www.deceptioninthechurch.com/allahyhwh.html

Yeah, tell the Bahá'í on this forum that there are only three Abrahamic religions :D.

However there is NO religion that actively demands war of it's followers. Unless someone still worships Odin or something.

All those "religious" people demanding blood, war and retribution are only men. And none of them are prophets.

You completely missed the point, CH. Nobody has said they are they same. We simply all worship God/Yahweh/Allah/Jehovah. Whatever name you want to give him from whatever faith, it is the God of Abraham that we worship.

Yeah, tell the Bahá'í on this forum that there are only three Abrahamic religions .
That's why I said major :) I didn't want to have to list all the minor offshoots. Er, and I don't mean that in an insulting way...

Jesus a maniac?

He thought he was the son of God. Doesn't that qualify?

But with this proliferation of Christian sects, the term Christian is beginning to lose it's meaning. Calling Mormons Christians; That's stretching it.

He proved he was the Son of God by his actions. How many peope do you know who have died to rise again?

@VRWCA, if Allah has no son, then they are not the same God, since Jehovah has a son. You can't say that just because Allah is the word for God in Arabic, means that they are the same God. Allah of the Quran is not the same as Jehovah of the Bible, thus they are not the same God.

Not a stretch at all. At its most fundamental, basic level, being a Christian simply means accepting that Christ is the Son of God, our king and savior, and that he died for our sins and was resurrected. The Mormons believe that just as Protestants and Catholics do.

You still are not getting what I am trying to say at all. I am not talking about what any of the groups believe. I am talking about the entity that is worshipped by all. Whether they are right or wrong in their specific beliefs, it is the same God that we all worship. By your reasoning, the God of the Jews is not the same as the God of the Christians because Jews do not believe Jesus Christ is the Messiah.

EDIT: Actually, want to apologize for saying you're not getting it. Always hate it when someone throws that at me. You may well be getting it and just not agreeing, but based on your posts I took it the other way.

Jews dont think their God has sent a son down yet either, guess that silly Torah God isnt the same God either.

Well, skip the Baha'i part, OK? Although I joined their group, their prophets are equally weird as other prophets or religion founders.

The only exception I might make is Lao Tsu, because he was not the founder of Taoism.

Actually there's a flaw. On theory Muslims can tolerate Jews and Christians, but Christians cannot tolerate Muslims. Because of the recognition of prophet issue.

A website called "Jihad Watch" isn't exactly going to be unbiased.
You reject that these religions are "the same", but I'll tell you right now that I've received a mountain of hate from Christians about my beliefs. Christians are certainly not above the kind of behavior that "Jihad Watch" describes.
